Chapter 392 The Four Great Families
Shirley felt a bit uncomfortable when she saw that she was being completely ignored.
She sat up and tidied her hair.
The servant had already brought her shawl, which she took and wrapped around herself. "Geoffrey, look at her, she has no manners at all. I was talking to her, and she just ignored me and walked away."
Geoffrey sat expressionlessly on the hospital bed. He had just seen the name flashing on her phone—it was Judson.
Whenever that Judson called, she acted like she was possessed.
Feeling quite displeased, he glanced at the TV on the wall.
It was reporting on the Nash Group construction site accident. A slight smile appeared on his lips.
Shirley also saw it and quickly grabbed the remote to turn up the volume.
"The Nash Group is in trouble, it's the land in East Side." After watching the report, she smiled. "Judson deserves it. Back then, your grandfather wanted you to secure that land, but you didn't manage it and got scolded. Seeing the consequences now is really satisfying."
Geoffrey said nothing. Shirley knew he couldn't see, but he could hear.
"Geoffrey, did you hear the news on TV just now?"
Geoffrey leaned back, feeling around, "Mom, this is the Nash Group's business. We don't get involved, not even to comment."
He was always someone with a clear stance.
Shirley got up and paced around the ward. "This couch is so uncomfortable to sleep on. My legs are sore, and I can't walk properly."
It was because of this couch that Geoffrey didn't want Eula to stay overnight, fearing she wouldn't rest well.
"Mom, with Eula taking care of me, you don't need to come to the hospital anymore," Geoffrey said.
Shirley usually had a lot of social engagements and activities to attend. The ladies in her social circle loved to invite her out.
She was always busy, and now, just staying in the hospital, she must have been bored out of her mind.
Shirley sighed. Yesterday, she went for afternoon coffee, but everyone there pitied her. They asked what she would do in the future, saying the Hopkins Group would fall into the hands of other heirs.
They also said Geoffrey would never see again and would need lifelong care, saying she was truly pitiful.
She had never been treated like this before, so the more she listened, the more she couldn't stand it.
She eventually left, falling out with those people.
Now she understood. When Geoffrey was in a high position, everyone flattered her. Now that Geoffrey was in trouble, they all wished he would stay blind and never recover.
She didn't want to go back. Staying with Geoffrey was the most important thing.
"Mom, did you hear what I said?"
"Geoffrey, I'm your mother. You can't stop me from coming. You don't let the family come, not even your grandmother or your father. They are all waiting for my updates every day. I can't not come."
At that moment, Sandra came in, arm in arm with Donna, entering the ward.
Shirley straightened her back when she saw Donna. The Pitts family was one of the four major families in City A, with the Hopkins family ranking second, the Pitts family third, and the Hicks family fourth.
The four families had always had good relations and often met at social gatherings.
"Mrs. Pitts, what brings you here?"
Donna was elegantly dressed in a silver outfit today.
She looked at Geoffrey on the hospital bed, "I came to the hospital for a check-up today and heard from Hugo that Geoffrey was hospitalized. Since our families have always been close, I naturally had to come and see him."
The servant brought in some fruits and supplements, which were taken by the Hopkins family's servant.
Eula had just finished her phone call and entered the ward, seeing the lively scene.
She stood at the doorway, unsure whether to enter or not.
Sandra called out to her, "Eula, you've worked hard taking care of Mr. Hopkins. I bought you some supplements too, make sure to take them!"
