Chapter 400 He Has His Reasons
Darcy's eyes flickered slightly, and she coughed awkwardly. "Eula, he and I, well, I can't really explain it."
Eula put her arm around Darcy's shoulder. "Darcy, I'm not blaming you. You just need to be clear about your own feelings. Don't let him take advantage of you for nothing."
Eula was a rather traditional person. If a man approached her with impure intentions, didn't give her any promises, and deceived her, such a man was really no good.
Right now, Elbert gave her that kind of feeling. She was afraid Darcy would get hurt and taken advantage of.
Darcy held her hand. "Eula, Mr. Hicks has already agreed to donate bone marrow to Estelle next week. Honestly, for me, nothing could be better than that. As long as Estelle gets better, I'm willing to do anything."
Suddenly, Eula was taken aback. Yeah, that was true.
If it were her, what would she do? She would also give up everything just to save her child.
Elbert was really despicable, taking advantage of Darcy's weakness to bully her on purpose.
"Eula, how come you have time to come over today?" Darcy asked.
Eula gave a bitter smile. "I lost my job, and I can't stay with Geoffrey anymore. I don't want to go home, so I thought I'd come chat with you and see Estelle."
Darcy smiled. "Come on in! Estelle should be waking up soon."
Eula glanced in the direction of the hospital room. The scene from earlier was really hard to shake off!
She hesitated, and just then, Elbert came out. He was wearing black pants and a gray T-shirt. His hair was short, and his skin was bronze, exuding masculinity.
His face was chiseled, making him look overly stern. Anyone could tell at a glance he was a soldier.
He walked over with long strides, his expression unchanged, completely indifferent to what had just happened.
Eula knew that people like him didn't care about others' opinions at all.
With a strong presence, their mindset naturally improved.
He winked at Darcy. "Darcy, I'm leaving."
Then he looked at Eula, a hint of a smile crossing his face. "Eula, no work today?"
When Eula saw him, she couldn't help but think about what she had just witnessed.
Her face turned slightly red, and she warned herself not to overthink it. "I quit."
After saying that, she tugged on Darcy's hand, signaling her to go inside and talk.
"Mr. Hicks, goodbye!" Eula forced a smile and waved at him.
Elbert frowned slightly. He knew that Eula was now Judson's personal secretary. Judson had deliberately had HR hire her to keep her within his sight.
'She quit? Do they have a fight?' Elbert thought.
Eula and Darcy entered the ward. The colors inside were very warm, with pink walls and lots of cartoon dolls. Even the sofa was pink.
She felt that the VIP ward environment was much better than the regular wards downstairs.
Darcy led her into the inner ward. Estelle was still sleeping on the pink bed, looking very peaceful.
Eula relaxed. "Estelle seems much better than before."
She used to be frighteningly thin and slept restlessly. Now she seemed to have gained some weight.
Darcy walked to the bedside and tucked Estelle in. "The doctors are very professional now, and they're using the best medicine, so she's much better."
They really didn't understand before. It turned out that having money and connections was such a good thing for Estelle.
Darcy stood up and walked out of the ward with Eula, chatting in the outer lounge.
Eula didn't want to sit on that sofa. She sat in a single chair nearby, hugging a pillow.
It seemed that Elbert was quite generous, at least willing to give money and bone marrow.
"Darcy, actually, for Elbert, because of his job, his physical condition is very important. He can't have surgery."
