Chapter 274 Throwing Checks Again
They walked into the office together. Eula didn't care what people thought anymore; they could think whatever they wanted.
She was used to the rumors by now.
Judson got busy with phone calls as soon as he entered, then headed to a meeting.
They had breakfast together on the way, and that felt like the only time Judson was truly hers.
Eula rested her chin on her hand, staring at his empty desk, thinking about how busy he always was.
She sighed and got to work, which was pretty easy.
By ten, Judson still hadn't returned. She went to the break room, poured herself some coffee, and sat by the window.
She picked up her phone to call Mary about the movers for the new house, but Shirley called instead. She answered, "Hello."
Shirley had warned her the night before.
Lately, Geoffrey had been less discreet, maybe even talking about things at home.
"Eula, can you meet up?" Shirley asked.
Eula checked the time. "I'm at work, it's not convenient."
She didn't want to meet Shirley. Their conversations were always unpleasant, and Eula couldn't talk back, which frustrated her.
Shirley sneered. "Are you scared? Where do you work? I'll get you time off."
Eula frowned. "Where are you? I'll come over."
"Good. I'm at the café on the corner. I won't leave until you come," Shirley said and hung up.
Eula texted Judson: [Mr. Nash, I need to take some time off to handle something.]
She packed her things and hurried downstairs.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the café. Shirley, in a fur coat, waved her over.
Eula sat across from Shirley, who asked, "What would you like to drink?"
"Water is fine," Eula replied, glancing at the water in front of her.
Shirley sipped her coffee, her face wrinkle-free and youthful.
She put down her cup and stroked her hand, showing off her rings.
"Eula, Geoffrey wants to marry you, but we don't agree. How much to leave him?" Shirley pulled out a checkbook and pen.
"Name your price, or fill it in yourself," she said, pushing a check toward Eula.
Eula smiled faintly. "Shirley, I've said before, Geoffrey and I are just friends. I never intended to marry into the Hopkins family, and I don't want the check."
She pushed the check back. Shirley's expression turned cold. "Eula, I know you're capable. You even captured Judson's heart. It's no surprise Geoffrey is taken with you. Since you have Judson, let Geoffrey go!"
Eula felt a pang in her heart. Being misunderstood hurt.
"Shirley, you're right. Judson and I are dating, and he's the one I want to marry. So don't worry, save the money for Geoffrey's future wife!"
Anna, from a distance, captured the scene and sent it to Melissa: [Eula admitted it. Looks like Kristina and Judson are done for.]
