Chapter 44 Neighbors Are Better Than Family
Eula listened to her loud cursing, purposely saying the most unpleasant things.
The light in her eyes grew darker, and the neighbors surrounded her, enjoying the spectacle.
In fact, she didn't care if others made fun of her, but what would people think of her three children?
Bastards?
Suddenly, she clenched her fists with anger and felt the urge to go forward and knock this woman out to shut her up.
Seeing more people gathering around, Melissa became even more arrogant.
"Everyone, be careful. This young girl is so promiscuous at such a young age. Think about your husband and son. If she ensnares them, your family will be ruined."
Mary couldn't bear listening anymore and rushed out, pointing at Melissa.
"Shut up! Who do you think you are? Eula is beautiful and kind-hearted. She's a good person, not the way you're describing her."
Eula stood frozen there, unable to move.
Fortunately, Mary helped her believe in herself enough to defend herself. Suddenly, she gained confidence and rushed towards Melissa, but the bodyguard intercepted her, preventing her from getting close to Melissa.
"Melissa, you're just a mistress. You have no right to say these words in front of me," she said. As she was about to pounce on her, the bodyguards stopped her.
Mary also tried to help, but her strength wasn't as great, and she was nearly thrown off balance. Eula held onto Mary and asked, "Mary, are you okay?"
Seeing this audacious intruder, one of the neighbors shouted, "What are you doing?" Then they started fighting with the four bodyguards.
Melissa never expected them to side with Eula and was scared, so she moved back. Eula entered the yard, picked up a broom, and chased after Melissa, striking her forcefully. Melissa was too weak to fight back, her hair was a mess, her clothes were dirty, and she had injuries on her face.
She sat on the ground crying, "Help me! Help me!" After the scuffle, all four bodyguards were injured, but they helped Melissa escape. Eula looked at their disheveled appearance and felt satisfied. She had wanted revenge for all these years but didn't have the ability.
Even raising her children was becoming difficult, so revenge seemed distant. Today's fight was truly exhilarating.
Mary gasped for breath and laughed, "Eula, who is this person? She's really annoying."
It was clear that she had come here specifically to defame Eula's reputation, showing just how malicious she was.
Eula linked arms with Mary, feeling a bit tired but still smiled and said, "She is my stepmother, the one who drove my mom away from home." Mary nodded, starting to understand. Indeed, she was a bad person.
The neighbors nearby had also heard and spoke up one after another, saying, "Eula, don't be afraid. Just call us if you need anything.", "Yes, we all know your character. We won't believe what others say.", "If she dares to come again, we'll fight her together."
Listening to their words, Eula felt touched. She bowed to the crowd and said, "Thank you! Thank you!" Eula had been living on Snow Street for three years. She was friendly and always greeted her neighbors, and as time went on, they would gather and chat. So their relationships were very good!
After returning inside her home, Eula helped Mary prepare vegetables in the kitchen. Suddenly, she realized that her neighbors were better than her own family. At least they would genuinely look out for her and believe in her. Whereas her own family, her father, her grandfather, they didn't trust her and always thought it was her fault.
She sighed. Even though the events from six years ago had ruined her life, she didn't regret giving birth to her three precious children. Now, in the future, she could raise them well and let them live like any other children.
