Chapter 258 Kiss Me
At the entrance of The Pint House, Ryder and Sarah bid farewell to Andrew.
It was fortunate that Andrew had arrived in time tonight; otherwise, things may not have turned out so well for them.
Sarah, holding Ryder's arm, walked towards the parking lot.
As they walked, Sarah sighed. "I didn't expect today's commotion at the building materials market to be related to Sandra! I used to hear people say she was formidable, and now I know what they meant. I'm worried she'll retaliate against us in the future!"
Ryder leaned into Sarah's arm and said, "Sandra is indeed cunning, but now that we know who we're up against, we can prepare for it. After all, the most dangerous enemies are the ones in the shadows!"
Sarah nodded. Then, she suddenly thought of something and held out her hand to Ryder. "Hand it over!"
"What?" Ryder asked, slightly taken aback.
Sarah said, "The thirteen thousand nine hundred dollars you asked Sandra for at the dinner table! You can't keep it!"
"Why not?" Ryder asked.
Sarah said angrily, "Everyone says men become bad when they have money. I've noticed you're getting more and more glib lately. Next thing you know, you'll be gallivanting around with other women! I'll keep that money for you!"
Ryder smiled helplessly. He had recently noticed that Sarah had become much more cheerful than before.
It seemed she was gradually overcoming the traumatic experiences she had with her original family.
As for the money, Ryder didn't care at all. The money had been extorted from Sandra, so he didn't feel bad about giving it up.
Even if it came from his wallet, it wouldn't matter.
After all, this amount of money was just a fraction of what Ryder had left!
Besides, a wife's happiness was priceless!
Ryder didn't hesitate at all and transferred thirteen thousand nine hundred dollars to Sarah's bank account. Sarah checked the account gleefully, saying, "That's more like it!"
Under the night sky, Ryder looked at Sarah's delicate face. She had a slight blush on her cheeks from the alcohol she had drunk.
For a moment, Ryder felt a strange excitement in his heart. He looked at Sarah affectionately and said, "Darling, since I just handed over the money, shouldn't I get a reward?"
Sarah, feeling a bit nervous under Ryder's gaze, asked softly, "What kind of reward do you want?"
Ryder suddenly wrapped his arms around Sarah's slender waist.
Sarah's body trembled as if she had been electrocuted, and she stood there awkwardly.
Ryder leaned in closer and commanded, "Kiss me!"
Sarah trembled. Ryder had a domineering look in his eyes. It made Sarah's heart race!
At any other time, Sarah would have definitely hit Ryder for saying such a thing, but at this moment, Sarah couldn't resist him. In fact, she even anticipated it!
"Okay!" Sarah answered softly.
She closed her eyes, stood on tiptoe, and moved her face towards Ryder's lips.
Just as they were about to kiss, someone interrupted them.
"What are you two doing?"
Ryder and Sarah were both startled and quickly pulled away from each other. They turned to see who it was.
They saw a tall girl standing by a Tesla about ten meters away, frowning and looking displeased at them. It was none other than Sandra's daughter, Barbara!
Sarah, being somewhat shy, felt embarrassed to have been caught in such a situation.
Blushing, Sarah awkwardly asked, "Barbara, what are you doing here? Didn't you go back with Aunt Sandra?"
Barbara walked over and replied, "I had something to discuss with you, so I didn't go back with them. But then I stumbled upon the disappointing sight of you still hanging around with Ryder!"
Sarah, frustrated, smiled wryly. "Barbara, Ryder is my husband! If I can't hang out with him, who should I hang with?"
Barbara ignored Sarah's words and walked straight up to Ryder, glaring at him.
Sarah was already tall for a woman, but Barbara was even taller. She easily held her ground against Ryder.
Barbara said sternly, "I didn't get much of a chance to talk to you at dinner, but now I want to ask you to leave Sarah!"
Her blunt attitude disappointed Ryder.
He thought, 'I finally found a chance to make Sarah take the initiative to kiss me, and you suddenly interrupted! Now, you want to split us up! Do you think I'm that much of a pushover?'
Ryder replied tersely. "I didn't want to argue with you before because you're Sarah's cousin, but don't go too far! What happens between Sarah and me in our marriage is none of your business; it's not your place to interfere!"
This infuriated Barbara.
Sarah gently scolded Ryder. "Ryder! Barbara is still young; don't be so harsh on her!"
Ryder pouted. "If she's so young and ignorant, she should just stay home and play with her toys instead of interfering in our relationship!"
Sarah shouted, "Ryder!"
Barbara glared and pulled out a platinum card from her Hermes handbag, angrily handing it to Ryder. "This card has eight hundred thousand dollars in it! It's everything I've saved over the years. It's all yours, as long as you divorce Sarah!"
Ryder was utterly confused. Recently, many people seemed to want him to divorce Sarah. They had deployed many methods to convince him to do so, but this was the first time someone tried to bribe him with so much money to get a divorce!
It was like a scene in a movie, where a rich person would use money to make their daughter's poor boyfriend go away!
Ryder asked in confusion, "Can you tell me why you want me to leave Sarah?"
A sly look crossed Barbara's face, but she still maintained a strong and calm demeanor. "That's none of your business. Just take the money and divorce her!
"You don't look like a wealthy person; otherwise, you wouldn't have shamelessly asked my mom for money at dinner! Eight hundred thousand dollars is enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life. You could even find ten young and beautiful girls to marry, if you wanted to! Just leave Sarah alone!"
Ryder remained silent.
At that moment, Sarah snatched the platinum card from Barbara and stuffed it back into her Hermes handbag.
She said unhappily, "Barbara! Don't joke about such things! I will not divorce Ryder! It's getting late and you're not familiar with Houston, so you'd better get going!"
