Chapter98 Judson’s Interested in You
Eula left The Nash Group, took a taxi to the hospital, and on the way, she picked up Estelle’s favorite desserts and a makeup set for Darcy.
Arriving at the ward, Estelle was receiving an injection and was already asleep.
Darcy was dozing off beside the bed, and Eula lightly covered her with a blanket. Darcy, used to waking at the smallest disturbance due to years of worry for her child, opened her eyes at the warmth.
Darcy rubbed her face and said, “Eula, you're here?”
Eula tucked her in, “If you’re tired, sleep a bit more.”
Darcy shook her head but her eyes darkened at the sight of the makeup set and desserts on the table.
“Eula, you bought me makeup? I'm not in the mood for that stuff.”
Apart from the heavy makeup required for the nightlife scene, she couldn’t even muster the will to wash her face during the day, let alone bother with skincare.
Eula gently touched her cheek, "A woman, no matter how disheveled, should never give up on her appearance. It's not about looking beautiful for others; it's about looking beautiful for yourself."
That was her philosophy. No matter how tough life got, she made a point of sticking to her skincare routine, going for an early morning jog, and practicing yoga.
She wanted to maintain the best version of herself - seeing her own reflection shine seemed to naturally brighten her mood.
Darcy nodded in agreement, "Right, we should never give up on ourselves."
Just then, the caretaker arrived. They called her Ava, and she’d been helping Darcy take care of Estelle. Ava felt sympathy for Darcy and was committed to her role.
"Darcy, didn't you have something to attend to today? Go ahead," Ava urged.
Both called out to her, "Ava."
Ava nodded slightly at Eula, then got busy with her tasks, picking up the freshly laundered clothes and putting them away in the closet.
Darcy brushed her hair, then popped into the bathroom to wash her face.
"Eula, aren't you supposed to be at work? Let's head downstairs together."
Eula grabbed her purse and, after bidding farewell to Ava, walked arm in arm with Darcy toward the elevator.
The hospital wasn't very crowded at that time, so they had the elevator to themselves.
"I'm not heading to the office today. Where are you off to? I can join you," Eula offered.
Darcy glanced at her, "Weren't you the one who said you'd give it your all for the paycheck from The Nash Group? And now you're skipping work."
Eula had indeed told her that having that job made life a lot easier, and it was what enabled her to buy Darcy makeup.
But the thought of Kristina made her blood boil.
"Didn't Judson's grandfather want him to marry Kristina? She came to the office today, and we got into a fight. I couldn't stand being in the same room with her, so I had to leave."
Eula felt cowardly; it should have been Kristina who left. However, given that Kristina was destined to be the future CEO's wife, the lady of the house, so it was Eula who had to go.
"Does Judson want you to be his mistress?" Darcy asked bluntly.
It was obvious to anyone that being his secretary, with such a high salary, was Judson's decision.
Eula's face soured, "No way, I would never be someone's mistress!"
The thing she despised most in this world was the role of a mistress. If it hadn't been for Melissa, the mistress, she wouldn't have grown up without a mother or ended up in her current predicament.
Darcy chuckled, giving Eula's waist a playful pinch.
"I get it, I know you don't want that. But, I really think Judson has a thing for you, you gotta believe me."
