Chapter 299 Melissa is Really Skillful
Kristina leaned on Melissa's shoulder, "That's awesome, Mom. Lemme go change real quick, and I'll tag along to see Uncle Mario!"
Her uncle, Mario Brewer, was a low-level thug, and everyone avoided him like the plague.
Only Melissa kept in touch with Mario and had a good relationship with him.
Kristina knew some of the backstory: when Melissa was pregnant with her, it was Mario who brought people to confront Fernando, forcing him to marry Melissa.
So Melissa had always been grateful for that.
Whenever Mario needed money, Melissa would give it to him without hesitation.
Kristina used to think Melissa was too foolish. Someone as greedy as Mario should be kept at a distance.
But now it seemed Melissa had foresight. For some dangerous tasks, they could rely on Mario, which was beneficial for them. Even if things were investigated later, Mario would take the fall for them.
Kristina had already made up her mind. If Mario could handle this matter well, she would give him a large sum of money.
Kristina wasn't short of money. She craved status, a status that would elevate her. And that status was Judson's wife. As long as she became Judson's wife, she would lack nothing in the future.
The two of them took a car to Mario's house, an old-style mansion that used to belong to the Brewer family. The car stopped at the entrance, and they got out. Melissa rang the doorbell.
"Mom, do you think Uncle Mario will be home?"
Kristina thought it might be more practical to look for Mario at the casino since he loved gambling.
Melissa pressed the doorbell again, "Your uncle has no money recently; he must be home."
Kristina was a bit surprised. Melissa really seemed to have a precognition, even knowing whether her brother had money or not.
However, Kristina had to admire Melissa. When it came to tactics, she was not even a tenth as good as Melissa.
As long as she listened to Melissa, Judson would definitely be hers.
At that moment, someone came to open the door. It was a woman in pajamas, her hair messy, looking like she had just woken up. She had a cigarette between her fingers and took a drag impatiently.
"Who are you looking for?"
Melissa glanced at the woman and immediately knew she was a sex worker.
"I'm looking for Mario."
With that, Melissa walked into the yard, not giving the woman any respect.
The woman cursed as she saw Melissa enter without permission.
"Did I say you could come in? Just barging in..."
Kristina said coldly, "This house belongs to my mom. She lets Mario live here. You have no right to tell her to leave."
The woman was stunned for a moment, realizing Melissa was supporting Mario. She snorted and walked away, swaying her hips.
Eula stepped into the yard, which was overgrown with weeds, a stark contrast to how it used to look.
She knew that anything good would turn bad in Mario's hands. Who knew how dirty and messy the inside of the house had become!
'Weren't there servants in the house? Why didn't they take care of the yard?'
Although the mansion was old, its location was excellent, right in the city center. It was comfortable to live in and would sell for a high price.
Kristina entered the living room and saw Mario coming downstairs in a bathrobe. Mario was burly with a full beard, making him look fierce and intimidating.
"Melissa, coming to see me so early? Bringing me money?"
Mario had asked her for a loan before, and Melissa had said she would bring it in a few days. Clearly, she was here to make good on her promise.
Melissa placed a card on the table, "Here's the million you wanted, but you have to do something for me."
Mario walked over to the coffee table, picked up the card, and a sly smile crossed his face.
"Go ahead! I'll do anything."
To Mario, money was everything. Melissa had been generous to him over the years, always giving him money whenever he asked.
As long as it was something Melissa needed, he would get it done.
