Chapter 450 The Grand Gift from Ryder
In the pouring rain, Andy squinted to make out the figure approaching. It was Ryder, a face he could recognize even after ages.
"Ryder," Andy's voice shook, his body trembling and his right eyelid twitching like crazy. A bad feeling washed over him.
Behind Ryder, he spotted George, Ryan, Rex, Josh, and their crew.
Ryder led his squad, all dressed in black, right up to the gate. "Sarah, I'm sorry! I'm late!" Ryder's voice wavered as he called out to Sarah.
Sarah froze at the sound of his voice. Slowly, she lifted her head, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Is it really you?" she asked weakly.
"It's me! I'm sorry you had to go through this," Ryder said, nodding firmly and reaching out to help her up. Sarah, still dazed, stood with his help, but her legs, swollen and stiff from kneeling in the rain since six in the morning, gave out. She almost fell, but Ryder caught her just in time.
Ryder glanced at her mud-covered pants, noticing the faint traces of blood. His heart ached. Clenching his fists, he took a deep breath, a fierce look in his eyes. Damn it!
Sarah's pale, cold hand touched Ryder's cheek. "Ryder, is that really you? Are you okay now?" she murmured, still unsure.
"I'm fine now! Don't worry," Ryder reassured her, touching her forehead. It was burning hot. She had a fever.
Ryder quickly turned to one of his men. "Get her to the hospital, now!"
"Yes, sir!" they nodded and rushed over.
But Sarah shook her head stubbornly. "No! I want to stay with you!" She was afraid that if she left, she might never see him again.
Ryder understood her fear. He leaned in and kissed her deeply on her cold lips. Suddenly, the rain stopped, and the dark clouds began to part. A ray of sunlight broke through, shining down on them.
After the kiss, Ryder held her hands tightly. "I promise, as soon as I handle things, I'll come to you first. Trust me!"
Sarah blinked, still lost in the kiss. "Okay! Be careful," she said worriedly.
Ryder nodded. Sarah got into the car with a few of his men and headed to the hospital. The gentle smile Ryder had shown her vanished, replaced by a cold, hard look.
Andy, still at the door, saw this and his legs shook uncontrollably. He had no idea how Ryder got out of prison, but with all these people, it was clear he wasn't here for a friendly visit.
Knowing Ryder, if he didn't make a big scene today, he wouldn't let it go.
You gotta read the room sometimes!
Andy quickly shifted his gaze and put on a humble face. "Ryder, you're back? This is all a big misunderstanding, nothing to do with me! I..."
Before he could finish, Ryder slapped him hard across the face without a second thought!
Andy stumbled back a few steps but didn't dare say a word. Ryder acted like nothing happened and strode into the Johnson family's courtyard, his crew in black following close behind.
George picked Andy up and dragged him into the yard, tossing him aside like a rag doll.
The guests, who were just about to dig into their food, were stunned as this group barged in. What the heck was going on? Were they here for the birthday party? Their outfits sure didn't say "party."
Everyone in the hall was shocked, glancing over. "Ryder! Is that you?" Sandra was the first to shout in surprise.
As soon as she spoke, the guests finally reacted.
"Holy crap! This guy is Ryder? Didn't they say he got locked up for breaking the law? How's he out?"
"No way! He did some serious stuff. He couldn't have been released. Did he escape?"
"Are you nuts? This isn't a movie. Escaping isn't that easy, let alone showing up here so boldly."
"Oh my god! I have a really bad feeling about this. Something big is gonna go down!"
Facing everyone's stares, Ryder raised his eyelids, a cold light flashing in his eyes. "Yeah, it's me."
Sandra's face was full of shock. "Weren't you in prison? How did you get out? I'm calling the cops to report your escape!"
Ryder responded indifferently, "Go ahead."
Sandra was stunned by his words. She had already guessed that Ryder didn't escape because no one would have the guts to show up so boldly if they did.
The only possibility was that Ryder's drug-related case was resolved, and he was released without charges. She looked at Tyler, puzzled.
Tyler was just as dumbfounded. He had used so many connections and resources for this plan, even personally leading Ryder into the trap. How did it fail at the most critical moment?
Of course, among those present, Heather was the one who remained unusually calm. Her expression hardened as she sternly addressed Ryder, "Today is my birthday. You're not welcome here. Please leave! We can talk another day."
The implication was clear: she didn't want any trouble on her birthday.
Ryder looked at Heather, a cold smile curling his lips. "No way! After all, I'm Sarah's husband. And for your seventieth birthday, I must give you a 'big gift'!"
Hearing this, everyone around was stunned. They thought, 'Despite Ryder's strained relationship with the Johnson family, he still managed to bring Heather a gift. Impossible!'
Ryder clapped his hands, and his crew dispersed. Eight people slowly carried in the "big gift" from outside.
When everyone saw it, their faces froze—it was a black coffin!
