It showed an office with someone working at a desk—Sarah.
After about ten seconds, a group barged in, pushing Emily aside and making themselves comfortable on the office sofa. The leader was Sam.
Sarah watched, confused. She had never installed surveillance in her office. How did this video exist? The CEO's office was supposed to be private, and she had never seen any cameras.
What Sarah didn't know was that after Karen and Ernest had caused trouble in her office with Andy's USB drive, Ryder had secretly installed a hidden camera to ensure her safety and, admittedly, to watch his beautiful wife occasionally. It was a win-win.
Unexpectedly, this precaution turned out to be crucial.
In three minutes, the video ended.
The crowd and reporters were stunned. The video was clear, and the dialogue was unmistakable. It showed Sam and his crew threatening Sarah with Ryder's safety, trying to force her to sign and tarnish Maple Real Estate's reputation.
The press conference erupted.
"Sarah wasn't lying! She really was coerced! I thought dirty business tactics were just in TV shows, but they're real!"
"I remember Sam. He was wanted for arson. How could he show up here?"
"Looks like Sam had dealings with the Johnson family and the Phoenix Group. Did they know and protect a criminal?"
"One thing's for sure: Sandra's recording is probably fake! Ryder's video seems way more legit!"
Just minutes ago, the audience was with Sandra, but now they were starting to believe Ryder. Some still sided with Sandra, but their confidence was shaken.
Sandra's intuition kicked in, sensing something was off.
Forcing herself to stay calm despite her shock, she said, "Ryder! Who's to say this video isn't staged with actors? I don't know these people! Don't use this to slander us!"
Ryder smirked. "So, you're saying you don't know Sam? And you never planned to coerce Sarah into signing?"
Sandra nodded firmly.
Ryder's smile widened. "Alright then! Since you're so sure, I have no choice but to show everyone a second video. But let me remind you all, you can watch this video, but no recording or commercial use is allowed!"
The audience was puzzled.
They thought, "We've seen all kinds of shocking events in business and news. A video isn't worth the trouble of recording. We don’t even bother to film it, okay?"
Amidst the crowd's confusion, Ryder played the second video.
The screen started black, with only sounds audible.
"Sandra! You're amazing! I love this feeling!"
