Chapter 146 Please Don't Kill Me!
A woman with a fat face was checking her bank account.
"Oh my god! It's a million dollars!"
She was Manuel's wife.
A few hours ago. they were taken to the police station for causing a disturbance at the hospital and had to give statements. After the investigation, they were released after giving their statements!
During the argument, she held onto the bank card and didn't hand it over in the end.
So, in her opinion, the million dollars rightfully belonged to her!
"I have to leave Houston overnight to prevent those people from taking a share of my money!"
When she reached a deserted alley, she suddenly felt a towel covering her mouth!
She instinctively struggled and tried to scream, but a pungent smell entered her nostrils.
Everything turned black, and she fainted.
Twenty minutes later!
Inside an abandoned steel factory in Houston.
"Hey! Wake up!"
Manuel's wife felt her body shaking and slowly opened her eyes in a daze.
"Oh dear... where am I?"
As her consciousness cleared a bit, she realized she was tied to a chair with a rope that didn't budge no matter how hard she struggled!
Around her was an empty, damp, and dim warehouse.
A few candles were burning not far away, their flames flickering.
The wind was blowing outside, producing eerie noises as it seeped through the dilapidated glass of the warehouse!
This frightened Manuel's wife, and she desperately cried out, "Where am I? Can someone please help me?!"
Her cries echoed in the warehouse, but there was no response!
"What... what is going on? I'm so scared!"
Trembling, Manuel's wife muttered to herself!
At that moment, the sound of footsteps in leather shoes could be heard, gradually approaching.
"Who’s there?" Manuel's wife lifted her head and looked ahead anxiously, shouting in alarm.
As the footsteps drew nearer, she saw a figure appearing. In the flickering candlelight, the shadow of that person stretched out long, giving it a peculiar look!
As she gradually made out the person's face, her heart suddenly trembled. This tall figure wore a white mask, obscuring their features. The most striking detail was the bloodied knife in the masked man's hand. It dripped and trickled onto the ground.
"Who...who are you? What do you want?" Manuel's wife exclaimed in fear.
The masked man spoke in a cold, emotionless voice, "It was I who tied you up here! As for what I want, why don't you guess?" He then waved the bloodstained knife in his hand.
Witnessing this, Manuel's wife's face turned pale, and she screamed, "Get away from me! Go away, quickly!"
But the masked man remained unfazed.
He stepped closer, gently brushing the knife against her face, and coldly said, "Tell me, how many pieces should I dismember you into?"
Though Manuel's wife usually had a shrewish personality, always ready to confront anyone who crossed her path, she had never experienced a situation like this before. In her eyes, this masked man must be a deranged serial killer who had come from elsewhere to commit crimes. And she had the misfortune of running into him!
Thus, overwhelmed by the intense fear and pressure, she involuntarily released a stream of hot fluid from between her legs. She had wet herself!
With a tearful voice, she pleaded, "Please, I beg you, don't kill me! I'll do anything as long as you spare my life! By the way, I have money! Just recently, I won a 1 million dollar prize! It's still in my bank account and hasn't been withdrawn yet! I can give it all to you! Just spare me!"
The masked man coldly interrogated, "Only 1 million dollars? Let me remind you, speaking the truth will keep you alive, lying gets you killed!"
Trembling, Manuel's wife nodded repeatedly, choked up as she said, "I...I also received 100,000 dollars this morning, and I can give you that money too!"
"Who gave you the 100,000 dollars?"
"I...I don't know!"
"Hmph! Someone just gave you 100,000 dollars without any reason? Either that person is crazy or you're lying."
"Please don't get angry! I'm really not lying! The reason I was given 100,000 dollars is because I was asked to do something for that person. I thought it was a simple task, so I agreed!"
"What kind of task?"
Manuel's wife didn't hesitate for a second and answered, "My husband is impotent. We've been married for seventeen or eighteen years, and we still haven't had any children. So there's no emotional connection between us, and we got divorced half a year ago, each going our separate ways."
"But this morning, I received a call from a mysterious person, saying that my ex-husband's workplace warehouse caught fire and he was seriously injured. They told me to go to the hospital and create a scene with the SR Group, specifically targeting Sarah, and the bigger the commotion, the better. They offered me 200,000 dollars to do it, with 100,000 dollars as the initial payment, then an additional $100,000 after!"
"At first, I didn't believe it and thought it was a scam, but just a few minutes later, SR Group called and said my ex-husband was seriously injured and hospitalized. There was no reason for me to go, but in order to get the remaining $100,000, I went."
"I was dealing accordingly with Sarah but unexpectedly, things got messy because a young man came up with a $1 million bonus."
The man in the mask nodded and continued asking, "Do you have the mysterious person's phone number who called you?"
Manuel's wife shook her head, "The call was from a public phone booth, not a mobile phone! I already mentioned all I know, please spare me!"
The man in the mask nodded slightly, "I may consider sparing you, but beware! Don't utter a word about what happened tonight, otherwise, I will kill you, understood?"
Manuel's wife nodded repeatedly, trembling uncontrollably.
Suddenly, the man in the mask took a step forward and pulled out a towel from his pocket, stuffing it into Manuel's wife's mouth.
After a couple of muffled noises, she passed out.
The man in the mask removed his mask, grabbed his bald head, and exhaled, "Phew! This smell of urine is so pungent, it's suffocating me!"
This person was none other than George.
At that moment, a few thugs rushed into the warehouse.
George ordered, "You guys carry her away and take her to a nearby location where we were captured. Leave no traces!"
The thugs complied, searched Manuel's wife, took out her bank cards, handed them to George, and carried her away.
Then, a figure slowly walked out of the warehouse with a faint smile on his face, saying, "As I expected, this fire incident is far from being as simple as it seems!"
The person speaking was Ryder!
