Chapter 197 An Arrogant Woman

Kristina cursed, "Eula, you are shameless. Grandpa asked you to come and accompany me to try on the wedding dress. Are you coming or not?"

The venom in her voice was unmistakable, even to Judson who was within earshot.

Turning to him, Eula inquired, "Mr. Nash, would it be possible for me to take some time off without a deduction in my salary?"

His response was curt and unyielding. "In your dreams."

Suddenly, a shriek erupted from Kristina, abruptly ending the call.

Eula pocketed her phone, a grateful smile gracing her lips. "Thank you, Mr. Nash."

The Lowe family was an incessant thorn in her side, their sole purpose seeming to flaunt their superiority before her. She refused to subject herself to such humiliation.

Judson's eyes narrowed as he pieced together the reason behind Eula's abrupt termination of the call. He didn't fully comprehend the animosity between the two women, but he recalled Eula mentioning that she and Kristina were far from friends.

The upcoming engagement was merely a performance for her grandfather's sake, a desperate attempt to put his worries to rest. Yet, the mere thought of Kristina was enough to give Judson a headache.

...

As the clock struck half-past five, Mary arrived to collect the three children from school. The moment they stepped beyond the school gates, Dewitt dialed Eula's number.

Eula, on the brink of finishing her workday, eagerly answered her son's call.

"Dewitt, has school ended?"

"Mommy, Rodolfo and I are cooking dinner tonight. Don't forget to come home for it."

With that, he ended the call, leaving Eula with a soft smile gracing her lips.

The two boys were prodigies in many areas, including culinary arts, though they seldom cooked. On Eula's birthday each year, they would prepare a feast for her, the taste of which surpassed even the most renowned restaurants.

The mere thought of their cooking made her stomach growl. She rose from her seat, heading to the break room for a glass of water.

As she exited the room, sipping her water, she crossed paths with two secretaries who halted their conversation upon seeing her.

"Eula."

She acknowledged them with a nod before continuing on her way.

Once she was out of earshot, the secretaries resumed their gossip. "Did you see that? She acts as if nothing's amiss. She must be accustomed to playing the mistress."

"I agree. Despite Mr. Nash's impending engagement to Kristina Lowe this Saturday, she remains firmly planted in his office. It's shameless."

"I'm certain the new Mrs. Nash will promptly evict her from the office once they're married."

Eula reentered the room, an awkward smile on her face.

"Apologies, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I left my phone behind."

She retrieved her phone from the desk, glancing at the two women.

"I hate to disappoint you, but even if Mr. Nash marries, I won't be vacating his office."

She was determined to hold onto her job, prepared to fight tooth and nail for it.

"And a word of advice, if you're going to badmouth someone, ensure it's done discreetly. If Mr. Nash were to overhear, I fear you might lose your jobs. He has little tolerance for office gossip."

With that, she held her head high and strode out of the room.

The secretaries exchanged glances before simultaneously muttering, "What a shameless woman!"

Yet, they dared not voice their thoughts any louder. If Judson had been the one to overhear, they would be in deep trouble. The Nash Group paid the highest salaries, and they couldn't afford to lose their jobs.Eula returned to her desk, her gaze falling on Judson who seemed engrossed in a pile of documents. She bit her lip before asking, "Mr. Nash, may I leave on time today? I have some matters to attend to at home." In reality, she was eagerly anticipating the meal her sons had prepared. Their culinary skills were so exceptional that she couldn't bear the thought of missing it.
