Chapter 592 Ryder is No Good!
So, for the next couple of days, Tyler kept showing up at the hospital with two bouquets of blue roses, one for Barbara, one for Anna.
Barbara's bouquet always had a sweet little card tucked in, filled with heartfelt love notes.
Every time Anna got her flowers, she'd tease Barbara, saying how unlucky she was—dumped by her ex, Ken, and now only getting these second-hand roses.
Barbara wasn't exactly thrilled by Tyler's attention.
But deep down, she was kind of touched. At least he was better than her brother-in-law, Ryder!
Since their blunt chat, she hadn't seen Ryder around, noe clue what he was up to. He didn't even bother to visit her!
Though, every morning, the guy named Rex would drop off a basket of fruit.
Practical, sure, but super annoying.
Just as Barbara was thinking this, she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!"
With her permission, the door opened.
And there was Tyler, holding two bouquets of blue roses, walking in.
"How are you feeling? Any better?"
"What do you want to eat? I'll get it for you. A new dessert shop just opened, and I heard it's really good. I remember you used to love sweets. How about I get you some to try?"
"Or do you want to go for a walk? I'll accompany you. Getting some sun this season is good for your health!"
Tyler's eyes were full of concern and tenderness.
Barbara, however, responded as she had the past few days, indifferently:
"Okay."
"No need."
"No."
She turned him down one by one.
Barbara couldn't quite explain why, but she just didn't want to interact much with Tyler.
Tyler could sense Barbara's distance.
But he could also feel that Barbara's attitude towards him had improved a lot compared to the past few days.
All of this was the result of his painstaking efforts these days!
To make Barbara fall in love with him, Tyler would go home every night and learn from relationship experts how to pursue a girl.
Actually, Tyler was reluctant, feeling like he was too low.
But he had no choice.
The urgent task was to make Barbara fall in love with him, and then use Barbara and Anna's friendship to bring the Young family closer to the Jones family.
Tyler continued to be attentive.
Barbara responded with a polite and measured smile.
A few minutes later, Anna knocked and came in.
Unlike the previous times, today Anna's eyes were clearly red and swollen. She had obviously been crying.
Barbara, worried and puzzled, urgently asked, "Anna, who bullied you?"
Anna shook her head, then walked over to the bedside and sat down.
Sniffling, she said to Barbara with a tearful voice, "Barbara, my family has come for me. I have to go!"
"What? But didn't you say that once you go back, your family will force you to marry that old man?"
Anna gave a bitter smile. "That old man doesn't mind that I've been in a relationship. He even says he likes my bold and passionate personality! So be it! At worst, I'll inherit his fortune once he dies, and at least I'll be a very wealthy widow!"
Then, Anna looked at Tyler and Barbara with a playful smile. "Maybe this is my fate, unlike you who found a good guy like Mr. Young! You better appreciate him!"
"And Mr. Young, you better treat Barbara right! If you mess up, don't blame me for being harsh! Even though I'm being forced by the Jones family, dealing with a noble from Aurora City like you is still a walk in the park for me!"
Tyler made a vow, "Yes, Anna, you're right! Don't worry, I'll definitely treat Barbara well!"
Barbara, looking confused, frowned slightly. "What's all this? I don't get it. Anna, what's going on with you?"
Anna opened her arms and hugged Barbara. "Alright, Barbara, goodbye! I hope you find happiness! And remember what I said, your brother-in-law Ryder is no good, stay away from him!"
"But..."
While Barbara was still stunned, Anna had already closed the door and left.
Barbara got up to chase after her, but Tyler grabbed her arm.
Touched, Barbara instinctively pulled her arm back.
Barbara felt a bit awkward and avoided Tyler's gaze. "Sorry, I didn't mean to! It's just that Anna left so suddenly, I have to find out what's going on! Even though I've lost two years of memory, I know her well. If she were really so easily compromised, she wouldn't have chosen to leave that family in the first place!"
Tyler sighe. "You can't handle this."
Barbara squinted. "What do you mean?"
Tyler explained earnestly, "The breakup between Ken and Anna has become widely known, and naturally, the Jones family is aware of it! Moreover, I heard that the head of the Jones family, Anna's aunt, is planning to send Anna's biological parents to prison because of business issues."
"In short, this is not something you can decide, Barbara! Do you understand what I mean?"
Barbara frowned. "Forcing someone into marriage is illegal!"
Tyler rubbed his forehead. "But didn't Anna just say that once she marries that old man and he dies, she'll inherit his fortune and become a wealthy widow? Isn't that what most girls really think? Maybe Anna wants that outcome!"
"But..." She hesitated. Such realistic words coming from a deeply affectionate rich kid like Tyler seemed out of place.
So, was this how he viewed girls?
Curious, Barbara shifted the topic and asked, "So, is that how you see me too?"
"Of course not!" Tyler realized he had misspoken and decided to go along with it, "Besides, I'm not an old man about to die! I'm still young and have plenty of time to spend with you, growing old together. Just think about how wonderful that would be."
Sure enough, hearing this, Barbara realized she had misunderstood Tyler, her face even blushing.
Tyler seized the opportunity and prepared to take out a ring from his pocket to propose.
Just then, the doorbell of the hospital room rang.
"Who is it?"
Tyler had to suppress his impulse and walked over to open the door.
When he saw the familiar figure standing at the door, his eyes widened instantly, shouting, "Ryder! It's you!"
Damn it! It was always this guy ruining his plans!
