Chapter 83 Arturo's Dinner Invitation!
The next day, Ryder arrived at the company early. Sarah hadn't even gone back home last night.
After Andy left with his people yesterday, Sarah entered into a frenzy of rage. With only seven employees under her, she had to personally participate in all the tasks.
It was a busy day. She stayed up all night, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes.
Ryder felt a bit sorry for her and advised Sarah to lighten her workload and take some breaks, but she sternly refused.
Emily and the other six employees had also busied themselves to the point of mental and physical exhaustion. However, the results were not very promising.
Due to Andy's interference, many suppliers, who heard the news through various channels, began to distance themselves from Sarah.
Consequently, despite working tirelessly for a day and night, they couldn't secure enough suppliers, let alone obtaining raw materials within two days.
Even so, Sarah and her team were undeterred. "With such leaders and employees, how can we not achieve great things?"
Ryder, sitting at the entrance of the company, played games on his phone while lamenting. The reason he wasn't helping out was not that he didn't want to, but rather because he wasn't familiar with the building materials business and had little to offer.
Sarah couldn't bear to see him idle, so she asked him to guard the entrance, coinciding with his role as the Chief of Security at Maple Real Estate.
This disappointed the other employees greatly. Kelly sighed, "Yesterday, when I heard Ryder's words, I thought he had a plan. Turns out I was mistaken."
Bella grumbled with frustration, "I just don't understand. Sarah is such an excellent girl, why did she end up with such an incompetent husband? I'm not expecting him to become rich and successful, but he should at least do something within his capabilities. I swear, when I look for a husband in the future, I will never choose someone like him!"
Emily let out a deep sigh.
"Actually, Ryder is a decent guy. He is pretty honest. But in the end, he's just not capable enough, which makes him incompatible with Sarah. As an observer, I don't think Sarah likes him that much; it's more like she pities him! They might even get divorced one day!"
"Anyway, let's stick with Sarah and give it our all," Kelly exclaimed, pumping her fist to encourage everyone.
Soon, it was noon.
Sitting by the door, Ryder suddenly saw Sarah walking out.
Ryder quickly asked, "Honey, where are you going?"
"Mr. Morrison just called and invited me to have a meal at The Pint House."
"A meal?" Ryder expressed his confusion.
"I think there might still be room for cooperation in the construction materials business. I must go. If I can reach an agreement with Mr. Morrison and expand through his connections, there might be a chance to fulfill the betting agreement's requirement! I'm heading over!" Sarah said anxiously.
Ryder furrowed his brows and asked, "Should I go with you?"
Sarah frowned impatiently and replied, "You don't understand. You will only cause trouble. Just stay at the company and watch the gate!"
With that, she got in the car, started the engine, and drove away.
Watching Sarah's Mazda disappear, Ryder frowned and pondered.
He felt that Mr. Morrison suddenly asking Sarah to have a meal wasn't quite right!
To be safe, he immediately hopped on his electric scooter and followed along.
The Pint House
Sarah, led by the waiter, arrived at the entrance to a private room.
The waiter said, "Mr. Morrison is inside."
"Thank you, you can go back to work now."
Sarah was a little nervous at this moment.
As everyone knew, The Pint House was the finest hotel in Houston.
Prices were high, and it was rare for ordinary business cooperation to take place here.
Arturo specifically chose this location for the meal, clearly attaching great importance to this meeting.
Naturally, this increased the pressure on Sarah.
"Come on, Sarah! You can bring back the cooperation!" Sarah tried to encourage herself.
She pushed the door open.
Inside the private room, Arturo sat in a chair, dressed very formally, but his greasy aura was still evident.
Behind Arturo stood two bodyguards.
The meal had already been ordered.
"Sorry for being late, Mr. Morrison!" Sarah apologized.
Arturo quickly stood up, rubbing his hands together and smiling. "No problem, come sit down quickly. The food might get cold if we wait any longer!"
Sarah sat in the chair across from Arturo.
Upon seeing this, Arturo's face displayed a trace of displeasure. "You're sitting so far away, we can't even hear each other clearly. I wanted to discuss cooperation, but this way..."
"Sorry, Mr. Morrison, I will come over right away!"
Sarah smiled awkwardly and walked over to sit next to Arturo.
"That's better!" Arturo expressed satisfaction with a grunt and exchanged a glance with the two bodyguards.
Without a word, the two bodyguards walked out of the private room and stood watch outside, leaving the room to Arturo and Sarah alone.
"Mr. Morrison, I came here today to discuss the matter of raw material cooperation with you. You may not know, but currently I..."
Sarah hadn't finished speaking before Arturo interrupted her. "You want to discuss work without even having a drink first? This is a bit too much, isn't it?"
Sarah felt a bit embarrassed and said, "Mr. Morrison, as you know, I don't drink!"
Arturo's face darkened and he said, "I have a habit: no drinking, no cooperation! If you're unwilling to drink, then you're free to leave."
"I..." Sarah felt extremely anxious.
How could she not see that Arturo was deliberately trying to make her drink?
If it were before, when they were counteracting each other in cooperation, she could come up with various reasons to refuse.
But now, the decision-making power was all in his hands!
After struggling and hesitating for a moment, she could only grit her teeth and force out a smile. "Mr. Morrison, please don't be angry, I'll drink! Is it alright if I drink?"
She poured some red wine into the glass and drank it in one gulp.
Because she was in a hurry to drink, she choked and coughed a few times.
This scene instantly made Arturo's mouth dry.
In fact, since the day he first laid eyes on Sarah, he had realized that she was a perfect beauty.
Even if it meant sacrificing a few years of his life, it would be worth it to enjoy her.
During their previous collaborations, he had attempted numerous times to test her, but Sarah always skillfully deflected his attempts, leaving him with an itching desire.
But today was different!
He definitely wouldn't let her go.
Arturo stood up and poured a glass of wine for Sarah with a lewd smile on his face as he said, "You were late, so you should be punished with another glass!"
