Chapter 541 Feel Like Picking Me Up?
Ryder felt very helpless.
Then, he explained the situation to Donna.
"Ugh! Ryder, you should have told me earlier. You really scared me! But nowadays, flat-chested women are everywhere. Just filming my upper body won't do any good!"
Ryder paused, realizing Donna had a point.
He tilted his head. "How about..."
Donna instantly shielded his crotch. "Nope! Not a chance!"
"Screw you! Like I'd ever let my wife see that!" Ryder scoffed. "What I meant was, why don't you go live and set the record straight? Emily's probably following your Sunshine APP account, and Sarah's bound to catch the stream too!"
Back in college, Ryder often called him a transgender person.
He knew Donna didn't mind these things.
Donna hesitated, frowning. "Ryder, you can't put love before friendship like this. Streaming is my gig! Without it, how am I supposed to take care of Debra and myself?"
Ryder raised a brow. "Relax, I've got you and Debra covered. And for now, stay at the Breeze Club—let Clara take care of you. Plus, Lisa's shutting down your account. Think you'll still be raking in cash?"
Donna was speechless.
"Alright, fine. What choice do I have?"
She went live!
Donna faced the camera and set the record straight, finally saying, "I'm transgender."
Then she apologized to her 500,000-plus followers.
After Ryder's one million US dollars reward last night, Donna's follower count skyrocketed!
It jumped from 100,000 to 500,000!
The result was predictable; the comment section was filled with curses:
"Fuck, so the beautiful woman I saw before was fake?"
"Turns out to be a transgender person! I'm going to throw up!"
"Bastard, go to hell."
Fans who couldn't accept it unfollowed her in droves!
Looking straight into the camera, Donna stayed composed. "I'm coming clean because of an old college roommate. I'm really sorry my personal drama caused trouble between he and his wife. My bad—again. That's it for this stream. Thanks for tuning in!"
As soon as the live stream ended, Sarah's video call came through.
Ryder gave Donna a thumbs up!
It was clear that Sarah had watched the live stream.
Ryder said goodbye to Donna and went to his private room.
He answered the call!
On the video, Sarah spoke first, "Ryder, did you make her say that?"
Then she sighed, "Alright, my bad. I was being crazy! I don't know what's gotten into me—maybe it's just all the stress lately!"
Hearing that, Ryder was delighted. "I knew you'd remember. You saw that pic of Donna and me before, and I already explained it! Glad you're not pissed anymore. Next time we hit a snag, at least let me explain, okay?"
Sarah nodded, pursing her lips. "Okay, I understand!"
"So, have you thought about how to make it up to me?"
Sarah lowered her head even more: "When I get to New York, you can have any compensation you want."
Ryder's eyes lit up. "Really?"
Sarah then hung up the phone.
She sent Ryder a text: [Don't think I don't know what you're up to!] with a fuming emoji at the end.
Ryder stared at his phone, grinning wider by the second.
Maybe he should get the stockings and lingerie ready ahead of time?
When Sarah hits here, as payback, he's definitely having her rock those on her killer legs!
So, Ryder went to work at Maple Group that day in a great mood!
Near the end of the day, Scott came to the chairman's office.
He saw Ryder grinning at the blue sky and white clouds outside the floor-to-ceiling window!
"Ryder, something's got you in a good mood, huh?"
Spotting Scott, Ryder stood up fast. "It's personal! Come on, Scott, take a seat!"
They settled onto the leather couch.
Scott sighed. "You know, if your dad were still around, seeing you with a happy family—he'd be very happy!"
Was he really that obvious?
Then Scott dropped another thing. "Ryder, the way you've been handling Maple Group lately—I think your dad would be proud. Before he passed, he left you two tasks."
Scott pulled out a diamond-encrusted black card from his pocket and handed it to Ryder. "First off, this is a top-tier black card with 10 billion dollars in it. Head to the New York Commercial Investment Bank, find the president, Trevor Dixon. In theory, he'll handle your finances. Second, your dad's favorite car is yours now. Think of it as a memento."
He handed Ryder a car key. "You can grab it at the City Auto Center showroom whenever you're free. That's it from me—I'll let you get back to work."
"Take care, Scott!" Ryder stood up to see Scott out.
Reflecting on the supreme black card and car key in his hand, he felt his father John was too mysterious.
But he believed that one day, all questions would be answered as he grew stronger!
Ryder put away the valuable items and prepared to leave work.
Right then, his phone buzzed with an unknown number.
"Hello, who's this?"
"Mr. Clark, you're quick to forget. Already wiped me from your memory? And you didn't even save my number—I'm hurt!"
"Lily?" Ryder clicked. "Sorry, we've been chatting on WhatsApp, so I didn't have it."
Lily chuckled on the other end. "That's better. I'll let it slide this time."
Ryder asked casually, "What's up? You calling for a reason?"
"Can't I just check in with an old classmate?"
"Fair enough."
"Cut the small talk. I'm almost at the NYC train station. Feel like picking me up?"
Ryder paused. "The NYC train station? You're serious?"
"Want me to drop you a pin? Or maybe a selfie with the train? I look pretty good even without makeup!"
Ryder was used to Lily's antics. "Alright, I'll have Rex swing by to get you."
"Who's Rex? I don't know him! That's gonna be so awkward!"
Ryder chuckled. "No, Rex is driving, and I'll come along to pick you up!"
"Nope, I want you alone!" Lily insisted. "I've got a big surprise for you. Don't want it? Fine!"
Ryder caved. "Alright, I'm coming. Alone!"
