Chapter 399 That's it?
Ryder shot Jack a confident grin, "Thanks for the heads-up, Jack. I'll keep my eyes peeled!"
Then, he and Barbara hopped into Rex's ride and took off.
As the car disappeared, Jack muttered under his breath, "Houston's business scene might be in for a shake-up!"
In the car, Barbara pouted and whined, "Someone was acting all high and mighty in the clothing store earlier, feeling all smug."
Ryder shot back, "Can you not be so crude? Let's talk about something deeper!"
"Well." Barbara's eyes sparkled with mischief. "You never answered my question in the store. Do you think this outfit looks good on me?"
Barbara was still rocking the new JK uniform she just bought. She swung her leg wrapped in white stockings, giving Ryder a clear view.
He had to admit, it was a sight to behold, but he quickly looked away and said, "It's alright."
Barbara blinked, stunned. "That's it?"
Ryder shrugged, "What else?"
"You..." Barbara puffed her cheeks, looking super annoyed!
She thought her looks and figure were top-tier, even better than some celebs and influencers!
She couldn't believe Ryder's half-hearted response.
With a playful glint in her eyes, she teased, "Seems like you're not into this JK uniform! How about I try on that sailor suit you bought? Bet you'd love that, huh? If I wear it, you'll see real charm!"
Ryder smirked, "Sorry, that sailor suit's for Sarah. She'd look way more 'charming' in it, don't you think?"
His words hit Barbara hard, leaving her speechless!
She knew she wasn't lacking in looks, legs, or skin compared to Sarah, but the difference in cup size was huge between A and D, making her feel less attractive!
Ryder, feeling victorious in the convo with Barbara, leaned back in his seat, savoring the moment.
But just a few seconds after closing his eyes, the car screeched to a halt.
Ryder opened his eyes and asked Rex, "What's up?"
Rex pointed ahead. "Ryder, someone's blocking our way with their car!"
Ryder looked ahead and saw a red sedan in their path.
Then he saw a woman step out of the car!
Ryder's first thought was Elena, as she had blocked his way with her car a few days ago.
But as the woman got closer, Ryder realized it was Abigail!
He frowned, wondering what she was doing here.
Abigail swayed her hips as she walked up to their car, knocked on the window, and arrogantly said, "Get out of the car!"
Ryder rolled down the window and asked Abigail, "What's the deal?"
Abigail glanced inside the car and saw Barbara sitting there, wearing a super cute and sexy JK uniform.
She snorted and sneered, "No wonder she hasn't been coming home lately, turns out she's been hanging out with you! And wearing that outfit!"
Ryder frowned and said in a low voice, "If you got something to say, spit it out. Don't waste my time."
Abigail felt a twinge of discomfort. Ryder had never been nice to her since day one!
But she was used to his attitude. She glared at him and said, "Of course, I got something serious. Wanna know who really killed Kenneth?"
Ryder's eyes narrowed. "You got something?"
Abigail nodded, a hint of pride in her eyes. "Duh! Why else would I be here? I'd rather be partying at the bar."
Ryder said, "So you're here to spill the truth? What's the catch?"
Abigail was taken aback. "How'd you know I got conditions?"
Ryder rolled his eyes. "You are all about the benefits. Just cut to the chase."
Abigail smirked. "I want 10 million bucks! Give me that in cash, and I'll tell you everything."
Ryder was surprised!
Given what he knew about Abigail, she probably never had 10 million in her life, yet she was asking for it!
So Ryder asked, "Then spill what you know first!"
Abigail glanced inside the car, a bit wary. "I'll tell you, but not here. Get in my car, and I'll tell you there! Scared?"
Ryder replied calmly, "Not at all! Go ahead.."
Without hesitation, Ryder stepped out.
Barbara looked worried. "Ryder, isn't it too risky to go alone?"
Ryder chuckled. "Relax, even if I'm not strong, Abigail can't do squat to me."
Abigail pouted in displeasure but kept quiet, knowing she couldn't win an argument with Ryder.
Ryder followed Abigail into her car, taking the shotgun seat while she sat in the driver's seat.
Ryder got straight to the point. "Show me your evidence."
Abigail didn't waste time. She pulled out her phone, found a recording, and hit play.
The audio featured a conversation between two people.
The voices were very familiar.
The chat was about Sandra telling Heather how she killed Kenneth and framed Ryder for it!
But halfway through, Abigail paused the recording!
With an expectant look, Abigail asked, "What do you think? Isn't this bombshell info surprising? Totally unexpected, right?"
Ryder raised an eyebrow, looking a bit impatient. "That's it?"
Abigail was stunned. "What do you mean?"
Ryder said calmly, "I mean, I kinda saw this coming! So, this info isn't that valuable to me. If I knew this, I wouldn't have bothered coming with you. Total waste of time!"
Saying this, Ryder made a move to get out of the car!
