Chapter 339 Do You Think You Haven't Caused Big Trouble?
Blood soaked the sheets, looking utterly terrifying!
Seeing this, Dominic suddenly cried out and threw himself onto the hospital bed.
He screamed, "Karen, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"
Karen seemed even weaker now. "Dominic, I'm fine. I deserve all of this! Don't worry about me!"
Dominic wiped his tears and shouted to Ruth beside him, "What are you standing there for? Get the doctor!"
"Okay! I'm on it!" Ruth said and nodded, then quickly ran out of the room!
At this moment, Sarah was also pale with fright.
She hurriedly asked Kyle, "Is Mom really this bad? When did you start noticing something was wrong?"
Kyle sighed and replied, "Actually, Mom's health hasn't been good for a while. A couple of days ago, she said her chest hurt. I took her to the hospital. But on the way, she suddenly started coughing up blood. After the doctors checked her, it was..."
Kyle couldn't continue and choked up.
This made Sarah feel even worse.
Before long, Ruth returned with a middle-aged male doctor.
Ruth said, "Everyone, move aside and let the doctor take a look!"
The crowd made way for the doctor.
The middle-aged male doctor quickly walked to Karen's bedside, performed some checks, and asked Karen a few questions.
Then, he sighed deeply.
Sarah asked worriedly, "Doctor, how is my mom doing?"
The middle-aged male doctor looked slightly serious. "Who here is the patient's immediate family? Come with me."
The middle-aged male doctor left the room, and Kyle and Sarah followed him out.
Ryder also followed them out.
In the hallway outside, the middle-aged male doctor spoke seriously, "To be honest, the patient isn't in a good condition. Yesterday's tests showed that the cancer cells have spread to most of her liver. It is spreading rapidly, and her life is in imminent danger."
Hearing this, Sarah's body trembled slightly, and she almost fainted.
She couldn't believe it and asked, "Doctor, my mom has always been healthy, and there's no history of cancer in our family. How could this happen to her?"
The middle-aged male doctor replied, "It can't be helped. As people age, their resistance decreases. Moreover, cancer isn't strongly related to genetics. From my diagnosis and the information gathered from the patient, your mom's illness is likely due to excessive mental stress and prolonged emotional suppression. So, as a doctor, I advise you to care more about the elderly. If something happens, you'll regret it."
Kyle nodded repeatedly.
Sarah also nodded twice and then asked, "Doctor, is there any way to cure my mom? No matter the cost or effort, we'll do it!"
The doctor stroked his chin and thought for a few seconds before answering, "There is still a chance. I happen to know a top expert. If we can get him to take the case personally, there's over a 90% success rate! But the cost is quite high."
"How much?" Sarah asked eagerly.
The doctor replied, "The deposit alone is seventy thousand dollars! With seventy thousand dollars, I can get him to come."
Before Sarah could speak, Ryder's voice rang out, "What kind of expert charges such a high fee, and why is the deposit so high? Can you tell us more about him?"
The doctor was clearly taken aback by Ryder's sudden question and was momentarily stunned.
Seeing this, Kyle immediately scolded Ryder, "Ryder, what are you trying to do today? First, you doubted my mom's cancer diagnosis, and now you don't even believe the doctor! Yes, I know we've wronged you in the past, and I see you still hold a grudge against us. Now that we're in trouble, you're just kicking us while we're down! If you don't want to help, I won't force you. Please leave. I'll figure it out myself. Even if I have to sell my kidney or blood, I'll get the money to treat Mom!"
Hearing this, Sarah's face changed slightly. She turned to Ryder and said sternly, "Ryder! Stop talking!"
"But..." Ryder wanted to say something more.
Sarah interrupted him, "No buts. This is our family matter! If you don't want to get involved, I won't blame you!"
Then, Sarah turned to the doctor and said, "Doctor, I can pay the deposit. When should I give it to you?"
The doctor replied, "The sooner, the better. How about now? Let's go to my office."
"Okay!"
Sarah nodded repeatedly.
Then she followed the doctor and Kyle to the office.
As for Ryder, he watched them leave and then looked at the hospital room door.
He thought for a moment and took out his phone.
He called Richard, the director of Houston Urban First Medical Center and asked, "Hello! Director Gaiman, sorry to bother you. I have a question I'd like to consult with you."
By the Elmrest River, at the Elmrest River Estate.
There were only two people in Mark's study.
Mark was standing at his desk practicing his calligraphy.
Kenneth stood opposite him.
Usually arrogant and overbearing, Kenneth was now somewhat nervous.
He didn't even dare to breathe loudly!
No matter how arrogant Kenneth was, he knew that all his power came from Mark!
Without Mark, Kenneth would have been killed by his enemies many times over!
Moreover, he had lost everything in an underground fight yesterday.
It was a huge disaster.
But what puzzled Kenneth was that, usually, Mark would have scolded him by now for causing trouble.
Today, he had been standing there for over half an hour, but Mark was still practicing his calligraphy, making Kenneth even more anxious!
Unable to bear it any longer, Kenneth called out to him softly, "Dad?"
Mark didn't respond!
Kenneth took a deep breath, then continued, "Dad! I know what I did wrong. However you wish to punish me, I'll accept it without complaint!"
Mark didn't stop writing and said calmly, "What did you do wrong?"
Kenneth replied with his head down, "Of course, I was wrong to gamble without telling you and I lost twenty million dollars, plus the vacation estate!"
Mark shook his head. "That's not where you went wrong."
Kenneth looked confused, thinking he had misheard.
Mark explained, "Our family runs a casino. Winning and losing at the table is normal. If you lose, it's just because you're not skilled enough. You can't deny your own judgment! So, I say you didn't do anything wrong there."
Kenneth breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Then why did you call me back in such a hurry? I thought I had really messed up big time!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Mark suddenly slammed his palm on the table in anger.
He stared sharply at Kenneth and scolded, "You fool! Do you think you haven't messed up big time?"
