Chapter96 Get Out
As the cries echoed from the CEO's office, Nancy, the executive secretary, pushed open the door to find a disheveled woman on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.
Taken aback for a moment, she quickly approached.
"Miss Lowe, are you okay?" she asked, helping Kristina to the couch while Kristina held her waist in pain.
"My back, oh, and my hair – Miss Lowe, why did you hit me?" Kristina whimpered, sniffling and wiping her tears, putting on quite the pitiful act.
Nancy, aware of whom Judson cared for, held her tongue.
"Miss Lowe, maybe we should take you to the hospital?"
On the floor, Eula was gathering her things – her book, some work documents, and shards of her cherished mug.
Myles had informed Judson about the scuffle in the office, and when Judson entered, he saw Eula carefully picking up the pieces of her favorite mug. Worried she might cut herself, he stayed silent, his brow furrowing slightly as he watched her wrap the fragments in a paper bag.
The mug was more than just an object to her; it was a vessel of memories with her kids. It brought a smile to her face every time she saw those four happy faces on it and motivated her to work hard, to push through any adversity for her children.
Nancy called out upon seeing Judson return.
"Judson."
Kristina's cries grew louder, "It hurts so much, feels like my back is breaking."
Eula set aside the broken mug and glanced at him.
"Judson, I'll clean up and leave immediately."
She expected him to be furious and ready to dismiss her after today's chaos, and she was prepared for it.
She couldn't stand Kristina anymore. She had patiently endured the arrogance of many men, but Kristina was too much.
Judson stood by her desk, watching her pack with a certain respect for her spine.
He realized then that Eula turned prickly whenever Kristina was involved, even ready to forfeit her job.
"Copy this document fifty times."
Eula paused, "What?"
"Who said you could leave? Do you think you can just come and go as if this were a hotel?"
His sharply sculpted face was serious, his dark eyes bore into hers.
She quickly accepted the documents, "Oh!"
Relieved she wasn't being fired – she feared she'd upset his girlfriend and it was time to take a hike.
Eula hurried off to make copies as Judson strode over to the seating area to speak with Nancy.
"Nancy, get back to work," came a voice, cool and low, chiding her for busying herself with matters other than her own responsibilities.
Nancy gave a slight nod, "Of course, Mr. Judson."
She couldn't figure out what she had done wrong. Had he assumed she was soothing Miss Lowe?
Well, it made sense. A child’s mother was naturally more important than a girlfriend.
Judson settled into the armchair, crossing his legs with an effortless grace, watching the woman opposite him who furrowed her brow in distress.
Kristina, unable to endure the weight of his piercing gaze, said through tears, "Judson, Eula's just crazy. You asked me to come to your office after work, but since I was nearby, I came early. As soon as I walked in, she hit me. I didn't even know what was going on."
