Chapter102 Faux Marriage Must Go On
Judson caught the expression on Grandpa's face and glanced at Kristina. He'd brought home the girl he figured Grandpa wanted as his granddaughter-in-law, so why did the old man pass out?
The pair hurried over, and Kristina was startled.
She had been prepared to make a good impression today. What's with Elder Nash having another episode?
Judson stood aside as the doctor rushed to administer first aid and he asked,
"How's Grandpa doing?"
After the checkup, the doctor breathed a sigh of relief.
"Judson, no worries, Mr. John just got a little too excited and had some shortness of breath. He'll recover shortly."
Liz was dabbing her tears away.
So the Lowe family's young lady had shown up, what's to get so worked up about? And what was it about Kristina he was so fond of?
There was nothing Liz could do now. If John's health meant he wanted Judson to marry someone, then so be it.
She hoped he would live many more years, not wanting him to leave them too soon.
Seeing Grandpa like this, Judson knew how much Grandpa must have taken a liking to Kristina, and his expression cooled slightly.
It seemed this pretend marriage would have to continue.
Soon, John opened his eyes again and upon seeing Kristina, he rolled his eyes once more.
Startled, they called out to him again, "Grandpa."
"Grandpa Nash…"
Liz tried to calm him, "John, your grandson came back and brought his girlfriend to visit you. Don't get too excited!"
Upon hearing this, John glanced at Liz, pointed to his room, and then closed his eyes. Seems like he was tired and wanted to go back to his room. The visitors were here, and he didn't even want to meet them before heading off to rest.
Liz told the servants, "Take John back to his room to rest."
She felt it might be better if John didn't see Miss Lowe anymore, to avoid the ups and downs that could lead to mishaps.
With the help of the servants and the doctor, John was led to his room. Liz wiped away a tear.
Judson sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
"Grandma, the doctor said all of Grandpa's vitals are normal. He'll get better with time."
He knew that Grandpa and Grandma had a strong bond, having been together all their lives; neither could bear the thought of losing the other.
Liz nodded, "Yes, he will live many more years."
Kristina stood to the side, a box of health supplements still in her hands. She felt a pang of disappointment for not having caught a moment with Grandpa. Spotting Grandma Nash looking forlorn, she sat down beside her.
"Grandma Nash, I bought you some skincare products; they're high-quality and I thought you might enjoy them," she said.
Liz glanced at Kristina. The woman wasn't outstanding in looks, but since John liked her, there wasn't much to do about it.
With a slight nod, Liz accepted the gesture. "Thank you, dear, that's very thoughtful of you."
After dinner with Grandma Nash, Kristina got up to check if Grandpa had eaten. This left Judson and Kristina alone at the table. Judson broke the silence.
"I'll have the driver pick you up whenever we need you to act. No need to come to the office. And if you want out of the agreement, I can release you from the contract."
He wouldn't force her. Even though Grandpa needed her, he respected her choice.
Kristina was thrilled just to be near Judson, cherishing the opportunity. Why would she give it up?
"Judson, I want to do it, I really do."
Judson glanced at his expensive watch. "It's getting late. I'll have the driver take you home."
Fearful of being let go, Kristina quickly stood.
"Judson, then I'll head out. Call me if you need anything," she hurriedly said.
