Chapter 409 Silly Grins
As Ryder stared at the dead duo in the bedroom, a wave of feels hit her hard.
She didn't really get the whole deal between the shriveled-up lady on the bed and Mark, or what went down between them, but she could tell Mark was real with her in his last moments.
A hero had bit the dust!
Right now, Ryder wasn't feeling the usual high from taking down a bunch of baddies.
Instead, he felt this heavy emptiness!
'Cause Mark was nothing like the enemies she'd faced before!
Maybe, just maybe, they could've been buds if things had been different.
With a sigh, Ryder headed for the door.
Creak!
The door swung open from the outside!
Brian stood tall in the doorway!
He gave Ryder a look, shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and muttered, "In the end, he couldn't escape his destiny.
Then, he turned his gaze to Ryder, eyebrows knitting together.
Seeing this, Ryder asked, "What, you wanna get back at me for Mark?"
Brian shook his head. "Mr. Davis told me, no matter what happens, I shouldn't get involved again! You can go now. The basement where your wife is being held is downstairs, turn left at the basement level and go straight to the last room!"
"Thanks!" Ryder replied, then asked, "So, what's your next move?"
Having dealt with Brian a bunch, he knew he was sharp and tough, definitely someone worth having on her side.
Brian's eyes flickered with a mix of emotions as he said, "Mr. Mark Davis and Mr. Kenneth Davis are both gone, now the Davis family only has Mr. Kenneth Davis' kid left. Mr. Mark Davis was good to me back then, and I gotta take care of the kid! Mr. Mark Davis always said the kid shouldn't go down the wrong path, and I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen."
Ryder asked, puzzled, "What about Olivia?"
Hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Brian's face as he coldly said, "Actually, there's something Mr. Mark Davis and Mr. Kenneth Davis never knew: Olivia, that nasty woman, had a shady thing going on with that scumbag Daniel. Just for that alone, Olivia's not fit to raise the kid! Plus, she and Daniel have taken so much from the Davis family and done such dirty deeds, they won't end well!"
Hearing Brian's words, Ryder's eye twitched a bit.
He remembered how Ryan'd gotten Olivia to talk last time, when he had her cornered at her place. He'd gotten some juicy information out of her then. Turned out, this bitch Olivia had been messing around with Daniel multiple times, and she was the one who started it.
She even secretly took money from the Davis family to blow on Daniel!
In short, she was a real piece of work!
When Ryder found out, he had planned to use it as a trump card against Mark, but in the end, he didn't!
Surprisingly, Brian already knew everything!
As for what kind of payback Daniel and Olivia would get, that wasn't Ryder's problem; they had it coming!
Time was ticking, so Ryder didn't waste a second and bolted towards the basement like Brian had said!
A few minutes later, Ryder made it to the innermost room on the first floor!
He yanked the door open, revealing a vertical staircase leading down to the basement!
The water down there had risen to chest level!
Sarah was clinging to the metal bars, trying to keep herself afloat, hoping it wasn't all for nothing.
The old her would've probably lost it by now, maybe even thought about ending it all.
But now, the only thing keeping her going was thinking of Ryder!
Or more like, if anyone could save her, it was Ryder!
Bang!
The door flew open, and Sarah turned her head, struggling to see Ryder!
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably!
From the moment she was captured until now, despite all the fear, anger, and frustration, she hadn't shed a tear, needing to stay strong; otherwise, she'd completely fall apart.
But now, she couldn't hold back anymore.
Sarah said, "You finally came. I knew you wouldn't leave me!"
Ryder didn't hesitate and jumped straight into the water.
He swam to the metal cage, pulled out the key, and unlocked the padlock!He swung the metal cage door open!
Seeing Sarah's face pale from the cold water, her lips colorless, Ryder felt a deep sense of guilt.
He said tenderly, "Sarah, I'm sorry. I'm late. It's all my fault for not being thorough and letting you fall into this..."
Before Ryder could finish, he felt a soft touch on his lips!
Sarah kissed him!
Ryder's mind went blank for a moment!
Sarah kissed him so hard...
Even though she was a bit clumsy, Ryder could tell she was at her breaking point and needed to let it out!
Ryder, still a bit green in this area, could only respond awkwardly!
After all, missing this chance would make him feel like less of a man.
Just as Ryder's hands were moving up Sarah's waist, she pushed him away and sneezed. "Achoo!"
With her cheeks flushed, she looked at Ryder awkwardly.
Ryder snapped back to reality and realized the water in the basement was freezing and had risen to Sarah's neck!
If they stayed any longer, they might drown!
So Ryder grabbed Sarah and quickly swam to the edge of the basement stairs, and they climbed out.
Soaking wet, they stared at each other in silence for over ten seconds!
Suddenly, they both burst into silly, happy grins!
Even though Sarah didn't know how Ryder had found her, she could guess he must've gone through a lot of danger. She knew it in her heart, without needing to ask.
Looking at Sarah, beautiful and captivating, Ryder's aroused desire hadn't faded!
It surged again!Taking a gulp, he suggested, "Babe, how about we go for round two?"
