Upon hearing this, Marcus looked confused. "Didn't we just finish writing the statement? What other statement do we need?"
Ryder narrowed his eyes and coldly snorted, "Over the years, you and your family have taken advantage of Lily's family, including the various resources her father provided to your family. Don't you think it's time to repay them?"
Marcus forced a bitter smile and said, "Those are things of the past, why bother with so many details?"
Ryder patted his shoulder and said, "Who said it's in the past? Let me make it clear today. If you return even a dollar less, I will take one of your fingers. I mean what I say!" With that, Ryder deliberately glanced towards the kitchen, as if he could grab a knife at any moment.
Marcus and his wife were terrified. Despite their reluctance, they had no choice but to nod and agree, "Alright, alright! We'll write the statement and repay the money in full. Please don't act impulsively!"
They took the paper from Ryder and tremblingly wrote the statement. While they were writing, Ryder had Lily remind him of everything they owed her family from her memory. Everything that came to mind was written down without missing a single item. It took them half an hour to finish this statement which had over a thousand words.
Adding up all the owed items and money, it amounted to a total of $750,000.
In a third-tier city like Houston, where the average salary was only two or three thousand dollars, this was a huge sum of money! One could only imagine how Marcus and his family had swindled so much money from Lily's family over the years.
Even Marcus himself was shocked by such a large amount of money. He couldn't easily come up with this much money!
Therefore, he hesitated and showed a reluctance to repay the money, but after receiving a slap from Ryder, he immediately signed the statement and promised to repay all the money within a week.
Ryder and Lily double-checked the statement, confirmed its accuracy, and only then agreed to let them leave. Feeling relieved, Marcus and his wife didn't stay for a second longer and rushed away.

Ryder handed the documents to Lily and said, "Keep these safe. With this $750,000, you should have enough to start your pet shop!"
Lily nodded repeatedly and said, "Yes, indeed! I have really been worrying about the investment capital for the pet shop lately. With this $750,000, we should be able to renovate the pet shop even better than I had hoped!"

Faced with Ryder's words, Lily answered decisively, "Of course, I believe what you said! I'm not like someone in your family. In my opinion, you are the most reliable man in the world!"

Ryder quickly took a step back, looking somewhat flustered.

Early the next day, Ryder had breakfast at Lily's house, ready to leave. Before he left, Lily asked him to come over again tonight. Ryder declined for two reasons: first, it was inappropriate for a married man (or someone on the brink of divorce, to be precise) to live with a woman, second, he planned to stay at the Platan Heights Villa and check on the renovation progress.
Lily felt a bit disappointed about this. She could only urge him repeatedly to come over whenever he was feeling down and had nowhere to stay. She even suggested that he could consider just lying in a bed. Ryder hastily escaped.
As for Sarah, early in the morning, she prepared her marriage certificate, ID card, and other documents, with dark circles under her eyes, and left the house. She had almost spent the whole night without sleep! Memories of her three-year marriage with Ryder kept replaying in her mind, and she couldn't help but shed tears as she thought about it.

It was the largest jewelry store in Houston - Lorraine Store. She remembered that the diamond necklace Ryder had rented for her was from this store.
