Chapter 388 Dislike Interference from Minor Characters!
Ethan's eyes popped wide open. "You gotta be kidding me! You son of a bitch!"
Fuming, Ethan pounded the table and yelled, "Ryder, if you got any guts, just own up to cheating and quit with the lame excuses!"
Ryder stayed cool as a cucumber and shot back, "Fine! Get the staff to pull up the surveillance footage. Let's see who really cheated. You got the nerve?"
"I..." Ethan's voice wavered, and he frowned, totally stumped.
The reason was simple.
If they checked the footage, his own card-switching would be all over the screen, making him look like a total fool!
But he couldn't figure out when Ryder had swapped his Ace of Spades!
He'd been watching Ryder like a hawk and hadn't seen anything fishy!
Suddenly, Ethan had a lightbulb moment!
He zeroed in on Ryan!
It had to be this guy!
During the game, there was a scuffle, and this dude had jumped in to play peacemaker.
In that moment, Ryan had made the biggest move and was the most suspicious, but pulling off a card switch in front of everyone? That was some next-level stuff.
Honestly, even he couldn't pull that off!
Looking at Ryan, who was chilling in a chair, puffing on a cigar and grinning, Ethan felt that his usual sleazy look suddenly seemed kinda mysterious!
Who the heck was this guy?
Meanwhile, Mark just sat there, frozen, his ears ringing!
His bloodshot eyes were filled with disbelief!
He had lost so badly on his own turf, something he never saw coming!
Suddenly, Mark started coughing like crazy, tears and snot everywhere, the tightness in his chest almost choking him!
It was like an old lion making its last stand!
Seeing this, the crowd was freaked out!
It was the first time they'd seen Mark in such a state, and they couldn't believe the once-mighty Mark Davis in Houston was about to bite the dust!
Ryder didn't seem to care about Mark's meltdown.
He stood up, placed his hands on the table, and said calmly, "Mark, I won this game. Time to pay up all your bets on the table, right?"
He then glanced at Ethan. "Don't forget! Make sure to cash in! It's getting late, and I gotta get home to my wife!"
Ethan's eye twitched, and his heart sank!
He'd come tonight to help Mark, thinking it would be a breeze, fun, and a quick buck, only to end up in this mess!
Some folks in the casino couldn't stand to see this!
They started speaking up.
"Mr. Davis! Forget about this game. On your turf, you call the shots. Ryder's already fallen into the trap!"
"Yeah, who the hell does Ryder think he is? Winning one game doesn't make him king of the hill! We can put him in his place right now!"
"Mr. Davis, don't worry! No matter what you decide to do with Ryder, we won't spill a word about tonight. Even if someone tries to pin it on you, we've got your back!"
The most worked-up guy in the room was Tim!
He was so sure Ryder would lose that he was ready to pop the champagne, but Ryder winning? That was a curveball he didn't see coming!
If Ryder walked out of here, Tim would be on the hook for $60 million!
Sure, he could skip town, but living life on the run? That was a last resort for anyone!
So, he didn't want Ryder leaving here alive!
With that thought, Tim steeled himself, pushed through the crowd, and dropped to his knees in front of Mark. "Mr. Davis! Ryder's a snake! You can't let him walk away!"
Seeing this, Ryder smirked. "You're a lowlife, and you got the nerve to badmouth me!"
Tim turned and sneered at Ryder. "I'm just calling it like it is. Getting rid of scum like you is doing the world a favor. Plus, you killed Kenneth. Murderers gotta pay, and debts gotta be settled. What's wrong with asking Mr. Davis to take you out?"
"Nothing wrong at all!" Ryder shook his head and sighed. "But since when did my business with Mark become your problem?"
"I..." Tim started to speak but then glanced nervously at Mark out of the corner of his eye.
Mark's face was dark as a thundercloud, his cold gaze locked on Tim!
Just that one look made Tim shiver!
He realized he'd been too eager to take down Ryder!
Mark, the puppet master, never liked small fry meddling, no matter the situation!
Realizing this, Tim started to sweat.
He pleaded with a pitiful look to Mark, "Mr. Davis! I spoke out of turn. Please ignore everything I said before. It was just nonsense!"
As he spoke, he raised his hands and slapped his own face hard!
The sound echoed!
But Mark didn't even glance at Tim, his voice icy as he said, "Take him out!"
"Yes!" Several burly guys behind Mark stepped forward, grabbed Tim, and dragged him out, which scared the crap out of Tim.
Having been around for so long, he knew what that meant!
"Mr. Davis, please forgive me. I won't do it again. I'll follow your orders..."
Tim screamed, but Mark ignored him, letting his men drag Tim away!
The room fell into an eerie silence!
No one dared to speak up or make decisions for Mark anymore!
Mark's eyes were cold as he stared at Ryder, his voice raspy as he asked, "What exactly do you want me to do with you?"
