Chapter 43 Are you mentally prepared?

The Source Hotel

"Sam... if you come any closer, I'll kill myself in front of you!"

Sarah stood in the corner of the private room. In her hand, she held a broken piece of glass, pressed against her own neck. Her tear-streaked face was filled with stubbornness and grievances. Just now, Sam tried to force Sarah, but of course, she didn't yield.

In the blink of an eye, she shattered a glass on the nearest coffee table and picked up a shard to threaten Sam. Sam and a circle of bodyguards stood a few meters away from Sarah. Neither side dared to make a move. They had been deadlocked for almost half an hour.

Sam couldn't help but advise with a helpless expression, "Sarah, why do you have to do this? Don't you understand my intentions? I had no choice but to do this. It’s because I genuinely like you! This embarrassing situation benefits no one. Listen to me and throw away the glass!"

Sarah clenched her teeth and staunchly replied, "I won't throw it away! Take one step closer, and I'll die in front of you!" Sam furrowed his brow and began to grow impatient. "Sarah! It's the modern age, and romantic relationships are normal! Why risk your life for some so-called purity? Do you really want to save your first time for that waste of space, Ryder?" Upon hearing these words, a trace of confusion appeared in Sarah's eyes.

She neither confirmed nor denied it. However, this response genuinely displeased Sam, prompting him to take a step towards Sarah. "Stay away! What are you going to do?" Sam's face twisted into a sinister smile. "What I want in my life, I must obtain! If I can't have it, I'll destroy it. I won't let someone else to have it either!"

"Aren't you afraid I'll kill myself?" Sarah leaned the broken glass closer to her neck. The tip was already touching her skin. Sam replied, "It doesn't matter anymore! Since I can't have your heart, I'll have your body! Whether you're alive or dead, I'll be the first man to possess you entirely! I won't even miss an inch of your body!" Sam licked his lips, and his eyes glowed with a sinister light.

Sarah's delicate body couldn't stop trembling. "You... you're a pervert! A lunatic!"

"Call me whatever you want! Today, no one can save you!" Sam laughed loudly and lunged forward. Sarah closed her eyes, already having made a resolute decision. She would rather die than be dishonored! Goodbye to this world that betrayed her! Just as she was about to cut her throat with the glass shard in her grip, there was a loud bang at the private room door. Everyone turned their heads at once.

They saw a man standing at the entrance, panting heavily, wearing a gloomy and anxious expression. It was Ryder! Bloodshot eyes pierced through, like a wild beast going mad! Upon seeing Ryder, Sarah froze in disbelief, her expression incredulous.

She was in the prime of her youth. She would have never chosen death. She had hoped someone would come to save her.

She had fantasized about her parents, her friends, and even kind-hearted people calling the police to rescue her. But she had never imagined that the person would be Ryder, someone whom everyone labeled as a waste. Even she considered him a burdensome husband!

In Sarah's despairing eyes, a glimmer of hope flickered, followed by what seemed like a decisive moment as she shouted loudly at Ryder, "Go! Leave quickly!"

She knew well that Sam despised Ryder to the core. Right now, Ryder showing up played right into his hands, and it could result into unimaginable consequences.

Ryder shook his head, his expression serious. "I won't leave! We'll walk away together!"

At that moment, Sam spoke up, "Ryder! I never expected you would dare come here! And you want to take someone with you?"

Ryder's gaze fell on Sam, coldness radiating from his dark eyes. "Are you mentally prepared?"

Sam paused, looking perplexed. "Prepared for what?"

"Prepared for the downfall of your family." Ryder replied calmly.

Sam's face contorted in disbelief as he stared at Ryder. "You imbecile! Have you gone crazy? Don't you see your current situation? Yet you dare act so arrogantly here! Our family falling apart? Do you even know that we can crush you with the money stacked up in our house? Of course, that would be too glorious of a death for someone like you. I have more interesting ways to 'play' with you!"

Ignoring Sam's outburst, Ryder walked towards Sarah.

Sam didn't try to stop him, as in his eyes, Ryder was trapped in the palm of his hand, ready to be crushed at any moment!

Ryder reached Sarah's side.

He took the broken glass from her hand and tossed it aside.

In a gentle tone, he said, "I won't allow anyone to harm you, including yourself."

Sarah bit her jade-like lips, tears streaming uncontrollably. She raised her delicate fists and fiercely pummeled Ryder's chest, shouting, "Go! Wasn't that what I told you to do? Why don't you listen to me? Fool!"

Ryder remained motionless. The pain from her punches on his body was nowhere near as intense as the pain in his heart. The pain of guilt.

"I'm sorry! I failed to take good care of you," Ryder spoke sincerely from the depths of his being.

Sarah's tears kept flowing.

She didn't understand. She couldn’t comprehend anything. Her closest family members had betrayed and abandoned her, but this man, who had disappointed her the most in the past, stood by her, never leaving her side!

She couldn't determine if she should be despairing or feeling fortunate.

In any case, her mind was in chaos, and she suddenly blurted out to Ryder, "I'm sorry!"

Ryder was taken aback, surprise written all over his face. Why was she apologizing?

"I'm sorry, Ryder. We have been married for three years, but I have always been stubborn. I never tried to understand you. If it weren't for my constant need to prove myself, maybe this day wouldn't have come... I've burdened you today, and if it were possible, I really wish for our future..."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but give a bitter smile. "But it's a pity... There is no future anymore..."

At that moment, Ryder's heart was convulsing and trembling.

After three years of marriage, this was the first time Sarah had poured her heart out to him!

Sarah’s words filled Ryder's entire heart with warmth.

Ryder raised his hand and gently stroked Sarah's head. "Our future will be wonderful, I promise."

Sarah answered softly and suddenly swayed, falling into Ryder's arms.

"Sarah! Are you okay?"

Ryder was startled and quickly reached out to check Sarah's breathing.

Sarah was unconscious, but her breathing was stable.

This slightly calmed Ryder down. Sarah had a minor hypoglycemia condition and easily fainted if she didn't eat. Today she hadn't had any food since noon. Generally, a glucose drip would do the trick.

They had experienced this a few times during their marriage.

Ryder pulled Sarah closer to him and gently said, "Rest well. I'll clean up this mess. I have a lot to tell you!"

"Ryder! Stop pretending!" Seeing this scene, Sam's eyes sparked with a twisted light, and he viciously said, "Ryder, I suddenly have an idea! I'm going to have my way with Sarah in front of everyone. Once I'm done, my bodyguards will take turns with her. The more you care, the more I'll trample her into the ground!"

All the bodyguards grinned lasciviously.

Ryder turned around, facing everyone with an indifferent smile, and exhaled, shouting towards the door, "Clean up the mess!"

As soon as he finished speaking, hurried footsteps could be heard outside the door, approaching quickly.

The door burst open, and a group of people rushed in.

The leader was George!

An air of cold-bloodedness surged within him.
