Chapter 183 The Lowe Family’s Banquet
"Eula, we are hosting a family gathering today. Now that you're back in City A, you must attend," he declared. With a pause, he continued, "Are you currently at the KFC on the square? I've already sent the driver to fetch you."Upon receiving this news, Eula glanced at the trio of children before her. The thought of her grandpa laying eyes on these three was a sure recipe for trouble. In a sudden flurry of motion, she rose and grabbed Angie's hand."Dewitt, Rodolfo, take Angie and leave through the back door. I have a pressing matter to attend to," she instructed hurriedly.Angie swiveled her head, her gaze lingering on her half-eaten fries with a tinge of reluctance. "Mommy, I don’t want to leave! I haven’t finished eating yet!" For the frail Angie, a meal at KFC was a rare treat, making Eula's unusual kindness today all the more appreciated. Angie yearned to savor a few more bites. However, before she could protest further, she was whisked out of the KFC's back door and ushered into a waiting taxi. Dewitt and Rodolfo shared her confusion, their eyes trailing back to the restaurant, curiosity piqued about their mommy's mystery meeting. They wondered why their mother seemed so unnerved.'Could it be our dad?’ Dewitt mused.
After some contemplation, the two young ones found themselves warming to the idea. After all, they shared a blood bond, and he wouldn't reject their momy. Their next mission, they decided, was to confront their absentee dad and compel him to pursue their mommy. They could then live as a contented family, free from the influence of unreliable men. However, their plans were thwarted as they didn't see anyone appear. All they could do was wave a reluctant goodbye to Eula. "Mommy, remember to come back home before ten o'clock!"
Eula responded with a nod, "Okay! Bye!"As the taxi disappeared from sight, Eula exhaled a sigh of relief. She had successfully avoided exposing the three children to her grandpa’s servant. If he had seen them, her grandpa's wrath would have been inevitable, and he might have taken it out on the children. Regardless of how daunting the Lowe family could be, she was determined to face it alone. She reclaimed her seat just as a group of men, clad in black suits, made their entrance. "Ms. Lowe, this way please!" Under the respectful gaze of the men lining the entrance, Eula made her way to a luxurious car waiting outside. As the car journeyed towards the Lowe residence, Eula watched the scenery morph as dusk fell, the vibrant neon lights painting a beautiful tableau.
The route to the Lowe’s estate was etched in her memory, a path she had traversed countless times in her youth.
The sight of the grand front gate used to fill her with excitement, signaling her arrival home. Now, however, the imposing gate stirred a sense of trepidation within her. She was uncertain of how her kin within would receive her. They had a knack for hurling hurtful words that cut deep, despite being her closest relations. The car pulled into the parking lot, and the driver courteously opened the door for Eula. She stepped out, her gaze drifting to the brightly lit main building. The family gathering was in full swing, the lively atmosphere suggesting no one was in a hurry to depart.Upon entering the living room, Eula found it filled with dancing pairs. Kristina, wine glass in hand, appeared to have indulged quite a bit.
"They're dancing so well!" she exclaimed, "Uncle, you look so handsome!"
On seeing Kristina, everyone responded with warm smiles and praises. "Kristina, you are becoming more and more sensible."Suddenly, Eula shattered her glass on the floor. Grasping the hem of her skirt, she began to dance alone, her face alight with joy. "When the Lowe family is together, it's a happy time!" she declared.
