Chapter95 Confrontation
Eula had no desire to engage with Kristina’s snide remarks. Observing Kristina's smug demeanor, thinking it would distress her, Eula chose not to give her the satisfaction, instead shifting the focus.
Eula knew Kristina had been pampered in the Lowe family, sporting nails that cost a fortune to manicure, each diamond authentic and cold to the touch. "Quite pretty," Eula remarked coldly.
She turned towards her desk, adding after a pause, "I'm talking about the nails."
She didn't dignify Kristina's person with a comment because in Eula’s eyes, Kristina would always be an unsightly duckling—a fact Kristina had been aware of since their youth.
Although her mother was attractive and her father was handsome, she somehow seemed to inherit every flaw from both of them.
Just thinking about it made her blood boil. Thankfully, over the years she had stealthily tweaked her appearance. She had cosmetic surgery on her nose and eyes—she had at least transformed herself into a beauty among crowds.
Yet, standing next to Eula, she felt overshadowed in an instant.
The thought infuriated her. She pondered, as if fate had never favored her.
Her hands balled into tight fists, her gaze upon Eula cold and piercing.
"Maybe I'm not as pretty as you, but luck's on my side. I'm living the high life, like a true Lowe. What about you? Hah! Motherless from the start, even your dad couldn't stand you. Barely past your teens and already with three kids—must be exhausting."
Eula's complexion soured at those words.
"My hardships, Kristina, who do you think I have to thank for those? Karma's a real thing in this world, and you and your mom are going to get yours eventually."
The argument escalated as they fired back and forth, Kristina with her arms crossed, growing increasingly impatient with Eula's newfound wit.
"Eula, make me a coffee," she demanded.
Eula was busy organizing Judson's latest itinerary and studying for community college. Now that her job was stable, it was time to improve herself.
"Judson has made it clear I'm his personal assistant, working exclusively for him," Eula stated confidently.
That, of course, was a lie Kristina could spin any way she liked in his absence.
Enraged to the point of boiling over, Kristina stood and stormed over, her eyes sharp as daggers. In a fury, she swept everything from Eula's desk onto the floor, screaming, "You're just his secretary, a mere employee. Don't fool yourself into thinking one stint in the news makes you Mrs. Nash."
The sight of her shattered mug hit hard; it was handcrafted with her kids, each piece holding a distinct sentimental value.
Rising from her chair, Eula shoved Kristina away, "You're insane, Kristina!"
Bending down to pick up the broken shards, their family photo lay in ruins. This despicable woman hadn't changed a bit.
The push sent Kristina into a blind rage; she couldn't stand that Eula got to see Judson every day. She wanted her gone.
In a flash, Kristina grabbed Eula's hair, but Eula wasn't one to cower. Geoffrey had gotten her a taekwondo teacher for self-defense, turning her into quite the formidable force.
Twisting away, Eula sent Kristina tumbling to the ground.
Taken by surprise, Kristina groaned in pain. "Help! Eula's attacking me!"
Her cpitiful cries, filled with feigned despair; echoed mournfully through the room. Yet, as she dabbed at her tears, a sly, mocking smile flickered across her eyes.
“Eula, do you really think you can stay with this company? He's definitely going to fire you.”
