Chapter 162 The Joys of Youth
Upon hearing this, a frisson of excitement coursed through Eula, though it was merely a figment of her imagination, not yet a tangible reality."What's there to be happy about? I'm not even sure there will be anything to my liking," she retorted.Caught off guard by her response, Judson allowed a subtle smile to dance in his eyes. "Miss Lowe, the items at the auction are far from cheap. Are you implying that money can't buy happiness?" Eula conceded that money could indeed bring her joy, but it was far from a guarantee."Ahem... I may not be wealthy, but that doesn't mean money is the key to my happiness!" Her true source of joy was her three children. Yes, that was it. Everything she did now was for her beloved trio.Judson's brow furrowed slightly, noticing the girl's growing sassiness. His long fingers tapped rhythmically against the armrest."If that's the case, then my previous statement is null and void." Eula swiftly turned her head towards him, "Judson, actually, money can make me happy. You're the type who keeps his word, aren't you?"Judson saw her attempt to lay a trap for him, but he chose not to take the bait. "Indeed, I, Judson, always honor my word. That includes the statement I just made."Eula rolled her eyes, aware that he was merely toying with her. He had never intended to gift her anything.Choosing to look out the window instead, she decided it was better not to engage him. After all, the items at the auction were extraordinary. She wasn't greedy to such an extent. If he didn't want to give her anything, then so be it.Judson noticed her disheartened expression, his lips curling slightly, laughter twinkling in his eyes.Just past three o'clock, they arrived at a quaint town on the outskirts. It was a historical town, home to a large antique shop. The auction was being held within this shop, nestled in a charming, vintage courtyard.Luxury cars filled the parking lot at the entrance. Eula followed Judson out of the car. The air outside the city was colder, the temperature low and the humidity high.As she stepped out, she felt the chill. It was cold enough to make her shudder. Judson glanced at her, then removed his ink-blue coat and draped it over her shoulders.Eula felt instantly warmer and turned to look at him. He, however, strode forward, leaving her enveloped in the warmth of his coat, which carried a faint, cool scent and the residual warmth of his body heat. She now felt significantly more comfortable.Tazz stood beside her, offering a light smile. "Miss Lowe, remember to dress warmer next time."Only then did Eula glance at her attire – a purple sweater. It was vibrant and pretty but not particularly warm. Generally, everyone in the executive office dressed professionally, but Judson had no such requirements for her.Initially, she wore business attire, but later on, she opted for comfort. With her limited wardrobe, constantly rotating professional suits would bankrupt her, so she occasionally wore her personal favorites.Eula's gaze drifted to the man in the black suit standing not far away. Amidst the crowd, he was the most conspicuous. Especially today, having given her his coat, he was the one dressed most lightly.Eula jogged to catch up, offering back the jacket, "Judson, I'm not cold. Here, take your coat."As she began to remove it, Judson responded in an even tone, "Keep it on, I'm feeling warm."Eula was left speechless. In such cold weather, he claimed to feel warm. Judson truly had a robust constitution. She, a mother who had given birth, simply couldn't compare. Youth was indeed wonderful!
