Chapter 73 Piercing Gaze
"That's great, urge them to move faster, let's get this surgery done as soon as possible."
Eula smiled. It is good news for Darcy.
The man came down from upstairs, hearing the cheerful sound of her laughter. He descended softly, step by step, careful not to disturb her.
Then he overheard her talking about job hunting, and recalled the video he saw of her yesterday.
She worked in a pet store, dressed in a vet's uniform, which didn't suit her at all.
No wonder she lost that job.
Eula felt an intense stare and turned to find Judson already standing there.
"Darcy, let's catch up later, I have something to take care of. I'll come visit in a few days."
She hung up and walked towards him.
"Breakfast is ready; you can eat now."
She led the way out the door and into the kitchen.
Their dining table was situated right in the kitchen—a layout from an earlier time where the kitchen and dining room were one. Mary lived in the adjacent room.
Judson glanced at the yellow blanket of fallen leaves in the small yard.
Eula remarked, "It's a pear tree. When fall comes, it's laden with fruit—sweet and crisp."
Though Judson wasn't much of a pear fan, her words made him quite curious to try them.
He followed her into the kitchen, which had an old-fashioned charm, complete with a marble-topped table polished to a mirror finish, reflecting their figures.
He sat down, Eula served the food before him.
"Here in our house, breakfast is pretty casual, hope you don't mind."
She sat across from him, sipping her soup delicately, occasionally picking up some salad to nibble on.
Judson found watching her eat to be a delight, and suddenly, the simple meal seemed exquisite.
After breakfast, Judson glanced at the time before handing her his business card.
"If you're looking for a job, give him a call and mention my name," he said.
The Nash Group – a prestige beyond even the reach of Ivy League graduates. Did she stand a chance?
"Judson, I only have a high school diploma."
Her lack of advanced education had been a painful barrier in her job search over the years.
Judson nodded slightly, showing he remembered her telling him this, and said assuredly, "They won't fuss. Not if I'm the one referring."
Right, he was the president of The Nash Group. Who would dare question his recommendations?
Eula smiled and expressed her gratitude with a simple "Thank you."
As Judson walked away, his tone turned cold. "You owe me money, and I can't reassure unless I know you're right where I can see you."
With that, the tall figure pushed through the door and left. Eula stood in the yard and cursed under her breath, "Just as I suspected, stingy."
She had thought he was being kind by offering her a job. It turns out he just wanted to keep tabs on her to ensure she didn't skip town.
In the car, Myles noted Judson's attire, which seemed much warmer.
Feeling Myles's gaze, Judson glanced sharply at him.
Myles met with a chuckling, "Looking sharp today, Judson!"
Glancing down at his clothes, Judson felt an undeniable comfort, even though they weren't custom-made but hand-knitted by her.
"Tell HR, if Eula applies, set her up for the executive secretary position," Judson instructed.
