Chapter 345 She Wants to Repay the Kindness
Geoffrey heard this and slowly turned his head, but his eyes were dead, like he was staring into space.
Eula nodded to the servant. "Bring the dinner over, I'll feed him."
Geoffrey sat quietly on the bed, looking way thinner, his chin all sharp and pointy.
His tall, lanky frame in that hospital gown made him look even more like a skeleton.
She walked to the bedside. "Geoffrey, I'm here again. You gotta eat."
As she spoke, she set up the table on the bed, and the servant brought the dinner and set it up.
Eula held the bowl and started feeding him. "Open up."
Geoffrey pressed his lips together. "Eula, I can do it myself."
But Eula wasn't having it. "Just let me take care of you this once. When your eyes are better, even if you pay me, I won't feed you again."
She said it like she was joking, but her heart was heavy. 'How could such a handsome and awesome guy like Geoffrey go blind?'
She felt it was so unfair. He was always so kind and polite to everyone. He even helped her, a total stranger, back then. A guy like him shouldn't have such a crappy fate.
Geoffrey's throat moved a few times, his voice getting kinda hoarse. "Eula, I'm like this now. Can you give me some dignity? I don't want you to see me like this. Leave."
He finally said it, dropping the politeness he had shown her during the day.
But Eula didn't care. "Geoffrey, I'm not leaving. Open your mouth."
Now was her time to pay him back. Geoffrey's state broke her heart. She couldn't bear to leave him alone, not like this.
Geoffrey frowned. "Eula."
He reached out and grabbed her hand, holding it tight. "Are you pitying me?"
His voice was low, no longer sunny, but kinda gloomy.
Eula glanced at his hand and pulled hers back. "No, I'm just worried about you and hope you get better."
She brought the food to his mouth. "Open up."
Geoffrey couldn't argue with her, so he just opened his mouth and ate.
Shirley watched from the side, her eyes bright. If she had known Eula could help him, she would've brought her here sooner.
In the past half month, her hair had almost turned gray.
After eating most of the food, Eula asked, "A little more?"
"Full," Geoffrey said flatly, then added, "I want some soup."
Eula smiled, and the servant brought the soup, chicken soup.
She fed him spoon by spoon until he finished the whole bowl without any fuss.
The servant cleared away the dishes, and Eula took a wet towel to wipe his face and hands.
When she was done, she relaxed. "Rest well. I'll come see you when I have time."
But Geoffrey held her hand. "Can you come every day?"
His voice had a hint of hope. Eula could tell he really needed someone to be with him.
Shirley was his mom, so he didn't want to show weakness in front of her and always pretended to be strong.
Eula's heart softened. "Okay, I'll come every day from now on."
Geoffrey still held her hand tight, not wanting to let go, like a kid.
Shirley watched from the side. Normally, she would've scolded Eula. But Geoffrey needed Eula's care now, so she held back.
In her heart, even if Geoffrey was blind, Eula wouldn't be good enough for him, and she would never agree to them being together.
Eula stayed with him for a while longer, asking about his condition. He had injured his head at the time, and then he went blind.
The cause was still unclear. The CT scan of his brain was normal, but he just couldn't see. The doctors were still trying to figure it out.
When Eula got back to Judson's ward, he was already awake and eating.
