Chapter 460 Barbara's Dilemma
The next day, Sarah, sitting behind her office desk, opened her computer, ready to start her work.
Ryder handed Sarah a glass of water, hesitating for a moment before saying, "Why don't you take a few more days off in the hospital? The doc said you're still pretty weak!"
Sarah shook her head. "I know my body. Don't worry! Now, hurry up and get to Maple Real Estate to handle the company's stuff!"
Ryder, still concerned, said, "But we should listen to the doctor."
Sarah reassured him, "Don't worry! If anything happens, I'll call you right away!"
Seeing Sarah's determination, Ryder sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue.
Sarah was passionate about her job. With SR Group's operations back on track, and after that incident, more company heads were eager to get in SR Group's good graces.
As a result, SR Group's business was booming, and as the CEO, Sarah had to keep an eye on everything!
Ryder said, "Alright then, just don't overdo it. I'll head back to the company to check on things!"
Sarah nodded, "Okay!"
As Ryder reached the office door, he suddenly remembered something.
He turned around with a mischievous grin. "Honey, you haven't forgotten what we agreed on yesterday, have you?"
Sarah blushed. "All you think about is sex! Can you be serious for once?"
Ryder laughed. "You're my darling. What's wrong with being attracted to you? If you've forgotten, should I remind you now?"
He raised his hands and made a grabbing motion.
Sarah's face turned even redder, and her ears started to blush, too!
Scenes from last night in the hospital with Ryder flashed through her mind.
They did everything except actual intercourse!
If Ryder hadn't noticed she was weak, he might have gone all the way!
During their intimate moments, Sarah had promised Ryder that once the company's matters were settled, she'd be willing to make love with him.
Even though she was an adult and understood everything, Sarah still felt shy talking about sex!
Blushing, Sarah said, "Alright! I know! Now go out! It would be too embarrassing if someone saw us!"
"Okay!" Ryder stopped teasing, blew her a kiss, and left the office.
He hummed a tune as he got into the elevator.
He was thrilled about how his relationship with Sarah was progressing.
When Ryder reached the ground floor and turned to leave, a figure suddenly appeared, grabbed his arm, and quickly pulled him to a corner of the lobby.
It was Barbara!
Ryder asked, "What do you want?"
Barbara suddenly raised her hand, stood on tiptoe, and trapped Ryder between the wall and herself!
They were almost face to face, with less than four inches between them!
Ryder could even feel Barbara's breath!
Ryder was bewildered and asked, "What are you doing?"
Barbara stared at Ryder and seriously asked, "Did you have sex with Sarah in the hospital last night?"
Ryder rolled his eyes. "Why are you asking this? Sarah and I are married, so even if we did, it's normal and not illegal!"
Barbara's eyes reddened slightly, sparkling as if she was making a decision. "Do you have your ID with you?"
Ryder said, "Yeah, why?"
Barbara said, "Come with me to a hotel!"
Ryder asked, confused, "A hotel? For what?"
Barbara answered, "To have sex, of course!"
Ryder was taken aback. "Are you joking? It's not April Fool's Day!"
Barbara's expression was serious. "I'm not joking! If you can have sex with Sarah, why can't you have sex with me? Or do you think I'm not attractive or sexy enough?"
Ryder was speechless. "What I mean is, Sarah and I are married. Our relationship is different from yours."
Barbara pouted. "So, you're rejecting me?"
Ryder replied patiently, "I'm not rejecting you, but it's just not possible."
"Not possible?" Barbara suddenly turned dejected like a deflated balloon. She let go of him and took a couple of steps back, her eyes tearing up uncontrollably.
Ryder was at a loss. He didn't understand why Barbara was acting so strangely. His gaze lowered, and he saw a freshly scabbed wound on Barbara's neck. He had heard that Barbara had threatened her life with a blade to avoid having sex with Tyler at the Johnson family.
Ryder knew Barbara was a very conservative girl, but why was she acting this way now?
Barbara wiped her tears and forced a smile. "I'm sorry! I lost my composure. Just forget it."
With that, Barbara turned and ran away, leaving Ryder still in a daze.
Barbara ran all the way back to her office and closed the door. She lay on her desk, tears streaming down. Her inner conflict, helplessness, and repression kept surging up.
After all the interactions with Ryder recently, she realized she had developed a dependence, attention, and admiration for him. This was the first time she had felt this way about a man. Ryder's figure would always appear, even in her dreams!
She couldn't help but think, 'Did I fall in love with Ryder?'
She knew it was wrong because Ryder was Sarah's husband, and she couldn't destroy their relationship. However, whenever she saw Ryder, her emotional impulses would override her rationality. She was in agony.
Especially after that incident at the birthday banquet, she knew Sandra wouldn't let it go. And she would definitely be used as a pawn for Sandra's network expansion again. She couldn't guarantee that if a similar incident happened again, she would be able to escape unscathed.
She absolutely couldn't accept losing her virginity to someone she didn't like. That was why she boldly approached Ryder with that request today. She regretted it immediately after saying it. Would he think of her as a girl with no self-respect?
She muttered, "Can someone tell me what I should do?"
