Chapter 267 I'm Chasing Eula

Eula burst into the kitchen, her face all red. Mary looked up and asked, "Eula, why's your face so flushed? You coming down with something?"

Eula touched her face, feeling the heat rise even more. "Nah, it's just the heater's cranked up too high," she said, trying to brush it off.

She moved to the counter. "Mary, need any help? You're swamped. Let's cook together; dinner will be ready faster. Everyone's starving."

Mary pointed to a plate of veggies. "You can handle the salad."

Eula was a pro at making salads and got right to it.

In the living room, Angie was snuggled up to Judson, watching cartoons. Judson glanced at Angie, who looked just like Eula, and felt a warm fondness for her.

He couldn't explain it, but he'd always had a soft spot for Angie since they first met. She gave him a sense of familiarity, like they'd known each other forever.

"Angie, no matter what, you can always call me. I live next door," he said.

Angie, eyes glued to the TV, frowned a bit. "But my brothers say you're bad and told me not to tell you anything about our family."

She didn't get much of it, but she liked Judson because he was the best-looking person she'd ever seen, and he reminded her of Dewitt and Rodolfo. It made her feel safe.

Judson knew Dewitt and Rodolfo had issues with him. He used to think winning over Eula meant winning over the kids too. Now, it seemed he had to win over the kids first.

"Angie, I messed up before, but I've changed. I want to treat Eula right. Will you help me? I want to be with her."

Angie looked at him with her big eyes. "Do you really like Eula? Would you be our daddy too?"

Judson raised an eyebrow. "Of course, you can call me daddy from now on."

Angie's eyes sparkled. She'd always wanted to call someone daddy. All the other kids had daddies, but she didn't. It hurt her heart.

She glanced at the dining room door and then at the stairs. Then she stood on the couch and whispered in Judson's ear, "Daddy, daddy!" She giggled after saying it.

Judson's heart skipped a beat, a warm feeling spreading through him. Angie hugged his neck and whispered again, "Daddy, Angie misses you, always has."

Judson saw tears in her eyes, knowing she longed for a father. He lifted her onto his lap and gently stroked her head. "Sweetheart, from now on, you're my daughter," he said softly.

He felt a special tenderness for Angie, and because he loved Eula, he naturally cared for her kids too.

Just then, Dewitt and Rodolfo came downstairs. Angie quickly moved off Judson's lap and distanced herself.

A hint of helplessness flashed in her eyes, but she listened to her brothers more.

Dewitt and Rodolfo walked into the living room. Dewitt glared at Judson, saying seriously, "Judson, you should stop coming around. Our mom needs to date, and you're in the way."

Rodolfo added, "Consider this meal your last supper."

Judson looked at them. Dewitt and Rodolfo were both handsome, with strong features. They'd definitely be successful when they grew up.

Judson fiddled with the wolf-patterned ring on his finger, squinting slightly. "I'm pursuing Eula," he said.
