Chapter 140 Longing to Be Her Concern
With a cold tone, he instructed, "Tell her I'm not available."
After hanging up, Myles relayed to Kristina, "Miss Lowe, I'm sorry, but Judson is busy and can't see you right now."
Kristina could hear laughter from inside; Eula was clearly there. What could he possibly be busy with? Envy gnawed at her - that Eula, what tricks did she play? How could Judson just show up like that, acting practically like her child's father?
Now her classmates wouldn't believe her, convinced that Judson belonged with Eula, as a family. It was infuriating!
Yet, with security at the door, even if she wanted to confront Judson, there was no way through.
Smith Lily approached her. "Kristina, are they not letting you in?"
Kristina mustered a faint smile despite her frustration. "They say Judson is out. Eula is his secretary. Today, Judson had relatives over, and one of the kids wouldn't stop crying, so he asked Eula to take care of the child."
Smith Lily chuckled. "I see! And here I was thinking she actually had Judson's baby!"
She would have a child with Judson in a heartbeat if she could. A child would serve as a talisman, securing her connection to the Nash family, marriage or not.
But at least she'd be the mother of Judson's child, and she'd undoubtedly get a slice of his fortune.
Stepping forward, Kristina continued, "Is she worthy? She's carrying an older man's child, someone in his sixties or seventies."
Smith Lily listened, her brow unintentionally furrowing.
"That's disgusting, she really will sleep with anyone."
...
After a whole afternoon of splashing in the water, the three children were exhausted.
Fresh from their baths, the three little ones climbed into bed and promptly fell asleep.
Eula, after her own bath, saw the children lined up on the bed, fast asleep. Angie was in the middle, flanked by her two protective brothers.
She tucked them in, gazing at their increasingly handsome faces.
Their features were delicate and beautiful!
Sitting by the bed, Eula watched her three precious children, a tender smile on her lips.
Judson walked in and saw her motherly smile as she looked at the children.
His eyes deepened slightly. A woman could be so gentle, so beautiful when facing children.
It was a different side of her, and Judson felt an unexpected pull at his heart.
He slowly approached, lifting her chin with his hand.
Eula’s smile faded the instant her eyes met his.
"Judson..."
"What are you daydreaming about? Come have dinner with me, I’m starving."
Eula glanced at the children, worried.
"Myles and the others are here, they’ll be fine. You can bring something back for them later."
Feeling quite hungry herself after soaking in the hot springs all day and needing to replenish her energy, she agreed, "Okay!"
They walked side by side towards the dining area.
The setting sun cast a warm glow over the forest path. Walking shoulder to shoulder, they shared a unique moment.
Judson, hands in his pockets, looked ahead.
"Eula, are they that important to you?"
Seeing her happiness today, the way she was with the children, he felt they were her life.
Eula smiled. "Of course, they're my only concern in this world."
Judson frowned slightly. What about him?
Where did he stand with her? Surprisingly, he wanted to know.
