Chapter 107 The Uber Driver
Eula couldn't help but grin at Isabella's astonished exclamation, following her survey of the luxurious car with a guilty chuckle.
"I never expected to book such a fancy ride when I ordered a car." She laughed awkwardly and hurriedly walked over to the vehicle, attempting to pull open the rear passenger door, only to find it locked.
Kristina, observing the scene, stepped forward with her arms crossed and let out a scornful laugh.
"Sis, cars like this aren't for an uber. Are you trying to put on a show for the family? You can't even open the door, so back off, actions speak louder than words, and we won't think any less of you."
Laughter broke out among the onlookers. "Eula, after all these years, it seems you've picked up vanity too."
"It's okay, really; we can give you a lift. No need for over-the-top ride-sharing like this."
"If the guy who owns this car is actually driving for an uber, I'll eat my hat," someone quipped as more chuckles filled the air.
Eula's eyebrows knitted at the sound of mockery, and she tapped out a quick message on her phone. "Judson, can you unlock the door?"
Judson's reply came swiftly, "Hop in the passenger seat; I decided to drive tonight."
Got it. The big boss himself didn't like playing chauffeur.
Isabella, catching up to her, teased, "Are you sure you didn't mistake your boyfriend's car for uber?"
She couldn't believe an uber would waste such a luxury vehicle.
Eula squeezed out another smile, "Yep, just an uber. I've got to go. Bye!" With a wave, she opened the front passenger door and slid inside.
Isabella peeked curiously to see who was in the car. As Eula swung the door open, she caught a glimpse.
"He's wearing a suit, and from the side, he looks pretty handsome!" Isabella exclaimed, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
Aunt Melissa had remained quiet until now but couldn't hold back any longer.
"So what if he's handsome? That won't pay the bills. Unlike Kristina's boyfriend – not only is he good-looking, but he's loaded too. You should follow your sister's example, instead of drooling over men all day. Think of your eldest sister – it must have been some pretty boy that got her into trouble in the first place."
With that, she tugged her daughter along.
"Kristina, it's cold standing out here, let's head back. It's just a car, after all, nothing worth fussing over."
Melissa didn't understand cars, so she couldn't see anything special about it. However, for those who knew their stuff, it was clear that the man in the car was no ordinary Joe.
Kristina was baffled, wondering who could possibly outshine Judson in affluence.
Fernando Lowe's mood had soured too. He suspected Eula had snagged herself a top-tier, wealthy guy – maybe even an old rich man.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He would need to have a word with her at some point, to stop her from engaging in these embarrassing antics.
In the car, Eula glanced at the dashingly handsome uber driver, exhaling a silent sigh of relief that he hadn't overheard her. If he found out about her personal life, he might just find new ways to give her a hard time.
Judson, focused on the road ahead, casually asked, "You seem to be pretty familiar with the Lowe family?"
He didn't know many of the Lowes, but he had met Fernando Lowe, the chairman of the Lowe Corporation.
Leaning back in her seat, Eula admired the view. The city was stunning at night, bathed in the glow of vibrant neon lights.
"It was Miss Isabella's birthday party," Eula responded tersely. "She invited me."
She didn't feel like elaborating, especially since Judson was unaware that she had any personal ties to the Lowe family. Everyone thought she was just the daughter of the Lowe family's household staff.
Noticing Eula's disinterest, Judson explained, "My grandpa wasn't in the best mood today, so I sent Kristina to cheer him up. You know, Eula, there's really nothing between Kristina and me, no matter what the rumors say. Don't believe them."
