Chapter 129 Running into an Old Classmate

Over the next few days, Eula went to work on time, accompanying Judson as they inspected various branches.
That day, they visited Nash Group's Gold Star Mall.
Due to the celebration of New Year‘s Day, all the regional malls were holding events, and the Gold Star Mall invited the CEO to participate and speak.
Eula watched him on stage, looking dashing as he addressed the crowd and the array of cameras.
He seemed calm, speaking coolly, exuding a commanding presence that had the girls in the audience screaming, giving Eula, who was backstage, a taste of what it's like to be in the limelight.
Suddenly, a woman sidled up to her and looked closely.
"Eula, is that really you?"
Eula glanced at the woman in the sleek black business suit, with fashionable short hair.
"Resemble anyone?"
Emma Johnson laughed, "Eula, it’s me, Emma Johnson, your high school buddy! Six years, and you haven't changed a bit, still gorgeous!"
Only then did Eula remember, "Class president, it's you."
She hardly recognized her; the Emma Johnson of the past was a straight-A student with long hair and thick-rimmed glasses.
Emma Johnson nodded, "Are you Judson’s secretary now?"
As she said this, a hint of envy appeared in her eyes, thinking about how Eula had not excelled in studies, but a supportive family must have played a part in her landing such a position.
"Yes, that's right. And you work at Gold Star, Emma? What a coincidence! We're colleagues now."
Though Eula was at headquarters and Emma was at a branch, they were still under the same corporate umbrella.

Emma Johnson nodded again, "Eula, let's exchange contact info. Our class is having a reunion this Saturday, and you must come. We've had them every year and you were the only one missing; this year we can finally all be together."
Eula added Emma's contact details, feeling a bit resistant when she heard about the reunion.
After all, her past was always something people pointed out, and she didn’t want her classmates doing the same.
Emma Johnson glanced at the clock. "Eula, you've got to come, okay?"

"Sure," replied Eula, her voice carrying a note of certainty.

Judson had finished his speech and the ribbon-cutting ceremony. As he stepped off the stage, Eula quickly poured him a cup of herbal tea and handed it to him.

"Judson, it's freezing out here. Take a sip to warm up."

The event was held outdoors, and the sky looked heavy with the threat of snow; the temperature was biting. Eula's face and nose were bright red from the cold, and her hands were icy as she passed him the cup.

Judson slipped off his overcoat and draped it around her shivering shoulders before taking the cup and sipping the tea.

"I got a little nervous talking up there, worked up some body heat. Hold onto my coat for a bit, will you?"

Eula had thought about giving the coat back, insisting she wasn't cold, but seeing as he seemed overheated and didn't want to wear it, she wasn't going to complain. She snuggled into the coat, which still held his warmth, feeling a pleasant coziness envelop her.

"Let's head back to the office," Judson said to Myles standing nearby.

He felt it was necessary for him to attend today's ribbon-cutting, but seeing Eula chilled to the bone, he wished he hadn't let her come along. The office was heated; she would've been much more comfortable there.

Eula quickly gathered her things and jogged after him to the black Bentley. The car's heater was on full blast, warming her and reviving her spirits.

Her phone buzzed with a message from Emma Johnson.

“Eula, join us at the Amber Hot Springs Resort this Saturday. Please arrive on time.”
