Chapter 449 Uninvited Guest
At that moment, Heather's face darkened a bit.
She couldn't help but grumble, "This damn weather, no respect at all! If I'd known it was gonna rain, I would've booked the hotel for the banquet. Now all the guests are getting soaked, and that's just a mess!"
Right then, Andy, who was standing next to her, popped his head out and said with a grin, "Grandma, don't worry, I got this covered!"
With that, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
In less than three minutes, a truck rolled up to the gate, and eight workers hopped out, quickly setting up metal frames and rain shelters in the yard.
In under ten minutes, the whole yard was covered, and the banquet seats were all cleaned up nicely!
The party could go on without a hitch!
Seeing this, Heather nodded in satisfaction and praised Andy, "Good job! Trusting you with the banquet was definitely the right call!"
Andy beamed with pride and said, "It's all thanks to you. I've learned so much from you!"
With that, the guests returned to the yard and took their seats.
Just then, Abigail suddenly remembered something and asked Heather, "Grandma, Sarah is still kneeling outside."
Heather snorted coldly. "Ignore her. Let her get soaked in the rain. If you ask me, it's her fault the weather turned bad. She deserves to suffer a bit!"
Hearing this, Abigail smirked and didn't bring it up again.
The birthday banquet continued!
Guests arrived one by one, bringing gifts, offering blessings, and taking their seats!
The Johnson family members mingled with the guests!
Everyone was having a great time!
Except for Sarah, who was still kneeling at the gate, letting the cold rain drench her.
The rain had soaked Sarah's clothes completely.
Already weak, her face had turned pale, and she was trembling uncontrollably in the rain.
She almost collapsed several times, but thinking of Ryder still suffering in prison, she had to hold on!
As long as she could save Ryder, she didn't care if this would leave any lasting effects on her body!
She was willing to give up everything!
Soon it was 11:30!
By now, all the guests had arrived!
There were about two to three hundred people, filling the entire yard!
The main table was set in the hall!
Only the core members of the Johnson family and people like Tyler, who had absolute status, were allowed to sit there!
Tyler looked at the time and then at the guests in the yard.
He realized it was time to make his move!
He stood up, cleared his throat, and said to Heather, "Grandma, today is your 70th birthday banquet. I have a gift for you. Happy birthday!"
With that, he took out a round metal box and handed it to Heather!
Seeing the intricately carved metal box, Heather's eyes lit up.
Feigning modesty, she said, "Mr. Young, we're all family. There's no need for gifts!"
Tyler smiled and said, "That's why I value this birthday banquet even more. Grandma, please accept it!"
"Alright!" Heather nodded in satisfaction.
She wanted to show off in front of the many guests, so she slowly opened the metal box in front of everyone!
The moment it opened, her eyes widened, sparkling with delight!
Inside the metal box was a pearl the size of an egg yolk, pure white, with a faint glow on its surface!
Of course, this thing had another name: the Night Pearl!
Everyone at the table couldn't help but gape.
"Holy crap, such a big Night Pearl! I've only seen this in TV shows. Didn't think it actually existed!"
"It's gorgeous! If this were set in a necklace or ring, it would definitely show off one's status!"
"Don't waste it like that. The Night Pearl should stand alone. Anything else would just look cheap next to it!"
Seeing everyone's amazement at the Night Pearl, Tyler's lips curled into a proud smile as he continued, "This Night Pearl was acquired by my father three years ago at a private auction. It has a long history and is extremely valuable. Over the past century, it has changed hands numerous times, and my father finally bought it for a cool million dollars. Today, I present it to you as a birthday gift, showcasing Grandma's wisdom and authority!"
These words caused the guests to exclaim: "A century-old Night Pearl! No wonder it's worth a million dollars! Incredible!"
"Both are sons-in-law of the Johnson family. Ryder is now imprisoned, while Mr. Young is giving a Night Pearl."
"The Johnsons are definitely on the rise. Since the Youngs from New York City think so highly of them, we could really benefit from getting on their good side."
Heather felt very proud as she basked in the guests' flattery!
This Night Pearl indeed showcased her status in Houston!
Time slowly passed!
It was now 11:55!
According to Houston's customs, the banquet would officially start at 11:58!
The rain outside was still pouring!
Andy reminded, "Grandma, there are three minutes left until the banquet officially starts. Sarah is still kneeling outside. I think she might actually complete this agreement. What do you plan to do?"
Heather raised her eyelids and snorted, "So what if she completes the agreement? She still opposes the Johnson family! When the banquet starts, go and grab the signed transfer agreement from Sarah."
She paused before saying, "Then kick her out."
Hearing this, the others were first stunned, then they all started praising her for being so experienced, having planned this all along, deliberately making Sarah suffer!
When it was 11:58, Lawrence stood up and announced in a high-pitched voice, "The banquet begins!"
The kitchen staff brought out the prepared food and placed it on the tables!
Andy, feeling smug, ran to the gate, ready to give Sarah one last humiliation!
Upon seeing Sarah at the gate, drenched and swaying, on the verge of fainting with a dazed look, he sneered inwardly.
Just as Andy was about to speak, the sound of orderly footsteps echoed in the distance.
Andy looked up and saw a group of people in black walking over!
In the rain, every step they took on the ground was so heavy!
At least a hundred of them!
And among this group of people in black, the one leading at the front was so familiar.
