Chapter 294 She's an Unfilial Daughter!
Ryder and Sarah rushed over as fast as they could.
As soon as Sarah got out of the car, she was shocked by the scene.
A crowd had gathered at the entrance of SR Group.
Karen was pushing a wheelchair, complaining to the crowd.
In the wheelchair sat Sarah's father, Ernest, looking very unwell with drool at the corner of his mouth.
Sarah's face changed, and she quickly moved forward. "Dad! What's wrong?"
Before she could reach him, Karen blocked her.
Karen, with a twisted expression, snapped, "Stay back!"
Sarah, worried, asked, "What's wrong with Dad? Why is he in a wheelchair? Dad, say something!"
Ernest stayed motionless.
Karen pushed Sarah away, eyes red with anger. "Stop pretending to care for him; you make me sick!"
Sarah was stunned.
Karen, with a hint of resentment, turned to the crowd, wiping her tears. "I didn't want to air our dirty issues, but I have no choice. Even if I lose my dignity, I have to speak out!
"My daughter, Sarah, the CEO of SR Group, is praised as the most beautiful woman in Houston and an outstanding entrepreneur. But you don't know she's a heartless ingrate who kicked me out, beats her brother, and doesn't care about her father's life!"
The crowd started gossiping, "Is Mrs. Johnson really like that?"
"I don't think so; she looks so nice."
"You never know; looks can be deceiving."
"Let's hear more before judging."
Karen's words made Sarah uncomfortable, and she frowned. "Mom! What are you talking about? I've never done those things!"
Karen sneered, "You still call me Mom? But I don't have a heartless daughter like you!"
She continued talking to the crowd, "In front of everyone, you still deny it? You kicked us out. We can't support ourselves, and my husband is paralyzed! Have you ever cared?"
Sarah's eyes widened. "Paralyzed?"
'No wonder Dad didn't respond earlier,' she thought.
Sarah was anxious and wanted to check on her dad.
Suddenly, Kyle emerged from the crowd, blocking her way, his head wrapped in bandages.
"Get away from my dad! You don't deserve to!" Kyle warned, then knelt in front of Ernest.
He hugged the wheelchair, choking up, "Dad, it's my fault. I should've fought for the family inheritance. Who knew Sarah would be so cruel."
Karen sat on the ground, slapping her thighs and crying, "Oh, God! Do us justice! What have we done wrong?"
She wailed, accusing Sarah of all sorts of wrongdoings over the years.
Of course, the whole story was a lie!
Soon, more people gathered.
Most onlookers felt sympathetic and started to rally for justice. "If you have any issues, speak up; we'll help you get justice!"
"Exactly! No matter how rich or powerful your daughter is, we're not afraid! If you need money for a lawsuit, we'll help raise it!"
"My uncle's a journalist; if anything happens, contact him! Expose it online!"
With the crowd's support, Karen turned to Sarah and shouted, "See this? This is what the public thinks. Let's see how long you can keep up the act!"
Sarah's face was tense. She hadn't expected Karen to use such tactics and deceive the crowd into helping.
The key issue was that family conflicts like this were impossible for Sarah to explain clearly.
Some SR Group employees wanted to help Sarah clarify things, but facing such a large crowd, any attempt to speak up would look like a cover-up.
Biting her lip, Sarah asked Karen, "What do you want?"
Karen, with her neck stiffened, said, "It's simple. The assets you hold belong to Ernest. He should be in charge of SR Group! But you've broken his heart, so he's decided to transfer everything to Kyle, not you!"
Karen pulled out a property inheritance agreement with Ernest's signature and thumbprint.
The crowd chimed in, "Good! I support your fight for your rights. According to the rules, SR Group should go to Kyle!"
"That's right, letting a woman inherit the company is against tradition!"
"With this agreement, there's nothing to fear. Just go to court if needed!"
Ryder, watching from a distance, smiled helplessly.
He thought, 'Ernest only managed the Johnson family branch and didn't have actual control. I bet with the Johnson family and took back control for Sarah. Then, the branch merged with the Smith Group to form SR Group, which I gifted to Sarah. Emotionally and legally, SR Group belongs solely to Sarah!'
Sarah knew this well.
She responded seriously, "Sorry, the equity of SR Group belongs only to me and has nothing to do with you! Also, I don't care what a fuss you're trying to make; the most important thing is to see how my dad is doing. I need to take him to the hospital! Get away!"
Sarah's calm and assertive demeanor surprised Karen and Kyle.
If Sarah didn't respond, their plan couldn't proceed. But they had a backup plan.
At that moment, a man emerged from the crowd, angrily pointing at Sarah. "Sarah! How dare you keep faking it? Don't think you can fool us; Ernest's paralysis was orchestrated by you!"
The surrounding crowd was puzzled.
