Chapter 88 Spying On Her?

"You... You're the general manager of The Pint House?" Sarah wiped her tears, looking surprised.

She had seen her before at business associations in Houston. This woman was one of the female businesspersons that Sarah admired in Houston!

Casey smiled and nodded. "That's right."

Sarah asked in confusion, "Why are you here?"

"I came to tell Miss Johnson that you might have misunderstood Mr. Clark!"

"Misunderstood him?"

Casey didn't beat around the bush. She took out her phone and played a video for Sarah to see. "This is the surveillance video from the private room where you had lunch with Arturo. I retrieved it. Take a look!"

The video showed Sarah getting drunk and collapsing on the table, Arturo taking a pill, undressing, and preparing to record a video, and then Ryder showing up in time to stop Arturo and finally taking Sarah out of the private room.

Sarah sat on the bed, stunned for a long time. Her lips trembled uncontrollably as she murmured, "... I misunderstood."

"Ryder... If it weren't for Ryder, my innocence and possibly my whole life would have been ruined!"

She recalled getting angry at Ryder, even losing control! "But... why didn't he explain? Why did he silently endure my accusations and venting? Is he stupid!? No, he's not stupid! He just doesn't want to argue with me!" With that thought, Sarah felt like her heart was brutally pierced by a sharp thorn! It hurt immensely!

If she were to put herself in his shoes, she could never handle the situation as calmly and generously as Ryder did!

"I am a bad woman!" Sarah sobbed, tears streaming down her face.

Seeing her like this, Casey sighed softly and tried to console her. "Miss Johnson, although I haven't been married yet, I understand that arguments between spouses are normal, as they are still in love, aren't they?"

"In love?" Sarah murmured. Being married for three years, how could Sarah not know that Ryder loved her?

If it weren't for his love for her, combined with the pressure from her family, Ryder would have left the Johnson family long ago, even if he were destitute!

It was only because of her past that she refused to acknowledge it!

He does love her. But does she deserve his love now?

Sarah was caught in a dilemma.

Should she call Ryder?

Sarah no longer hesitated and took out her phone to call Ryder.

"The number you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later!"

"He must be angry with me!" Sarah suddenly felt nervous and scared. Scared that Ryder would just leave without any contact!

Such thoughts would never have occurred to her before…

"No, I must find him and explain everything clearly!" Sarah wiped away her tears, tidied her clothes, and said to Casey, "I'm sorry to trouble you. I have something to attend to, so I'll leave now. I'll make sure to visit and thank you another day when I have the time!"

Casey smiled and said, "Don't be so formal! Add me on WhatsApp, and we can go shopping and have meals together when we have time!"

Sarah took Casey's business card, feeling surprised.

After all, Casey's status in Houston was much higher than hers. It was rare for someone of that position to willingly hand out a business card.

Casey was an influential figure in Houston. Now, she was saying that they could eat and shop together? It felt like they were becoming best friends!

But at this moment, Sarah was in a hurry to find Ryder and didn't have time to ponder so much. She opened WhatsApp, scanned and added Casey, exchanged greetings, and quickly left.

Watching Sarah's departing figure, Casey sighed and murmured, "What a foolish woman! She doesn't not know about the joy she's got! Even I feel a bit envious!"

Ryder left The Pint House and rode aimlessly on his electric scooter.

To tell the truth, he was a bit angry about Sarah wrongly accusing him.

But mostly, he felt sorry for her.

After all, Sarah had been under a lot of pressure lately.

Ryder didn't explain himself because he understood Sarah's nature.

In that state of mind, no matter how much he explained, it'd seem like he was making excuses. He decided to leave and let her calm down.

Explaining everything later would be much more effective!

In the end, it's all because he couldn't expose his true identity to Sarah.

Scott warned him before that he absolutely couldn't reveal his real identity until his wings were fully grown.

Otherwise, the safety of the people around him would face great challenges!

That's why Ryder didn't dare take any risks. He couldn't let Sarah be in any danger!

"Hey! Ryder!" All of a sudden, a woman's voice rang out.

He stopped the scooter and turned his head, finding his classmate Lily standing on the roadside, waving at him.

"What are you doing here?"

Lily smiled and said, "Just finished teaching. I had nothing to do, so I thought about boozing and enjoying myself. I even called you just now, but your phone is turned off!"

Ryder took out his phone and tapped it, awkwardly saying, "Sorry, it ran out of battery!"

Lily pouted, "Since you happen to be here, let's have a drink! Last time, you didn't fully enjoy yourself when you came to my place and left!"

Ryder scratched his head, thinking he had nothing else going on, so having a drink wouldn't be too bad. "Sure, hop on! I'll take you to the bar."

"Yay!"

Lily got on Ryder's scooter, patted his shoulder excitingly, and said, "Let's go!"

Ryder started the electric scooter and headed straight to Polka Bar.

"Hurry up! Faster!" Lily urged.

"Can you be a bit more steady? As a girl, if you always act wild like this, no one'll marry you!"

"Hmph! If you are the one, I might consider it!"

Ryder rolled his eyes without responding.

Suddenly, Lily touched Ryder's right cheek. "Hey! Why's your face swollen?"

Ryder was taken aback by the question. He explained awkwardly, "I accidentally bumped into the doorframe."

Lily smirked, "I reckon you were caught peeping at a woman taking a bath and got slapped, huh? Hahaha!"

Ten minutes later, Ryder and Lily arrived at Polka Bar.

They parked their scooter and went straight in.

However, they didn't notice that not far away on the street, a red Mazda sedan had just parked.

Sarah was sitting in the car, feeling wronged.

With a grim face, she said, "Hmph! I knew it, Ryder. You were no good! Apologize to you? I hope you never come back!"

Sarah pressed the car horn in frustration. She stepped on the accelerator, and the car disappeared into the night.
