Chapter 417 His Smug Face

Jadewood Group, based in Houston, was all about leather goods—think clothes and bags for the mid-range crowd.

Lately, they’d been making waves in Houston.

Their stuff was getting pretty popular in Texas.

To keep the momentum going, Jadewood Group decided to splash some serious cash on celebs for ads and gigs.

Everyone at Jadewood was on high alert, making sure nothing went sideways.

But who would've guessed some punk would start messing with Ken's crew? Talk about a slap in the face for the company!

Percy was fuming. 'I don't care who it is. I'm gonna make them regret for causing me trouble!'

Right then, Ryder stepped up, cool as a cucumber, and said, "It's me!"

The crowd was a bit taken aback. They didn't think this dude had the guts.

'Wanna play hero? Fine, we'll see how tough you are.' Maria gave a nod to the other fans, and they got the message.

Chaos ensued.

"This is the guy giving Ken trouble. Mr. Wheeler, you gotta back Ken up!"

"Ken's never been disrespected like this. If Jadewood Group doesn't handle it, do you know what it'll do to your brand?"

"If Jadewood Group doesn't give us a good answer, this ain't over!"

These fans were no joke.

Percy heard all this and glared at Ryder.

His face darkened, and he snapped, "You got the nerve to mess with Ken, our guest? Do you have a death wish?"

Ken's manager jumped in, yelling at Percy, "Mr. Wheeler, you see this? This guy's got some nerve! You gonna do something or what?"

Percy’s face turned stone-cold. He waved his hand and barked at the bodyguards, "Grab this punk and teach him a lesson! Show him Jadewood Group ain't to be messed with!"

The bodyguards cracked their knuckles and moved in on Ryder.

"Bring it on! I dare you!"

Rex stepped in front of Ryder, looking like a beast ready to pounce.

Feeling Rex's vibe, the bodyguards hesitated, unsure if they should go ahead.

They'd been around long enough to sense when someone was out of their league.

This big guy was definitely not someone to mess with, but Percy didn't get it.

Seeing his bodyguards freeze, he kicked one and cursed, "What are you waiting for? Go! Whoever takes down that cocky guy first gets double pay!"

With that kind of cash on the line, the bodyguards gritted their teeth and charged in!

Crash!

In just seven or eight moves, Rex had them all laid out on the ground, groaning in pain. The difference in strength was just too much!

Percy was stunned. Looking at his guys on the floor and then at Rex, he started shaking and stammered, "You hit them! How dare you hit people in public!"

Ryder shrugged and said, "It was self-defense, plain and simple."

"Stop twisting the facts!" Percy was sweating bullets, furious and humiliated in front of everyone, especially Ken's crew.

Grinding his teeth, Percy spat out, "If you’ve got the guts, tell me your name. I swear, you'll regret this!"

Ryder raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "Ryder."

"Who? Ryder?"

Percy sneered at first, but then something clicked. He'd heard that name before!

But he couldn't place it right away.

Then Ryder added, "Ryder from Maple Real Estate."

Percy's eyes went wide. "It's you?"

He finally remembered!

Ryder's name had been buzzing around Houston's high society, especially after that big showdown with Mark. And just this morning, news broke that Mark was dead, with Ryder coming out on top.

People in the know saw Ryder as the new king of Houston, with Maple Real Estate under his belt and big shots like George and Josh backing him. Jadewood Group, worth just over a billion, was no match for him!

Plus, Jadewood Group was looking for a commercial loan to expand, and everyone knew Ryder was tight with David, the CEO of Houston Bank. Pissing off Ryder meant cutting off their cash flow!

Realizing this, Percy's arrogance melted away. He quickly stepped forward, bowing slightly and smiling nervously. "Oh! Mr. Clark! I didn’t recognize you! My bad. Please, don’t take it to heart!"

Ryder replied coolly, "Oh! Am I that famous now?"

"Of course, in Houston, everyone knows your name!" Percy laughed nervously, terrified of saying the wrong thing and ticking Ryder off.

The sudden shift left the fans and Ken's team totally confused.

Percy, trying to salvage the situation, asked Ryder, "Mr. Clark, how do you think we should handle this?"

Ryder flashed an innocent smile, handed Percy an ice cream, and said, "Go smear this ice cream on Ken's face. Don't wanna see his smug face."
