Chapter 201 The Engagement

Mary, upon realizing the depth of her emotions, let out a soft laugh. She had been too swept up in her feelings, a sensation that was somewhat foreign to her. She had perceived a change in Dewitt, a shift from the man she once knew. She found herself unusually emotional, a state that left her feeling a touch peculiar.

Both she and Dewitt held a profound love for Eula, a bond that was as unshakeable as it was deep. Rising from her seat, Mary began to serve the food, laying out the dishes with a practiced hand.

Rodolfo, after summoning Geoffrey and Eula once more, led them into the dining room. Angie, clutching a Barbie doll in her arms, was positively radiant. As they walked, she turned to Geoffrey, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Geoffrey!"

Geoffrey responded with a warm smile. "You're welcome. I’m glad you like it." His affection for the three children and Eula was evident. The prospect of spending the rest of his life with them filled him with a sense of contentment and joy that was unparalleled. Eula, trailing behind them, took in the sight of the bustling dining table. "My dear babies, thank you for your hard work!" she exclaimed, her voice brimming with affection. ...Upon entering his home, Judson was greeted by the sight of his grandparents in the living room. He quickly changed his shoes and made his way towards them. His grandma, Jessica Nash, rose to her feet, her face lighting up. "Good evening, Judson!" As she spoke, her gaze flickered to her husband, Robert Nash. Despite Judson's agreement to marry Kristina from the Lowe family, Robert's countenance remained stern. Jessica was at a loss as to how to placate her obstinate husband. Taking Judson's arm, Jessica voiced her concern. "Judson, is the engagement distracting you?" She was aware of the demands of his work, and the added stress of the engagement left her feeling sympathetic. Judson, however, remained unperturbed. "I’m okay," he assured her. He was not overly concerned, as Myles was handling the majority of the arrangements. Approaching Robert, Judson greeted him. "Grandpa, I'm back." Robert's response was a cold glance, his gaze quickly shifting towards the door, his expression growing even frostier. Judson followed his gaze, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Grandpa, so you weren't waiting for me? Who were you waiting for?" Robert's response was a dismissive roll of his eyes, a pointed gesture towards the door, and a mumbled attempt at speech. Robert's frustration was palpable. He tapped his wheelchair impatiently, his desire to see his three great-grandchildren evident. He missed them dearly and was at a loss as to why they were absent. Judson, misinterpreting his grandfather's distress, tried to soothe him. "It is not appropriate for Kristina to come now." He was puzzled by Robert's fondness for Kristina. Robert, however, turned away, choosing to ignore everyone present. Jessica, ever the peacemaker, patted Judson's hand. "Judson, don’t take it to heart. He has been sick for so long and is short-tempered now. Let’s be tolerant." Jessica was particularly patient with Robert, understanding the toll his six-year coma had taken on him. She believed that Robert's longing for his family had played a significant role in his recovery. Their affection for Robert was unwavering, their tolerance of his temper a testament to their love. Judson had even agreed to marry Kristina in the hopes of bringing Robert some happiness in his twilight years. Judson simply nodded in agreement, accepting Jessica's words. Three days later, Judson's engagement banquet was held at the Sailboat Hotel. The grand event was broadcasted, drawing the attention of many. Kristina, under the expert hands of makeup artists and stylists, watched the footage on her phone. She turned to her mother, her voice filled with disbelief. "Mom, am I really marrying into the Nash family? It feels unreal. Pinch me. I might be dreaming." Melissa, unable to suppress her smile, shared in her daughter's excitement. The socialites who had visited them the previous day had shown a marked change in their attitude towards her. They had showered her with gifts and congratulations, their hearts seething with jealousy. Looking at Kristina, Melissa was filled with pride. Her daughter had managed to win Judson’s heart, a feat she had not anticipated.
