Chapter 601 So Annoying
After she finished talking, there was a brief silence.
After a while, Barbara pulled her hand away from Sandra's warm grip. "I need to think twice."
Sandra looked at Barbara, clearly frustrated. "Barbara, how many times do I have to explain this to you? Why are you still being so stubborn?"
"Stubborn? Really? Then tell me, how can my messed-up, dirty self be good enough for Tyler?"
Sandra was taken aback by her words, then a look of excitement crossed her face.
"So, Barbara, you do like Tyler, right? Otherwise, why would you care about being worthy or not?"
Barbara shook her head. "I don't know. Please, stop pushing me. I need some time alone!"
"Alright, Barbara, think about what I said! It's late, get some rest!"
Sandra knew Barbara well; the more you push, the more she resists. A mix of firmness and gentleness was the way to go.
After Sandra left, Barbara clenched her fists and hit her head twice, finding her amnesia so annoying.
Apart from waking up with a pounding headache, she couldn't remember anything.
From waking up in the hospital, being dragged to the Ryder family's villa, tricking Rex into drinking and then escaping, the whole thing was a wild ride.
But now, back at the Johnson family, back with Sandra, that thrill was completely gone!
Just as Barbara was trying to figure this out, there was a knock on her bedroom door.
"Who is it?"
A young woman's voice came from outside the door, "It's me, Abigail!"
Without waiting for Barbara's permission, Abigail opened the door and walked in.
Barbara was a bit annoyed and immediately snapped, "Do I know you well? How dare you just barge in?"
Abigail's face showed displeasure.
But then she remembered she was now the most valued person in the Johnson family and was about to join the top-tier Weaver family in Aurora City.
With newfound confidence, she straightened her back.
Walking up to Barbara, she extended her hand. "Let me introduce myself, I'm Abigail, your older sister! We didn't get to talk at dinner, so I came to chat with you now!"
"Sorry, I only have one sister, and that's Sarah!"
"You—!" Abigail held back her anger. "You've lost your memory, so I won't hold it against you."
"So? What do you want from me? I don't think we were close." Barbara shrugged.
Abigail found a nearby soft chair and sat down.
"True, we're not close! If I were you, Barbara, I would have accepted Tyler's proposal when the Young family came to the Johnson family. By now, I'd be living a glamorous life as part of the Young family!"
Barbara snorted, "Are you Sandra's messenger?"
Abigail nodded. "Yeah, I ran into Sandra downstairs. But honestly, I don't want you to marry into the Young family because one person from the Johnson family marrying into a top-tier family in Aurora City is enough!"
"But as I was coming up the stairs, I remembered something else. Now that the Johnson family and Maple Group are on the same side, and the Young family is the enemy, if you marry into the Young family, the Johnson family won't support you!"
"You sure dare to speak your mind," Barbara sneered.
Abigail laughed too, "What's there to be afraid of! But seriously, are you really amnesiac or just faking it? You get kidnapped, hit your head, and now you're like those TV dramas, losing your memory? Look at me, my family was destroyed, I got beat up after coming to Aurora City, and I remember everything clearly, even while pregnant!"
Barbara couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Think what you want! If you want to chat, tell me more about what happened after I got back to Houston!"
"Huh? So you really lost your memory?"
Barbara rolled her eyes again. "If you don't want to talk, the door's open. See yourself out!"
"Fine, I'll talk. When you and Sandra got back to Houston, it was the lowest point for the Johnson family. You went by the name Annie, had dreadlocks, and piercings all over your ears..."
Abigail spilled everything she knew about Barbara.
To be honest, she'd been pretty lonely lately.
Before she got pregnant, no one in the Johnson family wanted to talk to her!
After she got pregnant, the Johnson family members started talking to her, but it felt super fake!
Now that Barbara was back, showing off in front of someone real felt so satisfying!
In some ways, Abigail envied Ryder, Sarah, and Barbara.
But her pride twisted that envy into jealousy, intense and bitter.
Half an hour passed, and Abigail finished her story.
Barbara's gut told her Abigail wasn't lying.
And Barbara was more curious about one thing, "So you're saying I liked Ryder, right?"
Abigail reasoned, "I'm not entirely sure, but ever since that outdoor kidnapping incident, your attitude towards Ryder completely changed. I read somewhere that a woman only changes her view of a man after having sex with him, so you must have had sex with Ryder outdoors!"
"Impossible!" Barbara was 100% sure she was still a virgin!
Abigail shrugged indifferently, "It's no big deal. Who wouldn't like a guy like Ryder? Sarah is pretty lucky; she thought she was marrying a useless guy, but who would've thought this guy would turn out to be so capable!"
Barbara pouted, "So what? In front of a top-tier family in Aurora City, a new Maple Group is nothing!"
Abigail nodded. "Exactly! I'm about to become the daughter-in-law of the Weaver family. By then, what will Ryder be?"
Abigail felt her mouth dry from all the talking.
She said goodbye to Barbara and went downstairs to get some water.
Barbara lay alone on her bed, her eyes wide open like saucers.
Tossing and turning, she couldn't sleep. 'So Ryder, what role did you play during my amnesiac period?'
On the other side.
Ryder, also lying in bed, couldn't sleep.
A cold breeze hit his back, making him sneeze.
Everything happened that day felt like an invisible giant net.
And he, Ryder, was the fish swimming inside!
But he couldn't pinpoint what the problem was.
The only thing he could do now was to manage Maple Group well and win the business war against the Young family.
If he lost, the Young family would swallow him and the entire Maple Group whole!
