Chapter 18 The New CEO Will Support Me!
Everyone turned to look as four people stood at the entrance of the private room, three men and one woman. Leading them was a beautiful woman dressed professionally, exuding a mature and sexy aura.
Upon seeing this woman, Tim immediately turned into a puppy meeting its owner rushing over, with an 'eager to please' look on his face. "Vice President Sophia, what have we done to ever be graced with your presence?" This beautiful woman was none other than Sophia, the Vice President of Maple Real Estate. Sophia had arrived long before Ryder did.
She had been waiting in the private room with a few influential friends from the business world for Ryder's arrival. That is just a moment ago, they had heard noises and commotion downstairs. Sophia was worried that it might involve Ryder, so as a precaution, they had all come downstairs to investigate.
She hadn't expected that the trouble would truly concern Ryder, especially in this manner! To make matters worse, the person causing the ruckus turned out to be Tim, the Human Resources manager of the company.
Tim's behavior caused anger to radiate through Sophia's body. Tim, though, was oblivious to Sophia's mood and instead focused on the three people standing behind her.
His heart couldn't help but palpitate as recognition set in. These three individuals were none other than Jack, the CEO of the Good Group, David, the president of Houston Bank, and Andrew, the owner of The Pint House.
Each of the men were an influential figure in Houston! Why were they here with the Vice President?
Sophia interrupted his panicked thought and began to coldly question Tim, "Did you just say that you were representing Maple Real Estate?"
Tim trembled and quickly shifted the blame, saying, "Vice President, it was all Ryder's doing. He openly ridiculed Maple Real Estate and hired a group of thugs to intimidate us. As a member of the company, I couldn't just sit back and watch. That's why I made a bold statement, hoping to defend our reputation."
"Please, Ms. Sophia, help me save the company's face!" At the same time, Chris hurriedly rushed over to the man with perfectly sculpted facial features standing behind Sophia.
It was none other than the president of the Good Group, Jack, who agreed, "My colleague is right. That guy, Ryder, not only insulted Maple Real Estate but also looked down upon our Good Group! I argued with him logically, but he took it even further. His behavior is quite unforgivable!"
He quickly glanced at Tim and exchanges a look showing they understood each other's thoughts. Though George wielded a strong influence, with Sophia and Jack by their side, George would surely back down and switch sides. When that happens, Ryder will be left in ruins!
They must restore their dignity! Hearing the synchronized words of Chris and Jack, Sophia chose not to expose them but turned to Tim instead. "Coincidentally, I'm hosting a dinner for the new CEO today, so it's more appropriate for him to make the final decision."
Upon hearing this, Tim became both nervous and excited, his expression changing. "Ms, Sophia, when will the new CEO arrive? I will make sure to be on my best behavior in front of him!"
He finished his statement, before turning away and facing Ryder for yet another threat. "You idiot, you're finished! Just wait until our new CEO takes care of you!"
Ryder shrugged and replied with a smirk, "You might be disappointed. I don't intend to take care of myself."
Tim chuckled helplessly, "Ryder, have you lost your mind? You're just a fool who cleans toilets for the company. Do you think you're worthy of becoming the CEO?"
The last thing he expected was for Sophia to walk quickly to Ryder's side and respectfully bow, "Mr. Clark, hello!"
Ryder simply nodded in acknowledgment.
Sophia smiled, turning to her friends to introduce them to Ryder, "Mr. Clark, these three gentlemen are Jack, President of the Good Group, David, President of Houston Bank, and Andrew, the owner of The Pint House. They made a special trip here to welcome you as the new CEO."
After the introductions were done, the three men took the initiative to shake hands with Ryder, expressing their respect and warmth:
"Mr. Clark, you are talented and remarkable, I've heard so much about you!"
"In the future, we'll look to you, Mr. Clark, to take care of us in the business field!"
This display of respect and closeness stood in stark contrast to the behavior of their colleague just now.
It was widely known that Maple Real Estate had a market value of nearly billions, and as the CEO, Ryder's worth was higher than the three of them. Moreover, Maple Real Estate was the core industry under the Maple Group, with Scott overseeing it and extending its connections. They had to take the initiative to get close to him to extend their connections.
Of course, they were still unaware of the true relationship between Ryder and Scott. Otherwise, they would have knelt earlier. Crying out for their fathers...

Josh, whose mind was completely shattered, approached Ryder with a mournful face and knelt down, begging for mercy, "Mr. Clark... I'm sorry, I just went against you. Please forgive me this time!"
At this moment, Josh regretted everything deeply.

Facing Josh's plea, Ryder remained calm and spoke softly, "You just arrested my friend, didn't you?"

Josh picked up a piece of a broken beer bottle with his right hand from the ground. He spread out his right palm, clenching his teeth, and forcefully stabbed it into his left palm!
Blood splattered everywhere. Josh's body trembled, but he didn't utter a sound!
He continued to stab... about seven or eight times.
"Enough! That's it." Ryder interrupted Josh's actions.
At this point, his entire left hand was a bloody mess, with bones clearly visible. His face was pale, and his lips trembled. It was evident how intense the pain was!
"Thank you for your forgiveness..." Josh whispered.
"Now get lost!" With a moment of amnesty, Josh didn't dare to delay even for a second. He quickly ran away with his gang members.
Chris and Tim in the private room were on the verge of peeing themselves. This horrifying scene seemed like something out of a movie, had actually happened now right before their eyes.
In their eyes, Josh had become an untouchable figure in the underworld. Just because he insulted Ryder and grabbed Lily, he had to resort to self-harm to apologize!
And they, with their merciless, harsh, and vicious words towards Ryder just before! They even forced him to do a striptease. Now, they wondered what kind of punishment they would have to endure to obtain Ryder's forgiveness...
