Chapter 390 You Married a Good Wife!
Ryder turned his head and asked Ryan, "Yo, Uncle Ryan, thanks to you, we nailed the game today. What’re you gonna do with all that cash?"
Ryan leaned back against the car seat, casually picking his nose. "Eh, it's just some pocket change. Do whatever you want with it, but make sure to send a few grand my way later. George told me there's a bunch of new Russian girls on the west side, and they're top-notch. We gotta check 'em out!"
Ryder chuckled, "Man, at your age, you should chill. Don't wanna end up in the hospital from too much fun!"
Ryan sneered. "Ryder, you just don't get it. It's not just about the physical stuff. It's a connection, man, heart and soul. You got a lot to learn!"
Ryder's mouth twitched. He was still a virgin, and all this talk about physical contact was just ridiculous to him.
Ryan looked at his reflection in the car window, showing a lewd grin. "Just look at this face! Ryder, you can only dream of being this good-looking, right?"
Ryder just shook his head and smiled wryly.
Actually, both Ryder and his dad, John Clark, had the same thought about Ryan—they couldn't figure him out!
Labeled as a street thug back home, gambling and womanizing all day, Ryan's appearance seemed to fit the bill.
But with those gambling skills, staying cool in dangerous situations, and a laid-back attitude towards big money, he was no ordinary street thug!
Especially when Ryder was a kid, he heard from the old folks that Ryan wasn't a local. He showed up in their village a few months before Ryder and his dad got kicked out by the Jones family and settled there!
Ryder was curious about Ryan's secrets, but he never asked.
Everyone had got their own secrets, and it was rude to pry if they didn't wanna talk!
Soon, the three of them arrived at Villa No. 1 in Platan Heights!
After stepping out of the car, Ryan gazed at Villa No. 1, his eyes sparkling. "Ryder, you're really living it up now! This place is fancy!"
Ryder was speechless. "The money you won tonight could buy a few of these villas. Don't act so surprised!"
Ryan pouted. "I'm not exaggerating. Just thinking about the difference between this place and our dumpy house in the countryside. It's like night and day. Let us crash here for a few days, and I'll have something to brag about when we go back!"
With that, they walked into the villa.
In the big living room on the first floor, Sarah and Barbara were watching TV, waiting for Ryder.
Seeing Ryder come in, Sarah stood up and walked over quickly, a bit annoyed. "You've been out late two nights in a row. Where the heck have you been?"
Ryder scratched his head and explained, "Babe, don't get the wrong idea. It was really important stuff. Won't take long to sort out. Don't worry about it!"
Upon hearing this, Sarah's expression softened a bit.
But then Barbara strutted over with her long legs, stirring the pot. "Sarah, don't you catch a whiff of smoke and perfume? What kind of 'important' thing involves those smells?"
Ryder's heart skipped a beat!
The smoke was easy to explain, but the perfume? That was from Lily hugging him earlier.
How was he gonna explain this?
Sure enough, Sarah stepped forward, sniffed Ryder, and frowned. "There really is a smell of smoke and perfume. Ryder, what's going on?"
"I..." Ryder started, shooting daggers at Barbara, who just loved to stir up trouble!
Barbara made a face at Ryder, clearly enjoying herself.
Just then, Ryan's voice cut in, "You must be Ryder's wife. You're a real catch. Ryder's lucky to have you!"
Sarah finally noticed Ryan and asked, a bit confused, "And you are...?"
Seeing the topic shift, Ryder quickly jumped in, "Babe, this is an elder from my hometown. He's in Houston for a bit, so I brought him to stay for a few days. Just call him Uncle Ryan!"
Sarah politely grabbed a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet and handed them to Ryan. "Uncle Ryan, welcome!"
Ryan was stunned for a moment, then chuckled. "Okay! Thanks!"
He took the slippers and started changing.
This surprised Ryder a bit; it was rare to see Ryan being so polite!
Then Sarah and Barbara went to get some clean bedding, set up a new bedroom on the first floor, and made the bed for Ryan.
After settling everything, Sarah and Barbara headed upstairs first.
At this point, Ryan patted Ryder's shoulder. "Ryder, you found yourself a good wife. No wonder you pushed away that pretty girl outside earlier!"
Ryder shot a disdainful glance at Ryan. "Silence doesn't make you a mute. Hurry up, take a shower, and hit the sack! Just a heads-up, it's cool to stay here, but no bringing in any outside women!"
Ryan chuckled. "I always go to their places. Bringing them here is boring! You, on the other hand, should be working on having a son soon!"
With that, Ryan dashed into his room!
Ryder just shook his head and went upstairs.
Ryan returned to his room, sat on the bed, and rubbed his feet.
Just then, his phone rang!
Glancing at the number, he frowned. After a few seconds, he answered. "Scott, why are you calling me? Didn't we agree not to contact each other?"
A deep voice came from the other end. "Don't change the subject. I heard you went to Houston?"
Ryan pouted. "So what? What's it to you?"
Scott Brown chuckled bitterly. "No one can control you. I'm just reminding you to be careful and not cause trouble!"
Ryan impatiently waved his hand. "You don't need to nag. If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up!"
