Chapter 531 Is Anthony Dead?

Very soon, a crowd gathered around!

They saw Anthony lying motionless in Ryan's arms!

The Johnsons freaked out:

"We're done for! The Johnson family's toast!"

"Anthony, you can't check out on us! We came to here banking on you to take us to the top!"

"Don't die! Get him to the hospital, stat! Maybe we can still save him!"

Chaos erupted—cries and shouts everywhere!

Oliver, convinced he'd actually killed Anthony, panicked and dropped the toy gun.

Without a second thought, he bolted, leaving his guys behind.

He figured with the his family's clout in New York, someone else would take the fall for him anyway!

Half an hour later, at Coreys Hospital.

After the doctors worked their magic, Anthony finally came to. But given his age and health issues, the docs recommended he stick around for a few more days for observation.

Now, in his hospital room, Anthony was FaceTiming Sarah.

"Sarah, don't worry, I'm fine! But Ryder, who was supposed to enjoy the banquet, got tangled up in my mess. I bailed on you guys!"

"Anthony, stop being so damn polite, or I'll lose it!" Sarah faked anger over the video call. "Alright, it's late. Get some rest! Hand the phone to Ryder."

"Got it. And hey, don't overwork yourself. A girl's gotta focus on making babies!"

"Alright, Anthony, peace out!"

Ryder was waiting nearby and took the phone from Anthony. "Anthony, you should rest early. I'll head out now."

"Alright, haha, I won't disturb your private conversation!" Anthony said as he lay back on the hospital bed.

Ryder turned off the room light and quietly left.

"Sarah, did you miss me?" Ryder found a balcony at the end of the hallway and started video chatting with Sarah.

"Not really. And don't think I'm letting you off the hook for what happened to Anthony! It was supposed to be a nice banquet. Even if someone started drama, you shouldn't have let him get hurt!"

Ryder gave her a wounded look. "So you'd rather it was me?"

"Neither of you should've gotten hurt! You're both the most important people in my life. If anything happens to either of you, I..." Sarah caught herself and trailed off.

Looking at Sarah's blushing face in the video, like a ripe peach, Ryder couldn't help but swallow! "What's wrong? Sarah, am I really that important to you?"

"Stop saying things like that!"

"Seriously, Sarah. About what Anthony said earlier—you know, the whole baby thing—you ever think about it?" Ryder couldn't resist teasing her.

"Ryder, since when did you become such a smooth talker? Spill it—you've been cozying up to other women, haven't you? Like your high school crush, Ms. Anderson from Maple Real Estate, and that..."

"Sarah, I'm sorry! I messed up. But you've got it all wrong—I love you, only you!"

Ryder was squirming.

Sarah had just rattled off every woman he'd ever crossed paths with!

Talk about a steel trap memory!

The rest of the call was Ryder scrambling to explain himself.

Like, Lily? Just an old classmate.

Sophia? Strictly business.

And so on.

But no matter how much Ryder explained, Sarah just gave him a cold stare and pursed her lips. "Listen, if I catch you messing around with another woman, I'll divorce you! I'll find someone way better than you. Trust me, I've got options!"

"Sarah, you're absolutely right!"

"What, are you actually considering divorce?"

Facing the beautiful Sarah in the video, Ryder was almost in tears.

Unexpectedly, Sarah on the other end of the call covered her mouth and laughed. "Alright, I'm just teasing you! It's late, you and Rex, and Uncle Ryan should go back and rest early! I'm going to sleep now!"

"Okay, good night, Sarah!" Ryder smiled calmly, but inside he wished he could rush to Sarah's bed, lift the covers, and scare her!

So all those things Sarah said earlier were just to tease him!

She really scared him!

"Ryder, what are you chatting about on the balcony? Go home and chat in Sarah's bed, it's much more fun that way!"

Ryan and Rex, seeing Ryder finish his call, got up from the long bench in the hallway.

Ryan tiptoed and patted Ryder on the shoulder, smiling. "Ryder, don't you think what I said makes a lot of sense?"

Ryan laughed heartily. "You young folks don't have enough ways to flirt! I'll teach you slowly! Let's go home first, tonight I still have to video chat in bed with Clara Watson about life!"

On the way home.

Ryan sat up straight, his expression becoming more serious, and looked at Ryder. "Ryder, there's something I need to apologize to you for!"

"Huh?" Ryder was a bit puzzled.

What trick was Uncle Ryan up to now?

Ryan then described in detail the entire process of Anthony falling at the banquet!

It turned out that Anthony had stepped on a small round bead fired from a toy gun!

That's why Anthony slipped and fell!

Actually, Ryan was standing next to Anthony at the time and saw the small bead.

He hesitated whether to warn Anthony.

In the end, Ryan chose to catch Anthony the second he fell.

Despite this, Anthony was still frightened and fainted!

Hearing this, Ryder squinted his eyes slightly. "Uncle Ryan, you mean Anthony didn't ust trip and fall? He passed out from shock?"

Ryan nodded. "Exactly! I thought I knew some medical skills, so when Anthony went down, I checked his pulse. But his condition... it's not right. This shouldn't be happening!"

It was the first time Ryder saw Ryan with such a troubled expression.

His heart skipped a beat. "Uncle Ryan, what do you mean by 'shouldn't be happening'? Is there something wrong with Anthony?"

Ryan smacked his thigh, practically spitting out the words. "It's bad, Ryder. The old man in the photo is clearly Anthony, but when I checked his pulse, it was weak—like someone who's been locked up for over twenty years! Unless..."

He squinted. "Unless Anthony's got a twin. Tomorrow, ask Sarah. Rex, your grandma and Anthony are siblings, right? Maybe check with her—does Anthony have a brother? I've got a bad feeling about this! Look, if it turns out my medical skills are crap and Anthony just passed out from shock tonight, it's on me. If Sarah gives you hell, tell her to come at me."

"No way, Uncle Ryan. I trust you a hundred percent. And about Anthony—keep digging, will you?" Ryder said.

Actually, Ryder also felt that Anthony was not that simple.

Ryan chuckled. "That's why I've always liked you, Ryder! But don't sweat it—my gut's never wrong. Remember that cow we had years ago? I got a feeling something was off. Turns out, she was sneaking out every night to hook up with the bull next door!"
