Chapter 337 It's All Your Fault
Eula just couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears were streaming down her face, and her voice was all raspy. "Judson, you gotta pull through. Think about Mr. and Mrs. Nash. Think about the whole Nash family."
Elbert and Hugo walked in, took one look at the scene, and just shook their heads.
Hugo strolled over with a grin. "Eula, chill out. He's doing alright."
But that was a load of crap. The bullet was still in there, lodged right next to a blood vessel. If it moved even a smidge, he'd bleed out in no time.
So, they were playing it safe, leaving the bullet in for now, hoping it wouldn't shift, or waiting for a more skilled doc to handle it.
They'd talk it over with Judson once he woke up and figure out the surgery plan then.
As for Eula, they decided to keep her in the dark for now. Judson could break the news when he was ready.
Today, Hugo saw the real Eula. Her tears and fussing were genuine, and he was stoked for Judson, who'd found a girl who truly cared about him.
Eula glanced at Hugo, then gently tucked Judson's hand under the blanket.
"Is the surgery a success? He's not gonna die, right?" Eula asked bluntly. Hugo's eyes flickered with discomfort, but he nodded.
Elbert's gaze shifted to Darcy, and he said calmly, "Don't worry about Estelle. They're keeping an eye on her. Stay here with Eula today."
Given Eula's emotional state and her limited mobility, it was best for Darcy to stick around.
Darcy nodded, avoiding eye contact.
Seeing Elbert reminded her of his selfishness at night, which she couldn't stand, and her resentment grew stronger.
Elbert checked the time. "I gotta go. Got some stuff to handle."
He wasn't heading back to the base just yet; his work had been reassigned, and he needed to deal with it.
In the past, he would've left without a second thought, but now, things were different.
It seemed like he was talking to Darcy, but she didn't respond, pretending not to hear.
Hugo chuckled. Looked like Elbert had finally met his match, and he couldn't help but smile. "Go ahead! He won't wake up until tomorrow. You can see him then."
The next day, Judson woke up, looking around, clearly searching for someone.
Hugo laughed. "Judson, Eula's right here."
As expected, he was all about love over friendship, looking for Eula first thing.
Eula held his hand tight, her voice choked with sobs. "I'm here, Judson. I'm sorry!"
Judson's fingers twitched, and his pale lips moved. "Silly, don't cry."
Seeing her cry gave him a headache, and with his head already injured, it hurt even more.
Eula quickly wiped her tears. "I won't cry. As long as you're okay, I won't cry."
The people around them watched, seeing the deep affection in their eyes, and smiled.
They hoped he'd recover soon, so the two could be happy together.
For the next half month, Eula stayed in the hospital, while Judson started working a week later, right from his hospital bed.
As for the Nash family, they were told he was on a business trip and wouldn't be back for over a month.
Eula's leg had healed, though there was still a scar, but she could walk on her own now, and she felt that was good enough.
One day, Hugo and a few doctors came into the ward to discuss the bullet with Judson.
Hugo looked at Eula, who was attentively taking care of Judson. "Eula, there's a report on the third floor. Can you go grab it?"
Eula stood up abruptly, a bit startled by the doctors in white coats, as she'd been afraid of doctors since she was a kid. "Oh! I'll go right away."
As Eula left the inpatient building, she ran into Shirley and nodded slightly at her. "Shirley."
Shirley stopped her. "Eula, you're a walking disaster, it's all your fault that Geoffrey ended up like this."
