Chapter 11 Ryder Gets Angry

With James and others receiving punishment, the conflict at the hospital was declared over and the crowd dispersed.
Ava was placed back in the VIP ward.
Director Richard reassured Ryder that there would never be a similar incident again.
With him speaking, Ryder naturally trusted.
"Director Gaiman, I have a question for you," Ryder asked Richard.
The latter smiled and said, "Are you asking me what I whispered to James just now?"
"Yes," Ryder replied.
Richard replied seriously, "I told him it was Scott's decision, and he understood."
Ryder was somewhat puzzled.
Scott had a high position in Houston, but he wasn't a part of the hospital system. He didn't have the authority to fire James.
Richard explained, "Mr. Clark, you do not know. Our hospital is currently undergoing transformation into a private hospital. Scott, the Maple Group leader, is the largest investor. This means that Scott will become the hospital's owner, and it was easy for him to order the termination of James. I'll be honest with you. I have been on a recent overseas inspection, and I received a call from Scott yesterday saying that your sister needed surgery. I immediately arranged for the best experts within the province, and I rushed back myself."
"Due to the confidentiality of this matter, most people in the hospital are unaware of it. Otherwise, not even James would dare to do this with ten times the courage!"
Ryder suddenly realized.
The Maple Group invested in Houston First Hospital. Did this mean that they would have the final say in the hospital from now on?
It was quite interesting to think about.
At 5:30 p.m. in the evening, Ryder left the hospital to attend the dinner that Sophia had mentioned. George wanted to impress Ryder and offered him a ride, but Ryder declined.
The hospital was only a few bus stops away from The Pint House. Ryder didn't want to trouble anyone.
However, George still gave Ryder his Whatsapp and promised that he would be there whenever he needed help. Then he left with his companions.
Ryder boarded the bus heading to The Pint House.
On the way, he opened Tiktok.
The first recommended video in the local feed was a clip.
Its content was Tom and the captain of Maple Real Estate's security team in a compromising position in the bathroom. The details are not suitable to describe.
Ultimately, the comment section was flooded with various comments like "disgusting" and "will do anything for fame" which annoyed Ryder. He only watched for a few seconds before leaving, feeling a lot of emotions. Tom deserved this kind of punishment, and Ryder didn't sympathize at all. If he didn't have his current status, he would have definitely suffered even more at the hands of those people.
"You can really do whatever you want with money," he thought.
Suddenly, the phone rang. It was Sarah calling.
Ryder quickly pressed the answer button.
On the other end of the line, Sarah's irritated voice came through, "Where the hell have you been?"
Ryder replied, "Just got out of the hospital, went to grab a meal!"
"Well, how's your sister doing now?"
"The surgery was successful. She's fine! And thanks for the money you transferred this morning!"
Sarah's attitude towards Ryder was cold, but she was mostly a person with a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Otherwise, under the countless instigations from her mother Karen, she would have divorced Ryder long ago.
"It's good that everything turned out fine, but remember, the money isn't for you. It's a loan. Make sure to write an IOU and pay me back with interest!"
Sarah suddenly sighed. "Oh, and don't forget, tomorrow is the monthly family gathering. You have to come. Abigail, our cousin, has a new boyfriend, and she specifically mentioned you as someone who must attend! Everyone knows she's showing off intentionally! It's driving me crazy!"
Ryder understood that Sarah was worried about losing face by bringing him along.
But he had already gotten used to it. "Well, how about I find an excuse not to go?"
But Sarah's tone was firm. "No, you can't. Abigail has always been competing with me since we were kids. I've always outshined her in every aspect. If you don't come this time, it'll be like admitting defeat. I don't want to see her smug face. So you have come. I'll transfer two thousand dollars to you later. Buy yourself some nice clothes. We’ll go there early tomorrow."
She hung up. Soon after, Ryder received a notification of a two thousand dollar transfer.
"Women! Why do they always like comparing themselves to others?" Ryder sighed helplessly.
Ten minutes later
The bus arrived at the bus stop near The Pint House.
Just as Ryder was walking towards the hotel's plaza parking lot, a white BMW suddenly darted out.
Ryder quickly dodged and jumped away, narrowly avoiding being hit.
The white BMW parked in a nearby parking space, and a woman wearing a low-cut dress and sunglasses got out.
She had a good figure and looked about the same age as Ryder. Before he could say anything, she pointed at him and scolded, "Can't you fucking watch where you're going? You damaged my car! Can you afford to pay for it?"
Ryder looked innocent and said, "Come on, I was walking just fine. It was you who suddenly dashed out and nearly hit someone, alright?"
The woman with sunglasses was being unreasonable. "I can drive however I want. What's it to you? The more I look at you, the less you seem like a good person. Are you trying to scam me for money?"
Ryder couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"We can investigate your dash cam or check nearby surveillance footage. If it's determined that I caused the accident, I can compensate you, okay?"
The other person looked Ryder up and down and spat on the ground disdainfully. "Looking at someone like you, even if I sold you, I wouldn't be able to cover the cost!"
Ryder turned his head and looked at the white BMW, thinking that it was worth at most three or four hundred thousand dollars.
It couldn't even compare to the daily interest he had in the bank from his 10 billion pocket money. Truly exaggerating!
"Whether I can afford to compensate or not is another matter. Let's check the dash cam right now!"
A hint of panic flashed in the woman's eyes behind her sunglasses. She glanced at her watch impatiently and said to Ryder, "Forget it! I have a dinner appointment later, and I don't want to argue with you today. Let's just say I encountered bad luck."
After finishing speaking, she didn't bother to look back and walked towards the entrance of the Fly Restaurant.
Ryder, who was left behind, forced a bitter smile.
This little incident didn't bother Ryder at all. He walked to the entrance of the restaurant and saw the woman with sunglasses talking on the phone, saying that she had arrived and asking someone to come to pick her up.
The woman with sunglasses hung up the phone.
Noticing Ryder beside her, she frowned and sneered, "Why are you following me? Are you trying to extort money again?"
Ryder rolled his eyes and replied, "I'm here to eat!"
The woman with sunglasses didn't believe him and scornfully said, "Look at this place. With your poor appearance, do you really think you can come here to eat? Let me tell you, even if you want to enter, you need a reservation. Otherwise, you won't even be allowed at the door!"
She turned to the doorman and warned, "This person just tried to cause an accident with me in the parking lot. He's no good. Drive him away quickly. What if he sneaks in and steals something from your restaurant?"
The two doormen glanced at Ryder and saw that he did look like a poor person. They screamed, "Get lost, don't stand at the entrance of the restaurant!"
