Chapter 190 It Is Not a Good Thing to Lie
A subtle shift crossed Eula's features as she lowered her gaze, noting that he showed no signs of retracting his hand. Her brow furrowed as she raised her eyes to meet his. His demeanor remained unflustered, his gaze casually flicking over her."Is something amiss?" he queried.Eula bit her lip, her thoughts racing. 'He seems oblivious. Could it be the alcohol? Regardless, I need to get him to the car first.' With this resolution, she guided him towards the exit. Each step felt like a monumental effort, threatening to bring her to her knees. She found herself questioning the necessity of his towering stature, the impracticality of his long legs. Judson, observing her struggle to assist him, allowed a smile to play on his lips. Eula, however, remained oblivious to his amusement, focusing solely on the task at hand.As they made their way outside, a group of waiters approached, seemingly intent on offering their assistance. Yet, at the sight of Judson's icy stare, they hesitated, quickly retreating. Eula, watching their hasty departure, called out, "Wait, please. I could use some help getting him into the car."The waiters shook their heads apologetically. "We're sorry, Miss. We have other duties to attend to," they explained before disappearing back into the kitchen. Eula sighed in exasperation."No compassion whatsoever," she muttered under her breath, "I'm exhausted."Judson turned to look at her, his smile broadening at her grumbling. Yet, despite her complaints, Eula persevered, summoning the strength to press on.Eventually, she managed to guide him into the elevator. Judson, leaning heavily against her, buried his face in her neck."Eula, you smell divine. What perfume do you wear?" he mumbled into her skin. Eula, perspiration trickling down her face, turned to regard him."Mr. Nash, are you intoxicated or not? I hardly think I smell pleasant," she retorted. She had long since abandoned the use of perfume, fearing it might adversely affect the health of her three children."Quite the contrary, it's a delightful scent. Sweet, even," he replied.
Eula couldn't help but smile, reaching up to pat his head. "Judson, you're rather endearing when you're drunk," she said.
His usual stern demeanor had softened, his voice taking on a gentler tone. It warmed her heart. Judson's lips grazed her neck, inhaling her scent. His eyes twinkled with amusement as he listened to her words, feeling her hand on his head as though she were stroking a pet.'She must think I'm drunk,' he mused, seizing the opportunity to plant a soft kiss on her neck, leaving a faint mark.Eula felt a slight tickle and lifted his head. "Judson, what are you doing?" she questioned, rubbing the tingling spot.Judson's gaze fell on the mark he'd left, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction. He found the mark enticing, his heart pounding in his chest. "I'm craving something sweet," he confessed, his eyes alight with mischief."Mr. Nash, where is the driver? Is he on the first floor or in the underground parking lot?" Eula asked, trying to steer the conversation back on track.
Judson's chauffeur, Dalton Joseph, was currently unavailable. "Dalton's mom is celebrating her birthday, so I gave him the day off," he explained.Eula's heart sank. 'So, we're without a car, an assistant, and a driver today?' She teetered on the brink of despair, contemplating the feasibility of hailing a taxi while supporting a drunken man. She even toyed with the idea of feigning a fainting spell, hoping someone would call an ambulance to take them home.As the elevator descended to the ground floor, Eula, supporting Judson, attracted a fair share of attention. The sight of a petite woman propping up a tall, handsome man was quite a spectacle. Eula, however, paid no heed to the onlookers. Her primary concern was reaching the roadside to hail a taxi.Judson, cooperating, managed to take a few steps. Together, they made their way to the roadside, where the taxi Eula had taken earlier was still parked. It pulled up beside them, coming to a halt."Miss, is your husband okay?" the driver asked.
