Chapter 86 The Blind Date
As Eula listened to Judson's words, she couldn't help but feel like he was reluctant about something.
She didn't comment on it, though. It was his personal business, after all, and as his secretary, it was not her place to step in.
Judson found her quiet obedience charming. However, her silence reminded him of the last time he had asked her to be his girlfriend, and she had turned him down.
It seemed like this woman just couldn't grasp his feelings, and that was frustrating to him.
Pulling into the parking lot of Ash and Dine, their driver courteously opened the car door for them.
They stepped out, Judson leading the way with Eula trailing behind.
Inside the restaurant, they were shown to a private booth just cozy enough for two.
Judson ordered for them while Eula excused herself to the restroom.
After using the facilities, she washed her hands when she heard a warm voice call her name. “Eula…”
Eula glanced in the mirror to see Geoffrey standing nearby, his cheeks flushed with the mirth of wine and a smile playing on his lips.
She dried her hands with a paper towel.
“Geoffrey, are you here for an event today?” she asked.
Ash and Dine was well-known for its delectable cuisine, and as a members-only establishment, it wasn't a place just anyone could dine in.
Geoffrey took hold of her arm. “I’m here with my family. Come meet them,” he insisted before she could react.
Eula was whisked away to a private dining room where a large table was filled with children and adults alike.
As all eyes turned their way, Madam Hopkins noticed Geoffrey pulling Eula along and her expression shifted discreetly as she approached them.
“Geoffrey, why did you bring her here?” she inquired with an air of disapproval.
Madam Hopkins was the picture of elegance in a long, pale green gown, her makeup impeccable and costly jewelry adorning her neck and ears.
Geoffrey's smile was irrepressible. “Mom, I just wanted Eula to meet you all.”
Eula felt awkward; she remembered when Madam Hopkins, in an attempt to part her from Geoffrey, had offered her money.
She had rejected the check and promised to steer clear of Geoffrey.
Now, here she was, seemingly breaking her word.
“Madam, I am actually here dining as well,” Eula explained, catching sight of the restroom door. “I just bumped into Geoffrey here. He seems to be a bit tipsy.”
She tried to withdraw her hand gently, but Geoffrey was holding on with an unyielding grip, his eyes fixated on her with a mischievous gleam.
“Eula, I won’t let you go,” he stated firmly.
With the situation escalating beyond her control, Madam Hopkins turned to the others in the room and began introductions.
Everyone, this is Eula, the young lady who is going to marry Geoffrey.
Eula glanced over and noticed a pretty young lady in a white dress sitting next to the empty seat, her gaze fixated on Geoffrey.
She suddenly understood. That was explained why Geoffrey had downed so much booze and seemed so out of sorts. For a man usually so composed, his behavior was unexpected and left her slightly taken aback.
Eula tapped his hand, the one clutching hers, "Geoffrey, let go, my friend is waiting for me."
She needed to make a quick exit.
But Geoffrey held fast, his dark eyes boring into her with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine.
"Eula, the woman I want to marry is..."
His confession was cut short as a lean arm swooped in and whisked her away.
"Eula, what are you doing here? They've served dinner already."
A tall, handsome figure appeared by her side, his striking features shadowed with annoyance as he spoke coolly and then shot a fleeting glance at the folks inside the private dining room.
