Chapter 427 I Won't Allow You to Talk About Ryder Like That
Abigail leaned against Tyler, her face scrunching up when she saw the photo. It was the woman she both envied and despised the most in Houston.
It was Sarah!
Tyler noticed Abigail's reaction and sensed something was up. "What's the deal with this chick?"
Abigail sneered. "That's Sarah. She might look all sweet and innocent, but she's the most seductive and cunning woman in Houston. Total snake. Mr. Young, you should steer clear of her. Getting mixed up with her is just asking for trouble."
Tyler chuckled, "Don't sweat it. I'm a one-woman man, got a fiancée and everything. No way I'm messing around. Plus, those photos of Sarah are probably all touched up. Bet she doesn't hold a candle to you in real life!"
Abigail's face lit up, and she smiled warmly. "Mr. Young, you've got great taste!"
She didn't notice Tyler's eyes still glued to the photo on his phone.
Barbara and Sarah were both knockouts!
'Barbara and Sarah! Both are total babes! Why choose when you can have it all?' Tyler thought, feeling a bit hot under the collar.
With the cocktail he just downed, the alcohol was kicking in, and his desire was rising.
He glanced down at Abigail snuggled up to him.
Sure, she wasn't a supermodel, but she was still pretty hot, way better than those fake girls on the dance floor!
Having been with plenty of women, he knew exactly what Abigail was after!
A girl willing to throw herself at him shouldn't go to waste!
So he said, "Abigail, isn't it getting a bit stuffy in here? How about we go for a drive?"
Abigail's eyes sparkled at the suggestion of a drive!
Riding in a fancy Lamborghini would definitely turn heads!
If she snapped a pic and posted it on social media, it would make everyone green with envy!
No way she was passing up this chance to show off. She quickly replied, "Sure! Mr. Young, where are we headed?"
Tyler leaned in, trying to sound all smooth, "Somewhere quiet and dark. My car's got great suspension, and the seats recline!"
His meaning was clear. Abigail blushed, playfully hitting his chest.
She said coyly, "I do want to see how amazing the Lamborghini's suspension is! And, I used to ride horses on the prairie, my riding skills are pretty good!"
Tyler grinned. "Then let's see who's the better rider later!"
The next morning, Ryder was the only one in the office at Maple Real Estate.
Two ebony boxes sat on the desk.
Ryder eyed the boxes, noticing the identical patterns and the cool feel of the wood.
'What are these for?' Ryder wondered.
He had hoped Scott, who was coming back from abroad, could shed some light.
But this time, Ava returned alone, saying Scott had some business to take care of and would be back in a few days!
'John was looking for these things; he must've known something. Could his death be tied to this?' Ryder thought suddenly.
"Anyway, I gotta keep these ebony boxes safe and stay alert for any info related to them," Ryder muttered to himself.
There was a knock on the door.
"Mr. Clark!" It was Sophia's voice.
Ryder quickly stashed the ebony boxes in the drawer and locked it.
"Come in!" he called out.
Sophia walked in, dressed in business attire, black stockings, and high heels. She was holding a stack of documents and placed them on Ryder's desk.
"Mr. Clark, this document is an agreement from one of our sand suppliers to terminate their partnership with us. This supplier provides 75% of our sand, which is crucial. You need to check this out!"
Ryder picked up the document and saw that this supplier had been working with Maple Real Estate for over five years without any issues.
Why the sudden termination?
Sophia explained, "The contract was terminated because the sand supplier changed ownership yesterday. The new owner, the Johnson family, now owns 100%, and Sandra is temporarily in charge!"
"The Johnson family!?" Ryder was a bit surprised.
From what he knew, the Johnson family had been struggling and barely keeping their heads above water.
Now they owned a sand supplier?
Ryder asked, "Who owned the sand supplier before?"
Sophia replied, "It used to be a small part of the Young family's holdings in New York City. They rarely paid attention to it and had specific people managing it. But suddenly, they transferred all the shares to the Johnson family!"
"New York City, Young family," Ryder murmured. He'd only heard bits and pieces about the Young family, not much else.
Although it was unclear how the Johnson family got involved with the Young family, it was certain that the Johnson family would brag about it, possibly causing him trouble.
No matter how much they boasted, if they crossed Ryder's line, they'd all face a rough end!
Meanwhile, at a high-end coffee shop, Sandra and Barbara sat across from each other at a corner table.
Barbara, fiddling with her phone and looking slightly impatient, spoke up, "What do you want? Make it quick, I've only got ten minutes."
Sandra frowned, "Annie, can you not treat your mom like this? I went through a lot to set up this meeting."
Barbara snorted. "Do you think what you've done to Ryder and Sarah is how a mother should act?"
Sandra's face darkened, and she snapped, "Don't mention them in front of me! I think you've been brainwashed by them! Especially that bastard Ryder! He's no good!"
Barbara suddenly slammed the table, her voice rising in anger, "I won't let you talk about Ryder like that!"
