Chapter 121 Trouble with a Debt
Dr. Olivia’s expression shifted as she examined the area.
She hadn't expected it to be this bad. She had to admit, Judson was quite something.
Exceptional, to say the least!
She offered a faint smile, "No worries, it's not serious. Just skip your shower tonight, or it'll take longer to heal."
Pulling an ointment from her medical kit, Dr. Olivia advised, "Apply this three times a day, and it should heal in a couple of days."
Eula took the ointment and applied it herself.
Dr. Olivia then stepped out to face Judson, who was at his desk.
"Judson, I’ve assessed the injury. A few days of applying this ointment should do the trick!"
He looked up and responded in a calm tone.
"Dr. Olivia, thank you! Myles is waiting outside; he has something for you."
She shook her head, "No need, it’s part of my job."
Judson was adamant that it was a must, considering it to be hush money.
After a moment's hesitation, Dr. Olivia thanked him again, "Thank you, Judson."
Eula, feeling much better as she left, appreciated the cooling relief of the ointment. It had eased her discomfort significantly.
Judson noted the smile on her face, understanding she felt reassured after the hospital visit and the ointment application.
Back at her desk, Eula organized Judson's upcoming schedule and managed some calls setting up appointments, charting out a timetable.
During her downtime, she immersed herself in books, aiming to further her education and open up future job choices she’d truly enjoy.
Her phone buzzed with a message from Darcy, "Eula, sorry! Promised to pay them back this month, but I've yet to close the deal on the house. Can we delay a few more days?"
After considering the request, Eula decided a slight delay was manageable.
"Alright, I'll get in touch with them now."
"Eula, you're the best!"
Darcy's overly sweet GIF prompted a laugh from her.
She took her cup and headed to the break room.
She noticed the change in the atmosphere when she arrived. People from the executive department quickly dispersed from their huddles, returning to their workstations upon seeing her..
Eula frowned, wondering if the whispers were about her. Clutching her cup, she resolved to let it slide. After all, being Judson's executive assistant implied being closer to him.
Indeed, making money was a challenging game.
She entered the break room, filled her cup, then sat by the window in the relaxation area to make a call to John.
“Hey, Eula, is it payback time already?”
John was thrilled about the bonus he'd received this month. Settling this debt would wrap things up nicely.
“John, I’ve hit a bit of a snag. A friend of mine is having trouble. Any chance you could give me a few more days to repay?”
John paused, caught off-guard by the request.
“I’d have to run that by my boss, Eula.”
Eula let out a light laugh, “Do that, and call me back, will ya?”
After ending the call, Eula sipped her water, gazing out the window, a flicker of hope stirring in her. Life seemed to be looking up, the future felt promising.
All she wished for now was Estelle's recovery; that would be the real game-changer for Darcy.
Just then, John’s call buzzed in, and she quickly answered.
“What did your boss say, John?”
“Eula, the boss said we can grant you a grace period. But, you know, interest starts to kick in now.”
A smile curled on Eula’s lips, “Yeah, I get it. Tell your boss I’m good with that.”
It made sense to her, paying interest on a late loan payment was only fair.
“Just be careful, Eula. The interest is on the steep side. Make sure to pay up soon,” John’s voice carried a note of caution.
“I will, I’ll give her a nudge and get it sorted ASAP,” Eula replied solemnly.
