Chapter 434 Siren
When George showed up, the folks in the bar just naturally cleared a path for him.
He walked right up to Jasper, stopping a couple of yards away.
Jasper's beady eyes locked onto George, and he rasped, "You the owner of this place?"
George nodded, staying cool. "If there's something you don't like about the bar, talk to me. Let my staff go and don't hurt her."
Jasper let out a sneer. "Your staff's clueless. I don't even want to dirty my hands. You, as the boss, should handle it."
With that, he shoved the waiter aside.
She stumbled, but George caught her just in time.
Looking scared and upset, she stammered, "George, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to provoke him, I..."
George cut her off, his face set. "It's okay, get back to work."
She nodded and hurried away.
The bar was tense.
Behind George, a dozen of his guys were glaring at Jasper.
Causing trouble in Polka Bar? That was a first!
This guy must have a death wish!
Jasper had eight big guys in white shirts behind him, all looking ready for a fight.
George got straight to it. "What's your name, sir?"
Jasper smirked, not a care in the world. "Call me Viper."
"Viper, why'd you act up in my bar just now?"
Viper looked down, fiddling with a ring on his thumb, then looked up with a nasty grin. "No reason. Just used to playing like this in New York City. Don't see why I gotta follow the rules here in Houston."
The crowd's faces changed!
This Viper guy was way too cocky!
He was straight-up disrespecting Houston just 'cause he was from New York City!
George's eyes narrowed.
He didn't blow up right away; something felt off.
He'd run Polka Bar for years, serving plenty of New Yorkers, even some shady ones.
Even if they looked down on Houston, they wouldn't start trouble for no reason!
Was this a setup?
That thought hit George hard.
Taking a deep breath, he said, "If you can't follow our rules, please find another bar. Tonight's tab is on the house."
The crowd was shocked.
Why was George letting Viper off so easy?
This wasn't like him at all!
Even George's guys were confused!
One of them, too impatient to stay quiet, started, "George, you..."
But George's glare shut him up.
Viper's beady eyes stayed on George, a cold glint in them.
George's patience threw Viper for a loop!
Usually, in situations like this, the other guy would lose it and strike back. And when they did, their weaknesses would show!
Viper's lips twisted into a nasty grin. "You think I'm some dog you can order around? That's pretty disrespectful, don't you think? But hey, if you meet one condition, we can talk about ending this."
George's eyes narrowed. "What condition?"
Viper smirked. "Since your waitress couldn't meet my demands, you, as the boss, should kneel before me and toast me!"
The bar erupted.
"Are you out of your mind? Asking George to kneel and toast you? You must have a death wish!"
"George, we can't let this slide. Just 'cause he's from New York City, he thinks he can do whatever he wants! This is bullying!"
"Yeah! I don't believe this jerk is that tough!"
Despite the crowd's anger, Viper ignored them, keeping his provocative gaze on George.
"George, I can't take it anymore!"
Before George could react, one of his guys threw a punch at Viper!
The punch was fast, aimed right at Viper's head!
But just before it landed, the guy felt a sharp pain in his gut!
He looked down to see a broken bottle stuck in his abdomen!
Blood was pouring out!
Viper licked his lips, his expression cold and bloodthirsty. "I'm talking to your boss. It's not your turn to speak."
As he spoke, he twisted the bottle, making the guy grimace in pain and cry out!
Seeing this, George finally snapped. "Don't mess with my people!"
He stepped forward and delivered a powerful side kick to Viper!
The kick was strong and forceful.
Viper, a seasoned fighter, narrowed his eyes and quickly raised his right arm to block!
The kick collided with his arm!
Muscle and strength clashed!
Viper was pushed back a couple of steps but quickly regained his stance!
He was a bit shocked and couldn't help but say coldly, "Didn't expect to find such a tough guy in Houston. That was a strong kick!"
George pulled his injured guy behind him and had two others take him away to treat the wound!
Looking at Viper, George was surprised.
Viper, taking that almost full-force kick without much reaction, was not someone he'd encountered often!
This made George even more suspicious of Viper's intentions!
George said in a deep voice, "While I can still control my temper, I suggest you take your guys and leave now."
Viper smiled, showing his yellow teeth, and said coldly, "It's too late to leave now!"
As soon as he finished speaking, urgent sirens blared outside the bar!
