Chapter 553 The Auction!
Three days later, in the morning.
New York's biggest media outlets dropped the bombshell: the Young Group is auctioning off the Rigal District Stadium at the Land Management Department Hall tomorrow at 10 AM sharp!
Cue the drama—it's the Young family in the spotlight again!
And it's all about the Rigal District Stadium again!
Back in the day, Tyler Young snagged that land for a jaw-dropping $3 billion.
Now, the Youngs are putting it back on the block!
This news sent shockwaves through the city's business scene—everyone's talking!
However, everyone felt that they was doing the right thing!
After all, there had been rumors of the Rigal District Stadium being haunted.
The workers were witnesses, spreading the word, and no worker or construction team was willing to work there.
The rich kids were witnesses, too, telling their parents at home, and those wealthy businessmen were the most superstitious, naturally unwilling to participate in the auction.
Tyler, needless to say, had even set up a shrine to the Grim Reaper in his room.
Additionally, media personalities like Donna and Brandon have been spreading the news online.
A large number of netizens firmly believe: the Rigal Distric Stadium is haunted!
But when it came to the Young family's auction the next day, plenty of folks were itching to show up just for the entertainment.
First, they wanted to see the cocky Young family embarrass themselves.
Second, they were curious if some sucker would actually buy it—giving them something to gossip about over drinks.
Meanwhile, in the villa closest to the Rigal District Stadium—the one Anthony just bought—the entire Johnson family, including Abigail, who'd recently returned, was gathered in the dining room for breakfast. Andy, however, was nowhere in sight.
Anthony snapped at Matthew, "Where the hell is Andy? This is the moment for Synergy Innovations to hit New York. What's he doing? Honestly, I'm starting to think Sarah and Ryder should be running the Johnson family from now on!"
Matthew's expression darkened. "Anthony, it's because of that damn haunted Rigal Sports Complex. Andy got hurt when Abigail came back last time. He's still in the hospital."
Abigail, mid-bite of her breakfast, froze.
Matthew did it on purpose!
Sure enough, Anthony's old eyes glanced at Abigail, his gaze cold, "Useless people!"
"Anthony, I'm not!" Abigail protested, her face full of hurt. "Anthony, trust me! Since the Johnson family's still giving me a shot, I'll pull my weight. I'll make it count!"
"Now that's what I like to hear," Anthony said, letting out a small sigh. "Alright, Abigail, call Andy tomorrow. Even if his leg's busted, tell him to crawl to the Young family's auction. It's all about connections, after all."
Upon hearing this, Abigail was delighted. "Okay, Anthony! I guarantee to complete the task!"
Anthony added, "Remember, do not offend my grandson-in-law Ryder! Otherwise, you will all be kicked out of the Johnson family!"
Abigail nodded.
Even without Anthony's reminder, she knew very well that Ryder is now the chairman of Maple Group, and she couldn't curry favor with him enough!
There was no way she would offend him!
"Anthony, speaking of which, I've got some juicy news," Matthew cut in.
"Oh?"
Matthew leaned in. "Kyle just hit the jackpot—he's become a matrilocal son-in-law for the Moores! Married their only heir. He's got some game!"
The room buzzed with chatter:
"The Moores? Damn, Ernest's family's on fire! Sarah married the Maple Group chairman, and now Kyle's landed a golden ticket!"
"We've gotta swing by the Moores' place sometime, meet Karen and Kyle."
Abigail listened, her resolve to marry into money burning even brighter.
Anthony slammed his hand on the table, his voice sharp. "So he's a kept man for the Moores, and you're all falling over yourselves to lick their boots? Focus on ourselves first!"
The room quickly fell in line:
"Right, Anthony's got a point!"
"Exactly, Ryder's a Johnson now, but Kyle? He's just a trophy husband for the Moores."
"For all we know, Kyle's probably on his knees scrubbing Jasmine's feet right now, ha!"
Little did they know, they were dead on.
Over at the Moore mansion, Kyle was, in fact, on his knees, washing Jasmine's feet.
But Jasmine was not satisfied, spitting angrily, "Kyle, you useless thing! Ever heard of a foot massage? You're supposed to work the feet, got it?"
"Got it, Jasmine. Just tell me if it's too much, and I'll ease up."
Kyle crouched low, hands in the basin, diligently working on her feet.
No complaints.
At least on the surface, he seemed perfectly fine with it!
Karen watched from the side.
How could she not understand that Kyle was enduring humiliation to achieve his goals?
A pang of bitterness surged in her heart, and Karen turned around to wipe away a tear.
Suddenly, there was a "bang"!
The foot basin was kicked over!
Hot water splashed all over Kyle.
A slap landed, instantly leaving five finger marks on his face.
The next second, Jasmine kicked the foot basin again.
It flew through the air and landed smack on Karen's head.
The basin spun a few times before Karen wobbled and crashed to the floor, dazed.
Jasmine had been about to chew Kyle out for hurting her foot, but seeing the basin upside down on Karen's head, she burst out laughing. "Looks like even my basin knows who's boss! It's got a knack for dealing with trash!"
It turned out that recently, Karen had been dressing flamboyantly, even catching the eye of Jasmine's husband Gabriel.
How could Jasmine tolerate that!
So she deliberately kicked the foot basin at Karen.
Unexpectedly, the force was just right!
Hahaha, it was truly satisfying!
Seeing this, Kyle got up to help his mother Karen.
But after meeting his mother-in-law Jasmine's warning gaze, he stopped in his tracks, not moving an inch.
"Kyle, you're doing well! Now that's how a Moore son-in-law should act!" Jasmine was clearly impressed. "Oh, and the Youngs are throwing an auction tomorrow. Tag along with Gabriel's assistant, Ivan, and scope it out."
"Yes, Jasmine, you're so kind! Thank you, Jasmine!" Kyle said cheerfully.
Jasmine then ordered Karen, who was lying on the ground, "Get up! Lisa should be awake by now. Go heat up breakfast so Kyle can take it to her!"
Kyle chimed in, "Yeah, Karen, hurry up with the food! Lisa's been through hell lately—we can't risk her skipping a meal!"
Karen stumbled to her feet, muttering, "Right, right, I'm on it."
She wobbled her way to the kitchen, barely keeping it together.
