Chapter 393 Pay Me The Money You Owe

Ryder and Barbara pulled up at the entrance of this swanky Japanese clothing store in a high-end mall.

Barbara, hands behind her back, grinned at Ryder, "Let's hit this one up!"

So, they strolled into the store.

As soon as they stepped in, Ryder's eyes popped at the sight of all the Japanese-style threads—JK uniforms, kimonos, casual wear—way more than he'd ever seen on TV or in movies.

"Welcome!" The sales assistant beamed, "This store just opened, and all our stuff is imported. What kind of style are you looking for, miss?"

Barbara scoped out the clothes and then turned to Ryder, "Which one do you think would look bomb on me?"

Ryder scratched his head, grinning awkwardly, "I dunno much about this stuff. Just grab whatever you like!"

Barbara pouted, "Seriously? I dragged you here for your opinion! You gotta pick one for me today!"

Ryder sighed, "Alright."

He glanced around and noticed most of the clothes were JK uniforms. They all had short hemlines, and with Barbara's long legs, she'd look way hotter than those TikTok girls!

But, Barbara wasn't exactly busty, so it lacked a bit of that oomph.

Now, if Sarah wore something like this, she'd totally nail that sexy-cute vibe!

Sarah always rocked that business attire, all professional and serious, which made Ryder even more curious to see her in some Japanese-style getup, just for him!

'Should I sneak a few sets for her?'

That thought popped into Ryder's head.

"Hey! What are you spacing out for? Pick something for me already!"

Barbara's voice snapped Ryder back to reality.

He nodded, scanned the racks, and quickly pointed to a mostly white JK uniform. "How about this one?"

"Ugh! Typical guy taste!" Barbara pouted but still asked the sales assistant to grab the JK uniform and headed to the fitting room.

Changing would take a bit.

With nothing else to do, Ryder wandered around the store, hoping to find something for Sarah.

Suddenly, his eyes landed on a sailor uniform!

Even though Ryder didn't know much about this stuff, he could tell it was top-notch from the style and material!

And the size was perfect for Sarah!

Just picturing her in that sailor uniform made his heart race!

Right then, the sales assistant chimed in, "Sir, this is our latest model, and it's flying off the shelves. This is the last one. If you don't snag it now, it might be gone soon!"

Ryder nodded, "Alright, wrap this one up for me."

Just then, a woman's voice cut in, "Wrap up that sailor uniform for me. I'm buying it!"

Ryder and the sales assistant turned to see a woman in sunglasses strutting over with a cocky attitude.

Ryder noticed she was rocking a low-cut crop top, showing off her navel.

She was rocking a super short skirt, and her long legs were covered in colorful tattoos that were hard to make out.

The sales assistant stepped up with a smile, "Sorry, ma'am. This sailor uniform's already been snagged by this gentleman. Wanna check out something else? We've got loads of other cool Japanese-style clothes!"

The woman in sunglasses snapped, "I want this one. Do I make myself clear?"

The sales assistant, looking awkward, said, "Ma'am, it's already sold. If you really dig this sailor uniform, leave your contact info, and we'll hit you up as soon as we get more. How's that sound?"

But the woman in sunglasses wasn't having it and shouted, "I said I want this outfit, so it's mine! Why should I wait? Wrap it up for me now!"

"Well..." The sales assistant was at a loss for words after getting chewed out.

Ryder stepped forward, "This outfit's mine. Shouldn't you talk to me first if you wanna take it?"

The woman took off her sunglasses.

She gave Ryder a once-over, noticing his plain clothes, and let out a contemptuous snort. "Who do you think you are? Why should I bother with you?"

Ryder, staying calm, replied, "It's about principles and rules. I bought this first."

The woman in sunglasses snapped, "You country bumpkin, how dare you reason with me? People like you are disgrace to our city!"

She then glared at the sales assistant and mocked, "You must be a country girl working in the city, right? Think about it, can this bumpkin afford to buy clothes? How many can he buy? Look at my outfit, designer bags—money's no object. Serve me well, and I could buy half a dozen outfits at once, and you'd get a nice commission. Country bumpkins are just short-sighted fools."

The sales assistant's face turned red, and her eyes welled up with tears.

She had come to Houston from the countryside to work. Coming from a poor family, she was already fragile, with low self-esteem, and the last thing she wanted was to be attacked like this!

She felt unspeakable grievance and fear!

Ryder's frown deepened.

This woman's arrogance and rudeness almost rivaled that of Karen!

Ryder's voice turned cold, "You should apologize to the sales assistant!"

"What?" She was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter as if she had heard the funniest joke. "Haha! You're killing me! Do you know what you're saying? You want me to apologize to her? A country girl working in the city? And you, have you heard of me, Deborah Megan? Do you know who my boyfriend is? Do you know the consequences of what you just said?"

"Deborah Megan?"

Upon hearing this, the sales assistant's face turned pale, as if she had thought of someone terrifying!

Ryder blinked.

He looked at Deborah's face, thought for a few seconds, and then his eyes lit up as he suddenly realized. "Oh, Stinky Megan! It's you! You still owe me 158 bucks, did you forget?"
